We are so excited to announce our upcoming interactive "In the Hands of Fans" Tour! The tour will rely solely on YOUR requests to determine the set list played in each city.
"This year's tour is based around the concept of putting the show into the hands of the fans," said Jennifer. "THEY will make the requests that will help form the set list and guide the show. Through texts, handwritten signs, the Internet (Twitter, Facebook, etc) phone calls made during the show and selections directly from the stage, the fans will become the conductors as well as the audience. If it's on one of our records or if we've played it on a stage it is fair game."
We will begin taking your requests soon! Sign-up here (http://sugarlandmusic.com/requestline) to be alerted when the request line opens.
The 25+ dates will feature openers Lauren Alaina and Canaan Smith (in select cities).
Everything from parking to entry to show and exiting of show was seamless! Sugar land was great!
Both acts (Thompson Square & Sugarland) were amazing. The only issue I had was with the restrictions on the chairs you can bring for sitting on the lawn. Judging from pics pictures posted by other people and messaging with the venue on FB, I was under the impression that the chairs that I had brought were acceptable. When I got there, I was told that they weren't . The seat of the chair was 5 inches too high. Considering that it is damn difficult to get in and out of a beach chair that is basically sitting on the ground, I went with the chair that I was told would be acceptable. However, the chair Gestapo did allow us in, but we had to be in the ADA section, which was OK, as there were not as many people there as the remainder of the venue. One other beef with the venue was the inability for food vendors to accept debit/credit cards.
The concert was great, but the people standing on the sidewalk drinking in front of us did not care that we could not see around them. A little consideration would have been really nice. Maybe a good time for a visiting area. They stood there for over 2 hours talking! But hey Thompson Square and Sugarland were AWESOME! Loved the music!!
What an amazing venue! The vineyard grounds are lovely. The only thing I disliked was that the restrooms were way in the back of the grass seating unless you wanted to wait in a long line at the only restroom up front. I wouldn't take away a star since they probably couldn't do anything logistically to fix that.
This is our third time seeing Sugarland and they never disappoint! My only complaint was the 75 minutes we had to wait in between the first band and until Sugarland came on stage. Ironstone amphitheater is a wonderful location, and we have seen improvements each year, but this wait time was way too long!
It had been years since we had seen Sugarland (since the windstorm that brought down the stage and ended up in many lawsuits). Both Jennifer and Kristian held their own singing their past hits plus some of the newer song - and each one did a solo off. Kristian's son was at this show running back and forth directly in front of the stage taking multiple, what looked like iPhone pictures of his Dad. The show was delayed about 45 minutes from starting no thanks to what appeared to be a fan that had too much to drink (or smoke) and had slipped and hit her head...
Ironstone is one of the best small outdoor venues to see a concert. Beautiful grounds, intimate setting. Relatively easy entry and exit (though could be improved!) But with the relatively small capacity, it's not really that much of an issue. Be sure to print your tickets and don't rely on the app given the weak cell signal at the site. Sugarland provides a good show always... not necessarily the best show this time. A bit too many oddly chosen cover songs and not enough of their own best material. But still entertaining none the less.
This was a girls weekend and we love the Ironstone venue. We were a bit concerned about the heat. No worries though because we found a great spot in the shade and settled in. I'm not a huge country fan so was not familiar with Thompson Square or Sugarland. Well I'm a huge fan now. Both performances were fantastic, lots of crowd interaction. Sugarland had to delay their performance due to a medical emergency in the crowd so concert went late but no one seemed to care. The only negative comment is the shuttle service back to Angels Camp (where we were staying) was delayed about an hour. I know this was only the second concert with this service so hopefully they will work out the kinks as it's a great service.
Unfortunately Sugarland didnt start playing until after 9pm. We drove a long way to see the show and had to leave after a couple of songs because we had to drive home. Their was a very long gap between Thompson square and Sugarland. We did however enjoy Thompson square.
The venue was nice but if I knew I was paying 250 dollars for tiny plastic chairs tied together with zip ties I would of stuck to the lawn area that wasn’t the worst part opening act was very good but when they were done we were waiting over one hour for Sugarland to come out they gave no reason the crowd started getting upset so we left so my 31st anniversary gift to my wife was ruined at least the corn dog was good.
Awesome Show. Jennifer Nettles has an amazing voice
I love sugarland and they did not let me down! Opening act was Thompson square even though they could be the head liner. Then an emergency happened so sugarland was delayed. They still played their whole set plus some! Definitely going again if they come back
Opening act Thompson Square was awesome - engaged with audience and full of energy. Sugarland sounded perfect and was just pure pleasure to watch.
Jennifer Nettles voice is amazing. Her expressiveness in song is extraordinary. The duo and their supporting musicians put on a show that is not just musicians playing and singing but wonderful to hear and see.
First time at GSR to check out a show and decided on Sugarland. The show started on time and the venue was just the right size so that there were no bad seats in the house. Jennifer and Kristian put on a fantastic show that was entertaining the whole way through.
I was very very disappointed in the fact that you did not have the side screens on so everyone could enjoy the concert.. I probably wont go to another concert there... it wasn't right and it ruined the whole night for us...all of the other concerts ive been to had the screens going... thats why I have told everyone to go to GSR because it was like everyone had a good seat...
Needed to adjust vocals, couldn't hear all of the other sound sometimes. But other than that, it was great.
This concert only lasted 80 minutes! It took us 110 to drive there. This the shortest concert that I've ever attended. That said the concert was high energy and the band really connected with the audience. The other missing element was the total lack of swag for sale. I was counting on buying some merchandise. Is everything Amazon Prime these days?
terrible sound system for Sugarland at GSR, very disapointing!!!!
Sugarland is incredible. Best concert ever. I love concerts at Ilani because it’s small and more intimate. My only criticism is the same I’ve had before, I wish they wouldn’t let people storm the aisles to get up front. They crowd the people who have seats closer. It was monitored a little better for this concert but during the encore they allowed it and it was packed halfway down the aisle. Very frustrating.
