by Sunset411 on 6/23/13New Century Theatre - MinneapolisThis was excellent, to be honest much better than expected. I would recommend to all our friends, and we are not regulars to musicals or plays.
Rating: 1 out of 5 Left before Act 2
by LovinBuble on 6/22/13New Century Theatre - MinneapolisWhen the lead actor of the show can't sing on key, it makes for a miserable musical theater experience. My friends and I left after Act 1 - we would have left sooner, but didn't want to disturb anyone else.
Rating: 5 out of 5by Anonymous on 6/15/13New Century Theatre - Minneapolis Sunset Boulevard was terrific. The lead actors were amazing especially Norma and Joe.
Rating: 4 out of 5 We loved Sunset Blvd!
by sqep on 6/12/13New Century Theatre - MinneapolisEverything about this show is great. The intimate setting the fabulous cast and music. What an enjoyable evening.
Rating: 1 out of 5 Ugh
by showprince on 6/11/13New Century Theatre - MinneapolisUnbelievably bad. Norma in yards of cheap fabric and scuffed up ballet slippers. Great idea of setting it in an a asylum but nothing was done with it. Very bad theatre. A big step backward from the Illusion. Obviously the company has never heard of tailors, hairpins, slips or shoe polish. Go see Urinetown at Jungle - music theatre heaven.
Rating: 5 out of 5 Sunset Blvd was fantastic!
by carlsm5 on 6/11/13New Century Theatre - MinneapolisSunset Blvd was a delightful time, with fantastic singing and acting. MMT is full of tallented actors which made for an unforgetable evening. The intimate venue of the New Century Theater made you feel like you were part of the action. I would recommend seeing this play and any other put on by this company.
Rating: 2 out of 5by Anonymous on 6/10/13New Century Theatre - Minneapolis It was totally not worth the money spent based on the time and set of the production.
Rating: 4 out of 5 Sunset Boulevard
by toivi on 6/10/13New Century Theatre - MinneapolisHaving seen the original Toronto production with Diane Carol my wife and I were wondering how well it wold translate to a small stage. To our amazement and pleasure we found the production brilliant. The director's use of screen images and first setting it in a nursing home were excellent choices and the cast from Norma down to the Ensemble could not have been better. The singing voices of everyone were strong and really fit the characters. WE are telling our friends about the production and they should hurry to get tickets!
Rating: 2 out of 5by KDM5081 on 6/10/13New Century Theatre - Minneapolis The production quality and the acting/singing for Sunset Boulevard was fine. My biggest complaint is: This is a HUGE show. It really needed a bigger space. I did not care for the way the set looked or how it was used. It always looked like a hospital ward to me. I think the idea that she imprisoned herself and then Joe in this huge, dark mansion is key to this show and successfully understanding and perhaps even empathizing with the characters. I wanted to feel more for Norma, instead I just could not connect with her. I personally think a more realistic set would have helped a great deal, which is why I say this was just too small of a venue for this show. I loved the space and would really like to see PLAYS done here. The intimacy of this space would lend itself perfectly for many types of plays. I did not care for the camera live shots; it was distracting.
