Talulah Paisley is an avant-garde rock'n'roll band led by Lyris Faron Schulman. Deemed “unselfconsciously whimsical [and] unapologetically earnest” by The New York Times, Lyris' 60's-meets-90’s stylings center lyrically on gender, relationships, and temporality. Her debut studio album, begun in 2017, is nearly complete.Lyris began her career as the founder of riot-grrl-new-wave band T-Rextasy. The band garnered praise from major outlets such as Rolling Stone and embarked on a coast-to-coast tour supporting pop-punk outfit Mannequin Pussy. Meanwhile, Lyris was secretly posting intimate bedroom recordings onto Bandcamp à la early Frankie Cosmos. Having never before prioritized her own songwriting, Talulah Paisley represents an honest commitment to the development of her personal voice. Talulah Paisley’s debut has evolved into a Wall of Sound concept album in which Lyris performs on 10 instruments. The record also features contributions from bandmates Victoria Guillem (Human People), Leo Frampton (Salamander, Hah.), Athena Matsil (Awksymoron), and Victor Artesona (ZOOMDWEEBY.) Talulah Paisley has toured the US and Europe and was nominated as a “Best Emerging Artist” at Deli Magazine.
