Story of the Year was outstanding!

    by Twinkied6 on 4/4/10The Rock - Tucson

Small venue made for a great experience. The boring people in the cage could have used some caffine.....;0). Performers gave thier all - in all3 bands. Story of the Year was outstanding - and despite their world travels and following, somehow managed to be humble and personable with their fans. A great time!

Saosin and Story of the year were intense

by MyKulPassKwa on 3/3/10Cubby Bear - Chicago

The only reason I give this a four is because I missed the opening band, but from seeing Saosin and Story of the Year I have to say it was one of the most memorable concerts of my life. Cove Reber and Alex Rodriguez were on point as usual and Chris Beau and Justin brought a lot of energy to the stage and played even better. I got a chance to meet Cove after the show and he is by far one of the most interesting people I ever met. He speaks with excitement and enthusiasm regardless of the fact that he was sick. He has a lot of potential and if I had the opportunity to meet the other guys I'm sure I would say the same of them. Story of the Year was great. You can tell they were excited to be there, they love what they do and it shows. Their one guitarist I was very impressed by. He was the one on stage helping to get the set ready which I thought was really cool cause a lot of bands dont get involved(Chris Sorenson also helped unload Saosins gear which i thought was equally cool). They played a great set, a lot of older songs even though their new CD just came out. The lead singer is just as good on stage as he is on the albums which is awesome. Great crowd interaction and motivators. The rest of the guys played great. Their drummer had an electronic drum that hit a bass so hard you could feel it through your whole body, it was INTENSE. By the time Story of the Year was halfway through their set I was so exhausted I had to calm down. Sweat was pouring down to the bottom of my shirt.

Great show with lots of excitement and energy. The band made it feel like a true small crowd venue show.

Story Of The Year was awesome, Cubby Bear was NOT

    by hunter5150 on 3/2/10Cubby Bear - Chicago

Im not going to hold the lack of security and too many people being over served against Story of the Year since the Cubby Bear does that on a regular basis. CB is the WORST place to stage national acts since its patrons can barely hold it together during local acts. Plus since its the North Side there is NO parking. Next time use the House Of Blues or another REAL venue! As for the show, AM Taxi opened and were full of screamo - energy. Their songs were fast and catchy and not entirely forgettable. Saosin was next and although the singer did not look like he wanted to be there, they put on a good show. The bass player even called out one rowdy fan for being an ***hole and of course no security showed up. Finally, Story hit the little stage like they were playing an arena. This band has show much energy as they all jump and run around the entire set. It shows on their faces and in their performances that they were having a blast and truly love what they do. This allows a crowd to really get into the set (Saosin singer take note!). These guys have transcended the genre they started in (screamo) to write fast paced rock songs with a punk edge. They should have more 'hits' and have a bigger following so next time thru Chicago, hopefully more people will check them out......just NOT at the Cubby Bear!

Story of the Year = Epic

by Anonymous on 3/1/10Cubby Bear - Chicago

Story of the Year is the most electrifying band I have ever seen live. I've seen over 250 bands live and no ones live performance lives up to this. That is all that needs to be said.

AM Taxi Was The Real Story

by Grievous on 3/1/10Cubby Bear - Chicago

AM Taxi, led by Adam Krier, stole the show on Friday, February 26th at the Cubby Bear. The Q101 benefit was off to an amazing start. Their vocal harmonies and sick instrumentals got everyone's attention as the opening act. The newer band, from Chicago, just booked a spot on Warped Tour 2010 and are really making a name for themselves on the scene in small venues across the country. Their new album is set to release early June. Story of the Year lacked depth but was fun to rock out to. Anyone who got their early, though, got a pleasant surprise. AM Taxi was, by far, the act to see.

Story of the Year @ Cubby Bear

by decemberjy on 3/1/10Cubby Bear - Chicago

Didn't watch AM Taxi, there was a hockey game on. Saosin was ok, I was a little disappointed. Not very much energy or crowd interaction. No emotion on the singer's face. Couldn't hear him too well. The only saving grace was their final song "You're Not Alone." Saved the show. Story of the Year was absolutely amazing. This was my first time seeing them live and they were everything I expected and even more. I will be going to every show they put on here in Chicago or Milwaukee from now on. They played a great mix of songs from every album (probably only like 2-3 from "In The Wake of Determination"). Great show.

AM Taxi was a good opener, Saosin was thrilling after that, and Story of the Year rocked the Cubby Bear. One electric show at an amazing venue. I love small events where everyone is close to the stage!

Awesome Bands at a very small venue.

by ckdawg on 3/1/10Cubby Bear - Chicago

All three bands were memorable. SOTY was as good as the last time I had seen them. Can't wait to see them again. Hopefully Cubby Bear gets some more good bands to play there.

Story of the Year and Saosin

by MattieG on 3/1/10Cubby Bear - Chicago

Ok. So first of all Cove and Saosin put on an amazing set. The sound was pretty legit, the kick was nice and tight, bass was pretty clear, guitars sounded good, BUT lead vocals kept getting lost in the mix. It was really a shame. Story of the year put on a phenomenal set as well. The sound was pretty good. Kick was unbelievable, the 808 the drummer had was unreal in terms of low end, the bass was pretty good, guitars were nice and clear, but again with the vocals, i found them distorting when Dan hit some louder screams. Other than that it was a great show.

The show was awesome! It was the first time I went to The Cubby Bear and it definitely was worth it. Story of the Year blew my mind! It was my 3rd time seeing them in concert, and it wont be my last.

    SOTY...AMAZING

by ZekeKP on 10/4/09PENN STATE NEW KENSINGTON - New Kensington

Been looking to see SOTY for 4 years now, but couldn't find a show nearby. Ended up driving 3 hours to see this one. VERY SMALL SHOW. That sounds kinda lame but it ended up being really kickass. Dan jumped off the stage after the 3rd song and started hugging and high fiving ppl in the front row. Phil looked right at my girlfriend and tossed her a water bottle. The show was spectacular. Afterwards Dan stuck around to talk to the few dedicated enough to stick around. I had a hell of a lot of fun and I'm definitely gonna look into seeing them again.

    SOTY WAS AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by Deeroam7 on 7/20/09The Pageant - St Louis

The sound of screamin guitars and vocals rang out into the street for all to hear. If the music didn't thrill you, the antics on stage did. Ryan messing with the roadies by messing up the equipment to make them come out and fix it was funny as hell. These guys seem to really be friends and it shows in their performance on stage. I will see them every time!!!!!!!!!!!!! SO SHOULD EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Story of the Year is unbelievable!

by LaurenC22 on 7/16/09The Pageant - St Louis

Story of the Year is definitely a band you don't want to miss. Hometown Takeover is a great event. It helps people find out about local bands and helps spread the love of music. Story of the Year never fails at putting on an epic show. They have so much energy. It's obvious these men love what they do and love each other. It was possibly the best concert I have ever attended.

    Rocked

by PlayboyCandy on 7/16/09The Pageant - St Louis

I love Story of the Year. I see them just about every chance I get when they come to the city. I was in the front row for most the night enjoying myself, until my heel broke (lucky me) and my boyfriend and I moved to the side instead. The show was nothing less than amazing!

    SOTY

by mbarna on 7/16/09The Pageant - St Louis

This was an awesome concert! I loved hearing some of the smaller local bands too. Several of them were "surprisingly" good, and I'm not even much of a fan of too much metal-ish rock. SOTY had fun stage presence too, and seemed to be glad to be back in their hometown. It was fun to actually see people from 105.7!
