it was a good spectacle, a recomended if visiting fort worth
This is a great family atmosphere with a bang to your buck, literally!
Cowtown Coliseum was great, rodeo was complete and interesting from a tourist point of view. Entertainment for the whole family. Parking was a hassle, could improve that... If you want to go, make sure you arrive early to secure a good parking spot near the coliseum.
We have been going to the rodeo at the Fort Worth Stockyards for many years and taking the grandkids for at least the last five years. Some years have been better than others but this year was the worst. We came to see a rodeo for two hours but saw rodeo action for no more than 15 - 20 minutes of action. There were a few bull riding events, more calf roping, a few barrel racing events and that was it. There were NO bronc or saddle bronc events. The empty time was filled with dumb dance contest and bad jokes which we could not hear. There is no way they should call it a "Championship Rodeo". The only constant great event is the opening, even if you decide to attend, don't be late. Another problem was the purchase of tickets. The Stockyard ticket office stopped selling tickets two or three days ahead of time. When I called the ticket office the young lady said that they have been selling out, so I ordered tickets from Ticketmaster. That cost us an additional $50.00 and we discovered after that there were a lot of seats remaining. If you decide to attend a rodeo I would suggest the Mesquite rodeo. Thanks, RDC
The announcer was hard to understand, but otherwise it was a great performance.
This event was not very entertaining. This was the worst rodeo that I have been too. The contestants lacked talent to successfully complete each event and as a result the event was boring.
If you want to savour the delights of typical Texas, then a visit to the Stockyards Rodeo is a must for everyone.
My only complaint is when I purchased the tickets, I did not realize the SRO meant Standing Room Only, how dumb am I. But it all worked out...we wound up with great seats. Enjoyed the rodeo.
Worst rodeo I have ever been to. They could not rope, they could not ride. The history was cool, but they need to join the professionals
the rodeo was very enjoyable and the stockyards were awesome, great food, family oriented and fun for adults. however when we got to the coliseum, my tickets were unable to be found through ticket master for some reason! we had to re-purchase tickets. did not get good seats as planned but still enjoyed the event.
Got these tickets for my husband for Valentine's Day and we had a blast. We will definitely be going back for more.
It was pretty deceiving to see such a poor performance from the participants. The best part of the show were the children chasing a little cow, this is how exciting the whole show was.
event was awesome it was my first but will not be my last.I enjoyed the event for the children and especially the drillteams
This rodeo was very diverse in the different events held. It mixed a lot of different sports and kept it interesting. The thing this rodeo lacked was a strong sense of authenticity. Rap music played over the speakers, there wasn't much focus on the competitors themselves. If you're looking for general fun this is good for you. If you want more authentic, serious feeling competition, look elsewhere. Overall it was fun but not quite what I hoped.
My daughter and I loved the rodeo! We had a great time!
I'm form Germany and this was my first Rodeo ever. It was really impressing. Tough guys. Nice old building. A lot bars and restaurants around (but expensive ones). A little more horse riding and less 'calf catching' would be nice. The seats are very tight.
I had the pleasure of attending last Saturday's Championship Rodeo at the Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth and would recommend it for folks new to Rodeo! We were able to experience many different types of events (e.g., bull riding, calf roping, etc.) in an environment that was quite conducive to newbies such as myself. I loved when the children were able to participate as well - so families are easily accommodated! There really isn't a bad seat in the house - and the cost for a few hours of a new experience was well worth it.
My wife & I attended the Stockyards Rodeo with a friend from California. None of us had ever been to a rodeo. This one is so authentic and with great history. The patriotic start was really moving emotionally. The variety of events made it really fun to watch. My only complaint was that the box seating was REALLY cramped. We would definitely go again!
I was impressed by the quality of Bull riding. Very Good Stock. However there wasn't any bull doging or bucking horses, and there were too many roping events. The kids enjoyed chasing the calf and the sheep.
