    Stylistics Are Simply Amazing

by CyntDerden on 3/1/11Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

I attend the 70's Super Jam every year and am never disappointed with the performance of the Stylistics. This year I invited my cousins from Rock Island, IL and my 24 year old son also attended. Good music and a good time had by all. What an awesome show.

    Jammin; In the '70s!

by Bozinator on 3/1/11Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

Ever wonder where those artists from the 1970s have gone? They are still performing - not just their classic and memorable hits, but feaaturing new songs, as well! It was nothing less than "amazing" to sit at the Fox - Detroit's premier concert venue - and watch these artists belt out those songs that make the whole house rock! Such a treat to hear those songs, and to see how much the artists enjoy singing them to an audience who truly appreciates both the beats, and the lyrics. You didn't need that 'in your face,' every-other-word-is-a-cuss-word stuff to get your message across back then, and these performers prove you really don't need it today. This music is timeless, and it was wonderful to see a capacity audience comprised of every age group, including kids! These artists didn't forget the words, and still got the moves!

    70S SUPER JAM

by CoolPapaT on 3/1/11Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

The overall show was Great. It's amazing that all the artist still had there original sound, and their showmanship was phenomenal. I would have liked to have heard more music from the Dramatics, however under the circumstantes I understand because some of them were under the weather.

I normally dont listen to old school jams but I went to this show anyway. It was great. The Floaters really know how to open a show.

    This concert was "Fantabulous"

by SCask on 2/28/11Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

So many groups, not enough time. Memories of the 70's, so much fun. Everyone was singing along to their favorite song.I absolutely loved the entire show. It was definitely worth the money. I can't wait until next year. It gets better each year. The Stylistics are my favorite group. But this year, Harold Melvins Blue Notes were great, great, great.

    STYLISTICS WERE OUT COLD!!!!!

by Soulsister8 on 2/28/11Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

THE 70'S JAM WAS GOOD.. I ENJOYED IT AND SO DID MY SON!!! THE JAM WAS OLD SCHOOL SONGS I GREW UP ON ...I WANTED MY SON TO HEAR REAL MUSIC/SONG LIVE!! IT WAS A GOOD CONCERT..HAROLD MELVIN'S BLUE NOTES WAS OUTSTANDING...THE STYLISTICS WAS OUT COLD!!! THE HAVEN'T MISSED A BEAT IN 43 YEARS!!! THE EMOTIONS DID THEIR THANG!! MANHATTANS WERE ALSO GOOD..FLOATERS ARE STILL FLOATING ON....THE DRAMATICS, WHO I WAS EAGER TO HEAR AND SEE WAS MY MOST DISAPPOINTMENT BUT THE STYLISTICS MADE UP FOR THAT!! SO OVERALL I RATE IT A 4 STAR!!!

Good Try - Left Something to Be Desired

by ToniBarnes on 2/28/11Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

All of the groups seemed to need a few more rehearsals. I saw a similar line up in 2005 and the Dramatics last year and overall those performances were far better. The Stylistics who performed were new to me, great songs, but different performers. Was Gerald Austin with the Manhattans? I don't think so. And the Dramatics seemed totally unrehearsed. Check out the Real Deal Sweetest Day Affair on YouTube for a better Dramatics' rendition than the Dramatics brought. Go figure.

You've got to know when hold em, know when to fold

by marlenna on 2/28/11Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

For the ticket price, this concert left me disappointed and let down. Clearly the Manhatans sounded the most like the original releases of the 70s jams. I did not want to come to hear the "remix" versions of 'newer' group members nor did I wish to hear original group members straining to hit or maintain a note. It's time to retire for some of them. This did not conjure great memories or good feelings of a time gone by. Even the Dramatics, whom I had just seen at Chene Park last summer--and they were wonderful with the Whispers--, were unorganized and let me down

    70's Super Jam

by MsKonLacy2 on 2/28/11Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

70's Super Jam show was great. Old school music is the best. The performances were all that we hoped for and more. The only down side is that all the bands were missing a member or two...so sad. But the music was still awesome. Good job to the Stylistics, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, Floaters, Emotions and Dramatics. I really miss Teddy Pendergrass, Ron Banks, and the rest of the icons that are singing in heaven. The show must go on, though and what a good show it was!
