About

Commemorating 40 years of recording and releasing music, Stryper continues to churn out rock-solid albums and pulsating live performances. The hardworking group shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

Following on the heels of their successful studio project The Final Battle (Frontiers Music Srl), the definitive foursome released their first-ever acoustic album Acousticyzed on February 16, 2024. The double-disc set features an audio CD and DVD/Blu-ray video recorded and filmed at SpiritHouse Studios in western Massachusetts.

The 11-track acoustic collection features stripped-down versions of Stryper's classic songs - ranging from energized tracks "Loud & Clear" and "Soldiers Under Command" to power ballad "Honestly" - plus a never-before-released version of enduring hymn "Amazing Grace." The video unveils an up-close look at band members performing the album live in the studio.

For a limited time this spring, "To Hell with the Amps: The Unplugged Tour" will feature Stryper playing the entirety of the acoustic project during each performance.

"We're excited to show people a totally different translation of these songs," says lead vocalist, guitarist and primary songwriter Michael Sweet. "Most of the acoustic shows will be set in smaller, more intimate venues, and the set is naturally more toned down. It will feel like a family affair, like everyone is sitting in our living room listening to us play."

Sweet adds that the band will follow the acoustic stints with a full-on 40th anniversary tour kicking off September 13, 2024.

"The anniversary tour will feature songs ranging across our entire discography," he reveals. "We'll perform a set consisting of our classic songs, then play a second set containing more recent material."

Sweet further shares that the band's live shows will feature everything from heightened production to variations in wardrobe.

"We will be changing outfits from a classic look to a modern look, with production to match," Sweet says. "It will definitely be unprecedented because it's important to come up with a unique way for fans to celebrate this milestone anniversary with us."

In addition, the band plans to offer an exclusive pre-show VIP experience for its loyal devotees. A 45-minute encounter with Stryper will include a private screening of a short film featuring archival footage and photos and a brief Q&A session with the bandmates.

As for future endeavors, the band just wrapped recording another full-length studio album Sweet describes as "all killer and no filler." The anticipated release date is fall 2024.

"We're hoping it will continue the trend of our music getting better with each release," Sweet says. "It's loaded with high-quality tunes and great energy."

Stryper also has made solid progress on a much-anticipated Kickstarter-fueled documentary film. More than 1,700 backers helped the band far exceed its original funding goal, earning a "Projects We Love" tag on the popular crowdfunding platform.

"We found a brilliant director, Chris Atkins, and it's being filmed now," says Sweet, adding that footage will be captured throughout the rest of this year.  "We're excited to see it's finally happening."

When it comes to groundbreaking bands in the Christian hard-rock genre, Stryper is renowned for its distinctive brand of "heavenly metal," extraordinary crossover success and venerable endurance. The group ascended to prominence in the 1980s with Billboard Top 40 hits like "Calling on You," "Honestly" and "Always There for You."

Stryper's career album sales exceed 10 million worldwide, including 1986's multiplatinum release To Hell with the Devil. The band also made history when it notched two songs simultaneously in MTV's Top 10 with videos "Free" and "Honestly."

Today, some 40 years after emerging from the southern California nightclub scene, the foursome continues to record, tour and perform for devoted fans around the globe. Comprising three original members including brothers Michael Sweet, Robert Sweet (drums) and Oz Fox (guitar) plus longtime bandmate and veteran bassist Perry Richardson, the group finds itself continuing to create their finest, most powerful music yet.

    Stryper ROCKED!

by Vickie777 on 6/13/23Cannery Hotel and Casino - Las Vegas

Meet and greet was rushed. Quiet Riot was O. K. Stryper nailed it as usual. I bought front row tickets and was very disappointed. Paid just under $250 each (2) I will never get front row again at this Venue. People from all over swarmed to the front rail and crowded us.

    Most spectacular performance

by JND75 on 6/13/23Cannery Hotel and Casino - Las Vegas

Since song one, it was amazing how these musicians hit note by note to each song to perfection. I cannot believe things continued to come about and took this long to see Stryper but overall was 100% worth it.

Stryper and Quiet Riot at the Cannery Las Vegas

by Cackle on 6/13/23Cannery Hotel and Casino - Las Vegas

Great show by two pro bands. Stryper is vastly under rated and they are ALWAYS tight, heavy & deliver the goods. QR was excellent tonight also! The Club at the Cannery is a great venue, and the sound was spot on! It was a KILLER show!!!

Stryper Great! But Quiet Riot? Really?

by Stickman on 6/13/23Cannery Hotel and Casino - Las Vegas

I know Quiet Riot has lots of fans and I don't begrudge any of them, but to couple Stryper with them was just dumb. Truly a water and oil mix. Metal is metal and I get that, but these to bands are worlds apart. Stryper was great. They are top notch musicians and Michael Sweet still belts out the tunes. I was really impressed with the drummer as well. The musicians of Quiet Riot were also great. But the lead singer... that was a bit painful. Sorry I don't mean to be negative, I know he was trying but he needs to bring it down a bit and sing not scream. The venue was okay. I've been there before and it's very smallish but still good sound and location. Not a big fan of the metal folding chairs tho. :-/. Also they didn't turn on the coolers or fans and it was HOT and a bit stinky if you know what I mean. Even the band mentioned the smell. They need to do better because I do like the venue, but man, turn on the coolers!

    These guys rocked it!

    by J&T AZ on 6/11/23Rialto Theatre-Tucson - Tucson

Besides taking us back to the glory of the hair band days, these guys rocked the entire set with new and old songs. Their new stuff seems heavier and harder and our love of Stryper has been reignited. Can’t wait to see them again. God bless Stryper - keep praising His name!

    Fantastic show

by Seven on 6/7/23House of Blues San Diego - San Diego

Great concert from the opening intro to the final goodbye and Bible giveaway. Saw Stryper in 1985 and they still have the same energy as they did 39 years ago. Sound was on spot and the venue (House of Blues) provided a great intimate concert experience. Cant wait for them to come back to San Diego for their 40th year tour.

    Stryper Wows the Crowd!

by EveyJoy on 6/7/23House of Blues San Diego - San Diego

First I want to say Thank-You to the wonderful staff at San Diego House of Blues for being so kind, efficient and professional. I was at the Meet and Greet and all of Stryper's staff were as equally kind and efficient. Everything ran so smoothly. The guys in the band were absolutely outstanding! Michael Sweet is a fantastic frontman and singer. He got the crowd going right away with the "Sing Along Song." The rest of the group Oz Fox, (guitar) Perry Richardson (Bass)and Robert Sweet (Drums) are excellent musicians. Their soundman did a great job too! I want to say a special Thank-You to Lisa Champagne Sweet and Elena Sweet for being so kind and helpful to my daughter and I. You are awesome! All in all it was a great experience. Thanks to everyone for making a night to remember! Love You and God Bless You Always!

    Compelling and unforgettable

by Chris on 6/7/23House of Blues San Diego - San Diego

I’m glad they played a lot of their new stuff as i discovered newer music of theirs. I always just listened to their older stuff. It was cool to see them play both old and new, because their style has always been unique regardless. They were amazing, loud, and energetic. Cool and down to earth guys. VIP experience was also cool! Super nice guys.

    Stryper Rocked!

by GregL on 6/7/23House of Blues San Diego - San Diego

These guys were so good. Their sound was awesome and its great to see them rocking out! The crowd was easy going and very nice. I'm a metal head at heart and this type of music is right up my alley so my opinion might be skewed but such a great show. Michael's voice was on par and brother Robert was awesome to watch. I love the way they had the drum kit set perpendicular to the audience so you could watch the rhythm in action. Would go 10 times again.
