    Stone Roses are back!

by Sharkslayer on 7/4/16Madison Square Garden - New York

A number of years ago a friend in Glasgow introduced me to this band. They have a unique sound and after a few tracks I was sold. They got back together a couple years later and finally made it back to the garden. I think it's their first time back in over 20 years. Tickets were a bit pricey and I was debating selling them. I am so glad I didn't. That would have been a colossal mistake. They sounded straight off the album, maybe even better. I've been to a lot of shows, but this one is easily one of the best shows I've been to. They played every song I was hoping they'd play and then some. Reni lives up to his name. I'd say he's one of the greatest living drummers with his unbelievable control and timing keeping the rhythm going strong. These guys put on a phenomenal show. There was no BS with the crowd, 10 minute solos, distracting and unnecessary lighting, and leaving the stage for 5 minutes only to come back for an encore and dragging out the performance. They showed up, played the set all the way through, and ultimately killed it. I don't know if or when they'll play again in the US, but no matter where you are go see them if you can. For a group that's been separated for as long as they have and to sound that good... it's unreal. I could have never expected it to be that good. There's tough competition with all the amazing shows going on this year, but the Stone Roses are easily a top contender for best show of the year. Don't miss out on these guys!

Unbelievable performance, crowd was so into it. Sound, lighting were excellent. Vibe of a smaller scale, more intimate show but sold out MSG. Wish I were there right now!

    Legendary!

by Parte77 on 7/3/16Madison Square Garden - New York

The Stone Roses first full length concert and headlining concert in America was incredible! Years ago at their first appearance at Coachella some would beg to differ but The Stone Roses came prepared with an amazing set list and unbelievable stage presence! When they played "Made of Stone" and "She Bangs the Drums" live and then hearing everyone sing along was incredible! Ian Brown was awesome and John Squire could not have shredded any harder!!! Reni went nuts on drums and was a blast to see and Mani was so amazing as well! I have never witnessed a concert so intense, mesmerizing, and mind blowing! I defintely definitely hope they come back to America again!

Madison Square Garden 6/30/16 was best concert...

by TheOnlyJSL on 7/3/16Madison Square Garden - New York

Madison Square Garden 6/30/16 was best concert of their entire career, easily. Ian's vocals were SPOT-ON... I couldn't believe it. This band is better now than they were in 89-94. This band keeps getting tighter and Ian's vocals keep getting progressively more amazing.

Great show. One fewer song than Manchester show. A little gypped , but the band was magnificent. Reni and Mani , best rhythm section ever. Squire fantastic. Ian's voice spot on! Always wanted to see them. LOVED IT!!!

Only Chance to see Stone Roses in the USA

by GraniteCincy on 7/3/16Madison Square Garden - New York

Great crowd (lots of expats), MSG was a very nice venue, and the band sounded good! I loved the visuals and energy. We travelled from Cincinnati to see them and it was so worth it.

I thought the band were really enjoying themselves, but the sound, especially early in the show was terribly flat. The vocal mix was barely passable, but the guitar was lost. Later, the guitar was a bit more pronounced. Compared, the next night, to Paul Simon's final show out in Queens, where you could hear every instrument with crystal clarity, I thought the Stone Roses were just muted, despite their clearly enjoying performing for their adoring fans. Still, glad I got to see them.

3 virtuoso musicians and Ian Brown!

by Efrain2 on 7/3/16Madison Square Garden - New York

Of the 6 times I've seen The Roses plus the countless bootlegs, this was the best I've ever heard King Monkey sing! A lot of the time he actually sounded like recording studio Ian Brown! Amazing set, amazing performances, and the added touch of comedy with Ian scolding someone in the crowd with "calm down, you dick!" Wish I wouldn't have canceled my plans to go to Manchester so I could've seen them a couple more times.

    Stone Roses Past Their Prime?

by edouglasww on 7/3/16Madison Square Garden - New York

I had been looking forward to this concert for months because I've been a fan of the Roses even before their first album came out in 1989... I had missed their one previous NYC show at Webster Hall in 1995 and this was going to be a big event. Unfortunately it didn't seem like the band had bothered rehearsing (or rehearsing enough) to put on a great show. The first half hour was tedious as they barely could get through a song without a flub. Things picked up with "Begging You" and "Waterfall" and there were definite highlights but it didn't seem like John Squire wanted to be there and it was only when they played "I Am the Resurrection," their last song where it seemed they had any enthusiasm or energy, maybe because they knew their one North American show was over. When the band played their new song "All For One" it killed any momentum and it wasn't helped by whomever was handling the video because when Squires was playing a guitar solo they decided to show Ian Brown moving around awkwardly rather than showing Squire. I worry that The Stone Roses have already become like the Pixies a few years into their reunion where they stopped caring and just played gigs to collect a paycheck. There were some highlights but after seeing The Cure at MSG a few weeks earlier, it was obvious they have improved with age whereas The Stone Roses need to work harder to be relevant beyond their records.

    What a show!

Unbelievably great! They played fantastically well, Ian Brown was in great voice, and the enthusiastic crowd sang along with every song.

    The Stone Roses

by SabbeyRoad91 on 7/3/16Madison Square Garden - New York

I absolutely LOVED their performance. With that said, the Garden needs to work on their sound mix. At points John Squire's guitar and Ian Brown's vocals were way too low. Still very happy to have been there!

Stone Roses - go see them if you get the chance

by Englishman72 on 7/3/16Madison Square Garden - New York

Just to see this band together on one stage was an unforgettable experience, the soundtrack of my university years! John Squire making those guitar riffs look so effortless, Reni, 'the driver of the ship' as Ian said, with the best drumming I've ever seen. Mani, tapping out his steady bass rhythm, and Ian fronting the show. I was slightly nervous after reading some reviews concerning Ian's voice but it far exceeded what I expected, he just lost the timing on one song briefly but paused and soon recovered, and in tune throughout. I never thought I'd see this band live, given all that went on over the years but they more than lived up to it.

    The Roses are Still great!

by Neotone1 on 7/3/16Madison Square Garden - New York

I have wanted to see them since 1989, but never had the chance. So when I heard they were finally coming here after they reunited, I didn't hesitate to get tickets. They did not disappoint. They started with I Wanna Be Adored, and ended with I Am The Resurrection! Fool's Gold was in the middle somewhere, and it was freaking great! It was so great to see them, and they looked amazed and happy to be playing in NYC at Madison Square Garden. Welcome back guys! Come back soon!

    Stone Roses -MSG

by NJDosser on 7/3/16Madison Square Garden - New York

Outstanding - great to finally see them in the U.S. and they did not disappoint. Heavy focus on first album (think they played the whole thing). Hopefully they will come back to NYC some time soon.
