SUGAR RAY IN CONCERT:
Sugar Ray virtually dominated late-'90s airwaves with breezy, SoCal-filtered pop earworms like "Fly" and "Every Morning." Fifteen years later they're still going as strong as ever, hitting the road to headline the 2014 Under The Sun Tour with fellow '90s favorites Smashmouth and Blues Traveler. As far as frontmen go, they don't make 'em more charismatic than Mark McGrath â fans lucky enough to catch the band live on their last tour were floored by his energy and charisma, setting expectations sky high for their upcoming shows.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Sugar Ray formed in Newport Beach in 1986, initially playing the unique brand of funk metal heard on their 1995 debut LP Lemonade and Brownies. While the album garnered them attention in alternative circles, it wasn't until they adopted a poppier sound for 1997's Floored that they really cracked things wide open, topping charts in the US and Canada with the ubiquitous decade smash "Fly." 1999 follow-up album 14:49 was an even bigger success, going triple platinum with infectious singles like "Every Morning" and "Someday." Throughout the '00s, the band continued to find success, releasing three albums and touring extensively. In 2014, they hit the road for the Under the Sun Tour, joining bands like Smashmouth and Uncle Kracker for a seriously satisfying dose of '90s nostalgia.
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:
"... Sugar Ray by far made the show! Upbeat, got the crowd moving! Seemed like he was having a blast singing!"
"... they seriously kicked ass on stage! The whole concert was just purely entertaining and listening to their '90s hits was awesome!"
"The venue was intimate and Sugar Ray made us want to dance all night. Mark McGrath is an awesome performer and interacts well with the audience. The new music was terrific and fresh and the oldies still sound great."

Sugar Ray surprisinginly was a Fabulous, energetic, and funny entertainer! The music sounded just like I was hearing it on radio! Band was great and Cactus Pete's amphitheatre was cozy enough to enjoy! Weather in Jackpot was Perfect!
Sugar Ray was probably the best concert ive been to. I loved how humble and honest they were and just great down to earth people. Mark McGrath was awesome and supwr sweet i told him after the show my birthday was just a few days away and he gave me a huge birthday hug and took a picture with me. He was the sweetest thing and he totally made my birthday so special. Ps Mark is still a hottie. Best show ever!
The band (Sugar Ray) were great. Very Humorous, great personalities, fun show.
Just a fantastic and fun concert. Literally between every song there was some interaction with the crowd and Mark McGrath is just a cool dude that has fun and enjoys interacting with people. An all around fun experience. The band had a great energy to them.
This was by far one of the best shows i have ever attended. the venue was so intimate it was like seeing a top bill performer in a local bar.The band was fantastic and Mark was engaged with the audience throughout the performance, they played every hit you would want to hear and the humble performers were awesome.
I have seen Sugar Ray many times. I love their music and Mark McGrath has so much energyđ Always a great show and ALWAYS leave with a smile on my face. I love this venue! Great showroom.
Horrible show music playing prior was slot better not worth my money spent ..boooo
warm up DJ was good, Sugar Ray was great! Harrahs, not so much! how can you have a beach party and not get in the water?! It was so hot and they wouldn't even let us put our feet in the water! It was ridiculous! very disappointed and will not return to Harrahs!
They engage the crowd and try to get you involved. Played old tunes and did a few covers for the Ramones Had a great time
Sugar Ray was incredible. I've seen them before in Vegas when they toured w/ Matchbox 20 and they are one of those bands that sounds just as good if not better in person. Mark was amazing as were Rodney, Kristian & Dean. Their rendition of the Violent Femmes "Blister in the Sun" brought the place down. They played classics like "Someday", "Every Morning", and closed with "Fly". They also performed "Unbelievable" originally by EMF...Mark said that it was Kristian's bday & he is actually the one who wrote "Unbelievable" but I didn't verify that. Still, it was amazing. Even though it was hotter than hell in Laughlin, and everyone was sweating like farm animals, it was so beyond worth it to see them. Honestly would have paid 5x the ticket price for that show. We got there 30 minutes before early entry time and were still just 2 of 5 people in the VIP section at the front, which was about 6-8 feet from the stage. I've never gotten to be so close. Crowds didn't start coming until about 30-45 minutes before show time. Mark still has the same charisma and incredible attitude towards the fans. It was a bummer that they didn't do an encore and just beat feet right after "Fly", but I get it. 10 out of 10 would go see again...maybe just not in August...on a beach in Laughlin...where it's 110 degrees at 8pm...but still, totally worth it.
Love Sugar Ray. Love Mark McGrath. But this concert was subpar. The sound was terrible. There was a DJ playing before the band came on that sounded great. But once the band came on, it was a completely different sound set up. Or at least it sounded like that. The mix was off and it sounded like your high school buddyâs backyard band. Sad, because the songs are great and the stories Mark told were interesting. Wish it was better.
We had a blast, I never leave reviews but this one is well deserved. We went thinking if they suck we will just leave and before we knew it sadly the concert was over. The venue, the band, Mark was hilarious he is such an amazing performer his personality is what won me over. I would go to see Sugar Ray again in a heart beat! Well worth it to see this band at least once in a lifetime ...I just wanna fly!!! (Back to another Sugar Ray concert!!)
Sound quality was poor. Performance was worse - Sugar Ray was terrible.
I loved the vibes, the energy from the band and Mark was very entertaining. I had a great time the stories he shared to set up the next song where a nice glimpse into Sugar Ray. I hate that I waited so long to see them but I definitely grateful that I finally had the means and opportunity to enjoy them live.
Because this venue is rather small, it was like having my own jam session with them! Especially when Mark McGrath came right up to us in the audience...back row no less! They really made everyone feel like old friends. All their songs were very entertaining as well as their the stories & joking around in between. Yes I recommend!
The venue is great and always has plenty of servers. Sugar Ray was highly energetic and very outgoing and just soo awesome to watch.. He killed it!! I will never miss another Sugar Ray show ever.
Had a great time! The venue is small, so there is more interaction with the band.
Love Sugar Ray and have been to many of his concerts but was disappointed this time because of the sound quality in this venue. The music was too loud for a small venue and sounded distorted and vibrating and screechy.
Sugar Ray appeared at the Flamingo Hotel as part of their Go-Pool concert series. The beer was cold, the attendants and security were very friendly, and the pool was a welcome site on a day where it hit 116 degrees. The sound system could have been a little better as it didn't do Mark Mcgrath justice, but the concert was definitely worth the price of admission. We are looking forward to more of the concerts at the Go-Pool this summer. It is so nice listening to good music, drinking a beer in the middle of the pool, on a beautiful, Vegas night,
