    Supersonico was the BOMB!!!

by CAYADV on 10/15/14Shrine Expo Hall and Grounds - Los Angeles

This was an incredibly fun event! The line-up of bands were excellent and I look forward to this becoming an annual event. My only recommendation would be to have more food trucks as the lines were too long.

    EVERYTHING WAS AWESOME.

by lalalalala1 on 10/15/14Shrine Expo Hall and Grounds - Los Angeles

Please do this again next year. All the musica was amazing. The television for the mainstage could have been higher so people can see it from the beer lines. Beer lines could have been better. Portable bathrooms could have been better organized and maintained.

Supersonico was good, but not great.

by eeeeggggg on 10/15/14Shrine Expo Hall and Grounds - Los Angeles

Here are my general thoughts on the show and its main acts: 1. I have talented friends (I got to dance to Canyonazo for a bit - always good) 2. Bomba Estéreo is always good. Li Saumet is still a firecracker. 3. Ana Tijoux is lovely, always lovely. It's been awesome to see her do so well as the years pass. She is so much better live than in the studio, it is almost unbelievable hearing the words flow from her mouth. She is, undoubtedly, the best female MC in the world. And definitely in my top 10, regardless of sex/gender. 4. Calle 13 is dope. Doper than I thought; it was my first time seeing them. They are 3 siblings plus a full, incredible band. Major shout outs to their female member, Ileana Cabra J. PG-13 who I think brings a lot to the group. I do think, however, that Calle 13 is better in the studio than live. 5. Café Tacuva is legendary, and amazing to see live. I feel like I can stop going to all live music shows now that I've seen them (and Bajofondo, Aterciopelados, Jarabe de Palo, etc.) and danced to all my favorites. When they played Las Flores my body just filled up with the wildest energy I didn't even know was in there after 5+ hours of standing at the concert. I told myself if they opened with el Baile y el Salon that I would leave after that first song. Well, they did open with that song, and of course I couldn't leave after that! Ha ha. The lead singer Rubén Isaac Albarrán Ortega totally has my heart. I know my sweetheart doesn't mind. To have so many good acts under one roof was extraordinary. However, there are certain things that would have made the show better. It seemed that there weren't enough food options (I wasn't hungry, fortunately, but the lines were crazy long), especially for an event that didn't allow outside food. Not cool. I was thinking about how crazy big shows/fests like this get and I was letting myself wander with the thoughts of how an event like this would be in the structurally and socially highly-advanced countries of Scandinavia. For example, instead of people just crowding around the front, pushing each other and trying to get to the front at the very end of the show when the big names come up, there would be a system of sections based on heights. Shorter people naturally would naturally have space in the front, whereas taller people would have spaces in the back. I don't think that Scandinavian countries actually do this; I don't think they even have enough height diversity for such a system, heh heh. But this kind of system would eliminate some of the pushing and unfortunate social interactions that end up happening, especially towards the front of the audience. It was/is always kind of ironic that performers like Calle 13 and Ana Tijoux preach issues of social justice and taking care of one another (which the majority of people voraciously cheer at when mentioned in between songs), while concert etiquette/repsect for others is totally thrown out the window in the heat of the freaking-out-fan moments. Un poco absurdo, no? Would be kind of cool if the event producers, or the artists themselves, called this out and established more accountability on this.

Awesome line up...long long long lines :-(

by Vero1928 on 10/14/14Shrine Expo Hall and Grounds - Los Angeles

Awesome line up of artists/musicians but I wasn't able to see all the bands/artists that I wanted to see because seems like they were scheduled to perform at same time. I had to make difficult decision to miss one over the other but that's true of most festivals like coachella. However, that is not the reason for the 3 stars instead of 5. The lines for food and alcohol were horrible!!! Worse lines ever!!! I saw Bomba Estereo and Ana tijoux from the line just to get a freakin grill cheese sandwich (which wasn't that great btw). My recommendation for future supersonicos is working on those lines and creating a more efficient system of fast tracking the process. I've gone to Dia de los muertos at Hollywood Forever and although lines have been long seems like they have more success in minimizing long lines. Maybe food trucks were a bad idea...just putting it out there. The concept is cool but the execution not so great. Other than that it was a fun festival and neat to see such talent come together in one place.

Cafe Tacuba is the best Mexican band ever!

by Sol3 on 10/14/14Shrine Expo Hall and Grounds - Los Angeles

Awesome line up of bands: Santa Cecilia, Nortec, Cafe Tacuba, and the list goes on. It was a great venue.

    cafe tacvba! !

Loved all of it except the food trucks too long of lines. Some food trucks were more oranganized than others.

    Cafe Tacvba stole the show

by Incu86 on 10/14/14Shrine Expo Hall and Grounds - Los Angeles

The overall atmosphere of the event was amazing. Dancing from the moment my niece and I walked in. All the acts were great, Los Rakas, Lizzo, Ana Tijux, Los Macuanos, Deorro I think it was. Calle 13 but by far my favorite was of course Cafe Tacvba. They were extraordinary, energy through the roof. I smiled, I laughed, I danced I cried. Cafe Tacvba is the best!!!

    Great Lineup!!

by ChapinaLatina on 10/14/14Shrine Expo Hall and Grounds - Los Angeles

This was such a great event, the lineup was sick!!! All performances were fun and full of energy. The only thing I feel the event lack was coordination on the time sets. I was extremely disappointed with the 3 different stages that didn't allow you enough time to see all performances. The early bands lacked audience because of it. Hope on future events they can consider that there are some of us that enjoy seeing ALL artist perform.

    Definitely a cultural happening!

by azuredaystar on 10/14/14Shrine Expo Hall and Grounds - Los Angeles

I really enjoyed this show. It was great to see acts displaying different musical medleys. It would have been great if La Santa Cecilia had played a little later. Overall it was great!

Plenty of great acts; too much crappy beer

by Miguelaz0 on 10/14/14Shrine Expo Hall and Grounds - Los Angeles

I enjoyed the shows. It's a shame that La Santa Cecilia was scheduled so early-- she's a rising star and has helped reinvigorate the Latin music scene in LA. Calle 13 was best, Cafe Tacuba was solid, but Los Master Plus were a pleasant surprise. Those guys really know how to put on a show! Unfortunately, this venue did not have NEARLY enough food vendors available-- you had to wait in line for over half an hour just for the bar lines, and twice that for the few food trucks. It was especially disappointing that there were not better beer options. Most of the bar taps were Bud Light, with Stella as an alternate. Seriously?

    Legit

by Papaya00 on 10/14/14Shrine Expo Hall and Grounds - Los Angeles

The whole event was awesome! The only negative thing about the fest was the limited number of vendors there. The lines were pretty insane so eating was out the question. But I enjoyed the experience and the bands.

    Great Line up

by MuyChevere on 10/14/14Shrine Expo Hall and Grounds - Los Angeles

This event was amazing!! The timing for all the artists flowed really nicely. The venue was beautiful and spacious, while there were only two main bathrooms indoors there were plenty of porter potties outdoors. There was plenty of booze available but $14 for a large cup of stella it was pretty steep. I did expect more when it came to the vendors and the food available, for the amount of people there was just not enough. In that vein, there was very little seating available. I can't stress how wonderful the line up was because at the end of it all the music kept you going and in a blink of an eye it was over, I definitely got my moneys worth.

    Awesome !!

by AlexD2014 on 10/14/14Shrine Expo Hall and Grounds - Los Angeles

There was a great ambiance. The bands were great. The people were all having fun. I'm looking forward to attending next year again. We got there @ around 6pm, we missed some of the bands. However, I think it was perfect timing- we still enjoyed 5 hours of bands/people/drinks. It was great.

    Amazing headliners!

by Tony323 on 10/14/14Shrine Expo Hall and Grounds - Los Angeles

This was one of the best mini-festivals I've been to ever, literally! The main stage had great talent all night long. Bomba Estereo got the party started and Deorro brought it hard with his killer house set. Calle 13 was probably the best act of the night, rocking good songs to groove to. And Cafe Tacvba had people jumping and moshing at times which was super awesome. Audio quality was great, and the large projector display in the rear was excellent for those of us who couldn't make it to the front of the stage. Restrooms were easily accessible, as were the beer stands. My only suggestion is more food trucks and perhaps in a different location; the long food lines would jam the walking area between stages. All in all, 5 stars all the way!

Great selection of groups/bands/dj's. Need to get more stationary bars and food trucks as we had to wait in line up to 50 minutes to get a beer or 1.5 hours to buy food. That really was an inconvenience.

VIP was awful, but acts were great!

by Anonymous on 10/14/14Shrine Expo Hall and Grounds - Los Angeles

the VIP was a joke. i felt taken advantage of. the VIP only provided good access to the interior stage. but for the outside stage or lounge, there wasn't an VIP access. that should have been explained. also, we stood in line for 2 hours for the food truck. even the drink lines were ridiculously long. in addition, i had to go to 4 places in order to obtain my VIP and over 21 badges. the security people sent me to wrong place 2 times. clearly, this wasn't planned appropriately. i would like my money refunded, at least to pay what everyone else paid.
