    Unparalleled Gospel Singing

by MrsReid on 2/26/13Howard Theatre - Washington

This professional level choir sings with precision, beauty and harmony. The accompanying musicians add to another dimension to the music, while the soloists are all quite good. The new Howard Theatre was a far more intimate and engaging environment to see the WPAS Gospel Choir than the Kennedy Center.

    One of a Kind!

    by Rebecca322 on 2/26/13Howard Theatre - Washington

Attended my first gospel brunch at Howard Theater and was very impressed with the renovated theater and even more so with the performance. I only wished the music lasted longer.

    Just okay

by mamaRobin8 on 12/19/12House of Blues Chicago - Chicago

My husband and I went to the HOB Gospel Brunch several years ago on our 10th anniversary and had a much different experience. This time, we took my inlaws as their Christmas gift and wanted to give them a great experience and memory. The food was okay - and the people and service at HOB are great BUT - the show was so short. I felt like we were herded in and out of there way too quickly with very little time to go back for 2nds....which is what you want to do at a brunch when you're paying extra dough for your meal, yes? The show was also just okay - the choir only sang two songs independently and then kept bringing audience members up on stage to join in and enjoy a few minutes in the spotlight. Much of this was lighthearted and fun but then I felt like....why am I paying all this money for a sing-a-long? Kinda bummed we spent $250 for the six of us.....hurried meal, just okay show - sadly, not worth the money we spent.

Gospel Brunch at Chicago's House of Blues

Great way to brunch on Sunday!

by Ltlino on 11/20/12House of Blues Chicago - Chicago

All in all, it was everything I expected from a small group of very talented and passionate gospel singers. In our group of 3, we all found food that we enjoyed from the assortment offered. Wished we had gotten all our food, including dessert, and then sat down. Where we were seated it was awkward to get up once the performance started. Servers were great & very friendly as well as attentive. The most negative aspect was getting charged a whopping $12 service fee per ticket that we picked up at will call. It was also a little tight in pit seating - felt a bit like a cattle call!

Too much time spent singing along instead of hearing the talented voices. Food and service was very good.

    Save your money!

by Disappointedvisitors on 8/26/12B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New York

Me and my wife spent a week in New York in May and had a really great time there with musicals, strolling, shopping, dining, shows etc. It was really great - expect for the visit at B.B. King Blues club and grill. It was really terrible! We could not sit together, the food was crap as well as the service. The show was not even close to our expectations: Too much talking about irrelevant stuff between every song so the atmosphere of joy and good time that we expected from having seen Harlem Gospel Choir on TV was never there. The singers was ok, though, but that did not compensate for the show. In fact, we both regret that we did not leave before the show was ended.

Harlem Gospel Choir was very good.

by Pootney on 6/20/12B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New York

The Harlem Gospel Choir-Sunday Brunch was very good. However, I expected a more solid performance and perhaps more choir member participants. I am a gospel music lover and would have enjoyed more relevant songs and quality vocalists. There was too much wasted time in the short 90 minute presentation (i.e., Happy Birthday session seemed to have lasted 20 minutes). Much too long and unnecessary. The brunch was excellent. Enjoyed having a variety of food selections. However, beverages were a disappointment.

Harlem Gospel Choir - Angels Sing!

Loved the Harlem Gospel Choir. Great seating. Did wish they had sung a couple of familiar hymns like When the Saints Go Marching In

    Uplifting

by Anonymous on 5/2/12B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New York

We had travelled from the UK and were so looking forward to this event. The food was OK and plenty of it. Very well organised. Drinks were very expensive although juices, coffee and tea were included in the buffet. The actual Gospel Choir were very uplifting and fabulous, however, we did think that they would perform for more than the very short hour. We came away feeling a little disappointed. It was expensive for what we got.

    Top class singers

by Halo49 on 4/24/12B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New York

For sure it is an event for tourists, but the quality of the singing is amazing and the material is not only the usual gospel standards. The food is ok.

harlem gospel choir at BB Kings

by tony188076 on 4/3/12B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New York

A drummer, a bass, a keyboard developed great rhythm and harmonic back up for choir. There was an authentic Christian ministry woven throughout which was inclusive respectful and helped extend the artistic reach of their work. . Several choir members each were the key point person for their song. great music great food and great people

    Gospel Brunch

by Anonymous on 3/29/12House of Blues Chicago - Chicago

The food was good. I did not like how everyone waited downstairs in the lobby and then we were all squeezed into one line to give our tickets and then sit. I felt like I was waiting for a ride at Disney World. Also, the song set was really short. They performed for 45 minutes and I thought it would have been at least an hour. The doors open at 10am and the performance didn't start until 10:45am. It ended at 11:30am. I felt like it was really rushed and short.
