About

In 2018, Atlanta-based singer/songwriter Summer Walker (LVRN/Interscope Records) arrived on the scene with her emotive single "Girls Need Love." After the first listen, the young singer left listeners enthralled by her ethereal vocals and searing honesty. The song became an instant success, going triple-platinum and earning the remix treatment from music icon Drake.

Walker's stardom crescendoed when she released her debut album Over It in 2019. With a fistful of singles at her disposal, including "Playing Games" [2X Platinum] feat. Bryson Tiller and "Come Thru" [1X Platinum] with Usher, Walked evolved into a significant player in the R&B circuit by carving out an outstanding effort for the genre. Associated Press voted the acclaimed project No. 2 on their Top 50 albums list of 2019.

Walker has racked up numerous accolades because of her scorching run with Over It, including two Soul Train Music Awards in 2019 and 2020 for Best New Artist and Album of the Year, respectively. In 2020, she won an iHeart Music Award for Best New R&B Artist and Top R&B Female Artist for Billboard that same year. "Come Thru" and "Playing Games" helped Walker win several ASCAP Awards as well. Last year, she also graced several illustrious magazine covers, including Rolling Stone's Musicians on Musicians issue, Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players issue.

She also treated fans to her Life on Earth EP, which debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard 200. In December 2020, she launched her new imprint Ghetto Earth Records in a joint venture with Interscope Records. The first artist she signed was singer/songwriter NO1-NOAH.

Summer upped the ante with her lauded sophomore album Still Over It. Tacked with starry features from SZA, Ari Lennox, and more, the R&B neophyte landed her first Billboard 200 No. 1 album by 166,000 album-equivalent units. Summer's volcanic debut broke the record for the highest one-week streams by a female R&B act, with 201 million song streams in its opening week. Still Over It was also the first album by a female R&B singer to debut at No. 1 since Solange's A Seat at the Table in 2016.

Accolades poured down for the perennial star as she landed magazine covers for Spin, Sniffers, and NME. Summer was also awarded Chartbreaker for Billboard's Woman in Music celebrations.

She performed well. she literally was out for 45-50 min.. from we were in our seats at 8pm sharp as the event details dictated. she came out at like 9:50 and she was done at 10:45pm if that . other than that it was an experience..

    Here For it!!!!

    by LotusXBubble on 5/30/23

This would be my second concert of hers! 3rd time seeing her perform counting the 2023 SZA Tour. She's one of the Greatest Authentic Singers there is! Baby girl needs NO Autotune. When she sings with her guitar its EVERYTHING!! I Appreciate her initiative to add choregraph this time, but whether if she just stands there or not, SHE IS TALENTED!

    Interesting to say the Least

by Mgj on 8/22/22Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

Well that was my first time seeing her! I gifted my girl these tickets because she loves her! She already warned me she might not show up so of course I bought insurance. The pre-show was the main part of the show. DJ Shay was cool with dropping those hits and she introduced a couple young rappers! When Summer came out we got about 35 minutes personally with her. I feel she needs to tour with others. The show started at 8pm and she didn’t show up until 955pm.

    Summer Walker Detroit

    by DesStokes on 8/21/22

I love me some Summer but baby! The band overpowered her singing at times, and them annoying ass DJs? It felt like a karaoke concert with all the crowd singing. Just wish my baby came out at like 9. Realistically, 30mins of DJing is cool, not almost 2.5 hours. Didn’t like the opening acts, Judy could’ve done without everyone but Summer Walker. I’ll give it 4 stars just because I love her! She sang a good 10 songs! I love my footage ❤️🔥

The opening act was terrible. Summer walker did 5 songs

by Yg on 8/21/22Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

1st hour was a DJ, 2nd hour was opening act which was not good. Then Summer Walker finally came on at 10 which we found out by an worker she had to be off by 11 so she finished at 10:50. She only did 5 songs. The first 3 songs the mic was messed up and could hardly hear her

    Terrible

by Kari on 8/20/22Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

Summer’s voice was barely heard. Her band played over her. The crowd sung over her. 😒 She left the stage for at least 20 mins or more without explanation or apology. First and last Summer walker event for me.

by Ccs on 8/20/22Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

It was alright but she didn’t perform like we wanted her to. I paid 300 for my ticket and was still all the way In the back. She only came and did 5 songs. If you’re going on a tour why not sing the whole album

    Great show, but short

by Mo on 8/20/22Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

I love Summer Walker! I loved the fact that she had a live band! The crowd engagement was great. The show was just short, a little over an hour.

Love Summer Walker but This was Disappointing

by Jazz on 8/20/22Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

The concert was scheduled to start at 8pm. There was 2 and a half hours of opening acts that really made it feel like you were at a club. When she finally came on, she only performed about 4-5 songs and the actual performance was only about 30 minutes

    Highly not recommend

by Bre on 8/20/22Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

The concert was supposed to start at 8 summer didn’t come out until 10 and left the stage at 11:30. Fox should really be on the performer to be on stage at the schedule time. So the fans aren’t out there waiting too long listening to music that we don’t come to hear! Also the fox bar closed right when summer come on stage and had the most rudest bartender saying that they weren’t serving and continued to write on her piece of paper that was in front of her.
