After years of waiting to see them, I finally did...It was a great show with a diverse, energetic and appreciative crowd.
What a wonderful event. Swing Out Sister's first ever show in Boston. So we had to wait more than 20 years to see them, but was it ever worth it. Corrine Drewery looked wonderful and sounded even better. Their backing band was anchored by a terrific Boston gal, percussionist Jody Linscott.
What a treat! The show was amazing. SOS reworked some of their classics and threw in a few surprises like they always do. A must see live band. I can't wait for the next tour. 25 years and still going strong!
What a FANTASTIC show! Finally got to see one of my favorite bands live....Such a great group of very talented musicians.....Corrine engaged the audience in between songs with friendly banter, and encouraged some audience "sing alongs" with some of their better known tunes....Very tight performance....Each musician was given a little "solo" time....Just a perfect performance in every way....I hope I get to see them again sooner than later!
The remixes of standard SOS tunes was hot! Love the band. Singing and percussionist were the night's highlight. The band was really appreciative of the Atlanta love. I was so delighted at the crowds response to Corinne and Gina. The only downer is that I miss the horns from the albums. Live horns would have made this concert a 6 out of 5!
My husband and I are both passionate lovers of music, especially jazz, and live performances. SOS has been a favorite of mine for many years and my husband has become a fan listening to my cds over the years. This was one of the best concert experiences we've ever had, bar none. We sang, danced, and experienced a sort of SOS "high" along with all the other appreciative fans in the packed venue --quite a party. We truly appreciated these rich, ultra cool new arrangements of the familiar hits we've been listening to for years (some are on the new Private View cd along with new songs too) sounding so fresh and exciting while remaining recognizable, singable and engaging as always -- no small feat!! Thank You SOS! Best money we've spent on a show in a loooong time!
I was very much looking forward to seeing this concert. We have waited several years for SOS to come back to the US. Corinne, an excellent entertainer, has so much quality material to choose from when doing a show. It is obvious that she is tired of performing their music as recorded. Unfortunately, the show was filled with either remixes of SOS songs or material from other artists. As she stated in an interview before the show, you probably won't recognize some of our songs. That is sad that she no longer performs the songs in the format that made her famous. There are many entertainers, much older than Corinne, that have no problem singing what the fans want to hear. In addition, the security at the show was ridiculously over the top. No video, no flash and people weren't allowed to leave their seats to take a picture. I asked if I could bring a flower to the stage and I was told ''absolutely not." I attend many concerts each year and this one was without a doubt my biggest disappointment.
I purchased seat numbers 59 and 60 needless to say that's not where my guest and I sat. That was really disappointing. Seating option was not good. I was go see Swing Out Sister again but not at this venue.
totally loved the swing out sister concert on the 2013 tour. enjoyed it much more than i even expected i would. they are awesome.
I have been waiting 27 years to see Swing Out Sister. They didn't play for as long as I had hoped, but the show was fantastic!!! Very tight band. Corinne sounds great. The vibe was very cool and the crowd was great. If you are a Swing Out Sister fan - DON'T MISS THIS SHOW. Corinne also signed and took photos with fans after the show. Fun for ages 8-80 (as Sheldon would say). Please come back soon Corinne.
Fantastic band, keep getting better with time. Incredible muscianship, great songs and arrangements, absolutley a "must see" if you have the chance.
Corinne and Andy haven't lost their touch. Fabulous is all I can say. Thank you for the best show I have seen in years. Please come back again soon.
I wasn't as famaliar with the band as my husband was so I really didn't know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised at how good they were. They put on a great show and from what I understand it has been a long time since they were in Atlanta. Great show!! We will want to go and see them the next time they come across the pond.
Swing Out Sister's jazzy Brit pop reminded me how much I LOVE their music. They performed a great selection of songs from all albums, and recast a few with new instruments and beats. And their love for performing for the crowd shined through. Very personable group. The crowd represented a great cross section of Atlanta... Variety Playhouse was great and convenient for me, but hope SOS can experience Chastain Amphitheater sometime in the future. ;-)
An unforgettable performance ! Swing out Sister was awesome! The performance and sound was truly magical. Along with the venue acoustics it was an amazing concert.
Great show! The songs were all remixed but it worked! Corrine Drewery sounds and looks great! I would catch them again in the future.
Swing Out Siter was just incredible... The talent in that band was exceptional... The conga player was inspiring.. She was so into it.... As for Corinne sings like an angel... OMG... Sounds like she did 20 years ago.... They played for a little over 2 hours,.,, Man that girl can sing and the band was great!!! She is very beautiful also... Now lets talk about where she played.. yikes.... I was like really... In Allston the Brighton Music Hall.. more like a bar in the back streets of Boston... No chairs... Had so stand for 3 hours... That sucked... I am hoping the next time she comes it will be at Scullers Jazz Club in Boston.... Thats where she belongs not in some bar in the back streets of Boston...
Swing Out Sister in New York City was one of the most amazing concerts I ever attended. I was impressed that they started exactly on time, and that they had no opening act. Sometimes opening acts are overrated. You just want to see the band you want to see, and the die hard fans there certainly did. I would see them over and over again. Bravo to Corinne, Andy, and the entire band!
First time I'd ever seen SOS in person. Hopefully, not the last. Corinne, Andy and company put on a non-stop funfest for nearly two hours. Nary a dull moment in this thoroughly wonderful and entertaining show. Corinne teased us with the opening lines from "Love Hangover." Perhaps it's time for them to do the entire song?
I really enjoyed the show, I can't wait to see them again.
