About

Tab Benoit is a Grammy nominated singer, songwriter and guitarist who has built a remarkable 30+ year career on the foundation of his gritty and soulful Delta swamp blues, acquiring a devoted legion of fans along the way, as well as 5 Blues Music Awards, including BB King Entertainer of the Year (twice) and an induction into The Louisiana Music Hall of Fame.  He has recorded and/or performed with Junior Wells, George Porter Jr, Dr. John, Willie Nelson, Big Chief Monk Boudreaux, Billy Joe Shaver, Maria Muldaur, James Cotton, Cyril Neville, Kenny Aronoff, Allen Toussaint, Kim Wilson, Jimmy Thackery, Charlie Musslewhite, Kenny Neal, Chris Layton, Ivan Neville, Jimmy Hall, Jim Lauderdale, Anders Osborne, and Alvin Youngblood Hart to name a few. Tab's accomplishments as a musician are matched only by his devotion to the environmental health of his native Louisiana wetlands. Benoit is the founder and driving force behind Voice of the Wetlands, an organization working to preserve the coastal waters of his home state. In 2010, he received the Governor's Award for Conservationist of the Year from the Louisiana Wildlife Federation. Benoit also starred in the iMax motion picture Hurricane on the Bayou, a documentary of Hurricane Katrina's effects and a call to protect and restore the wetlands.

  • Great night!

    by Chazz51 on 3/25/10Little Bear - EvergreenRating: 4 out of 5

Despite the blizzard the Little Bear rocked. Tab has a new drummer and his original bass from long ago. They all were super.

Have not seen him in concert before - fell in love with him tonight! I have most of his albums and will continue to buy anything he produces....

  • Plaza Theatre a good venue for Tab!

by ShariDell on 2/21/10The Plaza Theatre - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

Tab never fails to deliver, even under the worst of conditions. He loves his craft and it shows. I've seen Tab at many different outdoor venues, but I enjoyed and, I think, so did he, the comfortable indoor setting at the Plaza Theatre. I didn't think I would, because I'm used to being able to get close to the stage, but I think the theatre setting made the whole crowd of attendees a little more restrained and therefore all of us could enjoy the show because no one was standing and blocking anyone's view. I think he felt comfortable and able to engaged the crowd in conversation. I do wish the set had been longer. At other venues, he plays up two hours, with a short break. I would travel just about any where in the state to see him, but it was nice to have him back in Orlando after such a long time. The Plaza Theatre should make him a regular on their calendar. Orlando needs more blues shows of his ilk.

  • Tab Benoit at The Rhythm Room...ok for a Sunday..

by yetbo on 12/25/09Rhythm Room - PhoenixRating: 3 out of 5

Tab Benoit is a talented artist but neds to surround himself with band members that are of his level or at least include other musicians that can play harmonica another guitarist or even a B3 player. His energy level during the performance was great but the performance itself became boring due to lack of other instruments in the band. Otherwise, going acoustic in a small venue such as the Rhythm Room would be interesting.

  • Tab Benoit was amazing again!!

    by milesbeyond5657 on 12/21/09Rhythm Room - PhoenixRating: 5 out of 5

Tab Benoit was in top form Sunday night at the Rhythm Room. He was smoking on the Fender Telecaster, as well as on the drums for a short time! I'm not sure who's older, Tab or his guitar! Tab played several songs from his most recent album, Night Train to Nashville. I had the good fortune to catch Tab play in Euless, Tx., about 9 years ago. He was absolutely great last night, just as he was back in Texas years ago.

  • Tab Benoit - too much talk.....

    by Marty14 on 12/21/09Rhythm Room - PhoenixRating: 3 out of 5

Tab Benoit can sing and play well. But his 2 piece accompanists did not give him the warmth of his recordings, and he talked too much between songs.

  • Tab Benoit was great

by ladycajunfan on 12/4/09Little Bear - EvergreenRating: 5 out of 5

Fantastic show. The Little Bear is an old building, very rustic and authentic, but the sound system was great and you can't beat it for the feeling of intimacy with the band. It felt like you were in someones living room watching a great band play. Benoit was fantastic. If you have never heard his music or his style I highly recommend it. The band itself was friendly and approachable, took many pictures with the audience, signed autographs and was very entertaining.

The Slippery Noodle was a great place. The atmosphere was perfect for a blues musician. Tab was wonderful. He didn't leave the stage. We drove 3.5 hours to get here and were not disappointed.

First time seeing Tab and my 1st time at the Slippery Noodle. Both are amazing. Tab is very genuine and awesome with his guitar. Had a fun and energetic bass guitarist also. I've never seen a large man move like that!

Tab started playing at 9:00 and was still playing at 11:30 when we left and had still not taken a break, the guy is a machine. He was outstanding!!!! Hard driving play with a band that is tight as any band I have seen.

I was not disappointed by this electrifying concert by the Tab Benoit trio. The guitar work, percussion, and vocals were phenomenal. I've seen Tab on many occasions and he always puts on a fantastic show. Never a dull moment with high energy blues. He's a great guitar player and and plays with pure passion. If you're a blues lover, don't miss an opportunity to see him. If you're not into the blues, you should see him anyway. He'll convert you.
