Loved this show. This story is so important and absolutely poignant for the times we're living in. Cast is remarkable and I was so impressed by the production, specifically lighting and sound design. Stellar storytelling all around. 10/10 would reccomend!

  • Theatre artist/climate activist

by Michael on 9/23/25The Theater Center - New YorkRating: 2 out of 5

I feel the intersection of story telling and climate activism is critical. While I appreciate the attempt made by this group, I think they weren’t ready for the level of exposure (nor the expensive ticket prices) they garnered. There are so many scripts in this space that are further along in a development process. Let’s raise our bar; the earth is depending on us all.

  • IT WAS DIFFERENT!

by Yvetterobins on 9/23/25The Theater Center - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

I had an idea of what Sulfur Bottom was about regarding the story. I thought the acting was great, and I was very struck by the actor who played the whale part, and the other actor who played the deer. The way both stayed still for that length of time was impressive. However, the story line evolved as it went on , and I thought it was very good. It was nice talking to the actor who played the role of the first father.

  • Blown Away!

This show was incredible! A unique and refreshing experience that kept me on the edge of my seat. Plot twists and turns along the way that I was not expecting. The writing is sharp and witty and gives a lot to reflect on even after the show.

  • Very good play

by AP on 9/9/25The Theater Center - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

This was a good and apparently under-appreciated play. There were few people in the audience on a Saturday afternoon and I can only attribute this to a PR failure. The play can be taken literally as a portrayal of a family’s struggle while living on polluted ground, as well as metaphorically about the struggle to leave a toxic situation. The acting was fine and the set contributed to the sense of stress experienced by the family. I hope to see more by the playwright and actors in the future.
