  • An Original Experience

by JJ on 3/4/25Pantages Theater - TacomaRating: 5 out of 5

From beginning to end, this concert felt as much as an event as it did a performance. This band is exceptionally skillful at what it achieves, and their Artistic Director, Gerard Morris, is a master at bringing an audience into the music to make it a memorable experience.

If you haven’t heard the Tacoma concert band play you’re missing out on a truly fine musical experience. The most impressive part of this band is there volume control and balance. They never over blow each other. The Soloist are easily heard.

  • Tacoma Concert Band always stellar entertainment

by Sandy on 11/29/23Pantages Theater - TacomaRating: 5 out of 5

We’ve been going to this band’s performances for years now, and they never fail to be the best of professional concerts with unique venues! Music performed in often fun, in addition to being stimulating and educational. We appreciate conductor’s input and historical explanations of the pieces played. Always enjoyable.

  • Excellent Performance, As Always

    by Gene M on 10/24/23Pantages Theater - TacomaRating: 5 out of 5

TCB’s Hallow-e’en themed concert at Pantages Theater in Tacoma October 21 (A Night on Bald Mountain) continued their tradition of great musicianship. There was something for everyone: well-known musical selections from popular movies as well as transcriptions of orchestral pieces (Mussorgsky’s “Night on Bald Mountain” and Berlioz’s “Witches’ Sabbath”). Even opera was on the program: the famous aria for coloratura soprano “Queen of the Night” from Mozart’s fantastical opus “The Magic Flute”. The vocal artist scheduled to perform the aria with the band was forced to cancel suddenly the week of the concert. TCB carried on, with principal cornetist Morris Northcutt performing the aria on piccolo trumpet! Adding to the enjoyment of the evening, many in the audience attended in Hallow-e’en costume!

I have been going to these concerts for years and really enjoy them. This last concert where the 2nd half was a symphony was probably my all time favorite piece TCB has done. BRAVO!!

Loved every minute of the concert last Saturday. As a newbie to the Tacoma Concert Band (only my second time seeing them), I’m hooked. I look forward to next season. I wish the concert hall would be full though. You put on a wonderful show.

  • Tacoma Concert Band Christmas Concert 2022

    by M. P. on 12/18/22Pantages Theater - TacomaRating: 5 out of 5

We mainly attended with two of our adult children as our youngest adult son was performing with the Tacoma Concert Band as a substitute in the trumpet section. He also had a student sitting in as the student was nominated by our son to have an intern experience. The concert was great and our balcony seats were perfect!
