About

Syracuse hip-hop artist Stove God Cooks is known for combining a smooth, old-school '90s sound with intense, concisely-delivered lyrics. With a style reminiscent of MCs like Westside Gunn and Benny the Butcher, the Griselda Records star made waves in 2021 with his sophomore album If These Kitchen Walls Could Talk, which was available exclusively on Cooks' website and is now unavailable. The album earned acclaim for its polished and easy-going production by Roc Marciano, as well as a previously-unheard Earl Sweatshirt verse.

Busting on the scene for the first time in 2016 with a pair of singles that are no longer officially available, Stove God Cooks has always struck a balance between being a cult figure in the underground New York hip-hop scene and an enigma lurking in the shadows. As perhaps the largest star to represent Syracuse in decades, Cooks caught his first break on the Sway's Universe radio show with an impressive freestyle under the name Aaron Cook$ that caught the eyes and ears of industry kingmakers.

Fortune and fame presented itself to Cooks when he linked up with Marciano, who produced his debut project Reasonable Drought, a 13-track featureless album released in 2020. Cooks kept up the momentum and became a prominent figure on other Griselda projects, including studio releases from Westside Gunn like 10 and Hitler Wears Hermes 8.

While Stove God Cooks rarely tours--his last full outing was in 2021--he performed a handful of concerts in 2023, and often appears at major festivals like Rolling Loud.
