Syracuse Orange Football at JMA Wireless Dome

The big, echoing Loud House is one of college sports' most iconic venues, a response to a question that no one was asking, but everyone was delighted to learn the answer to: What would it be like if sports were played in an enormous bubble? Syracuse's football, basketball and lacrosse teams all do battle under the signature inflatable roof of the JMA Wireless Dome. The stadium opened in 1980, with an HVAC company lending its name (but not its air-conditioning units, as many sweaty fans have noticed over the years). Today, the JMA Wireless Dome is the largest domed stadium on any college campus, with a seating capacity for football games of nearly 50,000. In 2018, the university announced it would do away with the bubble roof, replacing it with a fixed roof, parts of which would be translucent.

If you're going to a game, be sure to check out the statue of Syracuse great Ernie Davis, the first black man to win a Heisman Trophy. It's located between the JMA Wireless Dome and the nearby quad. And don't forget to do a Dome Stomp in the channels of the stadium's outer walls. Stand in one of the grooves, jump up and slam your feet on the ground. You'll make your own thunder.

Syracuse Orange Football History

Since its founding in 1889, Syracuse football has racked up more than 700 wins and one consensus national championship (for the 1959 season). More than anything, though, it is best known for the players who've passed through this part of Central New York. Look no further than the guys who've worn Syracuse's No. 44. They include three of the greatest running backs ever to put on cleats: Jim Brown (a lacrosse superstar as well), Ernie "The Elmira Express" Davis and Floyd Little (who broke the rushing records set by Davis and Brown before him).

    Syracuse Football weekend

by Tommy Boy on 10/3/23JMA Wireless Dome - Syracuse

The seats were great. SU lost the game so a bit of a bummer but I had a great time nonetheless. Electronic tickets were easy to use even for this old sod. The university put on a great show. The dome is a great plus. The people working at the stadium were very cordial and welcoming. I will go again.

    Terrible seats

by Jenn on 10/3/23JMA Wireless Dome - Syracuse

Our seats were terrible with a partially obstructed view and that should have been noted when purchasing the tickets. It was a disappointing experience. We spent more money on seats assuming that more expensive meant better and that was not the case.

    Orange Blowout

by Jreb on 9/5/23JMA Wireless Dome - Syracuse

The home opener for SU football resulted in a blowout win over Colgate. Ticketmaster made our ticket selection/payment and delivery seamless and worry-free as always! As a Syracuse alumni I rely on Ticketmaster for yearly trips back to the Orange campus as well as other ticket needs and I’m never disappointed!

by Mark norton on 11/16/22JMA Wireless Dome - Syracuse

No offense; I brought my family ( brother and sister, from out of state), very disappointing; nice seats; nice stadium; impressed with new changes; security and attendants were very nice and accomodating

    Great venue, poor quality food!

by MC on 11/15/22JMA Wireless Dome - Syracuse

The venue was extremely well organized from entry to exiting and everything in between, with the exception of the food. All food was cold (hotdog, pizza ...) no matter which concession you went to and the quality was poor. Even the soft preztels were hard and small.

    FSU vs Syracuse football

    by G. S. on 11/15/22JMA Wireless Dome - Syracuse

The JMA Dome had an electric atmosphere for the game with friendly fans, at least from everything I encountered. We arrived in town Friday and left Sunday morning. Our visit was great, from Dinosaur BBQ to the Thompson Road Tavern the locals was very hospitable and engaging with us. Will definitely return in the future for another game.

    JMA Wireless Irony

by Not an Orange Fan on 11/1/22JMA Wireless Dome - Syracuse

My only gripe is that for a place named after a supposed wireless provider I’d be damned if I could get a signal anywhere in or around that dome. Some ambulance chasing attorney should class action JMA wireless into bankruptcy for the total lack of connectivity in or around the dome bearing its name.

    Disappointment at the dome

by Debo on 11/1/22JMA Wireless Dome - Syracuse

This was our first time using ticketmaster. It was confusing to download Google wallet. We had no idea if our electronic tickets would work, until we got to the gate. Our aisle seats were terrible. With so many people going up and down, you could hardly watch the game! To top it off, we were issued a parking ticket for not knowing which side of the road was odd or even for event parking. It was both an expensive and disappointing day indeed!

Trick or treat in the Loud House

by All Orange on 11/1/22JMA Wireless Dome - Syracuse

A very enthusiastic wound up sold out sea of orange was on hand for a big showdown. Our seats had a perfect view on the mezzanine level. The sold out crowd moved threw the gates very smoothly and on time. The inside of the Dome was a colorful spectacle of lights and Orange. The game did not go as well but as we would have liked but, it was a fun day cheering Syracuse on.

    Good game day experience

by Sparky on 11/1/22JMA Wireless Dome - Syracuse

The Orange lost, but the game day experience was fun. Go early to the Quad for the band show about 2 hours before game start. Outdoor bar was good, then inside the game day prices on beer and food is reasonable. Get a dome dog-- delish!

    Great SU Game

by Sue on 10/18/22JMA Wireless Dome - Syracuse

Overall great experience. Despite crowd it was easy to get to and from my off campus parking area via the university shuttle. It did not hurt that SU won.

    Wireless Dome? Stay on brand

by Darth on 10/18/22JMA Wireless Dome - Syracuse

Since they renovated the Carrier Dome, which had no sponsored air conditioning, to the JMA Wireless Dome, Syracuse remains off brand. There is no good JMA wireless bandwidth or Verizon coverage in there. It’s actually worse than years passed. So there is a branding problem with the “dome.” Given the youth desire for connectivity, JMA and SU need to fix that when there is a large crowd trying to post what is happening. Otherwise the event, SU vs. NC State, was a good game. The video screens are new and clear, the field is well lit, and the acoustics still suck to hear the band or announcements.

The Dome was incredible and a great game for SU on parents weekend. Seats were worth the greater expense.
