Steven Wright is comedic perfection! He was brilliant. I couldn't stop laughing.
I have seen Steven Wright a few times at this venue. I enjoyed his act tremendously previously. The theater was good as usual. Steven did not seem to have one of his better nights. It seemed he was just going through the motions. He needs to lose the RedSox hat when he's on the road.
We had a fantastic time at the Hyannis Melody Tent on Saturday Night. Steven Wright is an amazingly talented comedian. We laughed from beginning to end.
Tony V. was very funny and a great opening act. He could easily be the headliner of his own CCMT show. Steven Wright was his usual hilarious self. Perfect night for the show and walk to and from our hotel. We have enjoyed all of the shows we have been to at the Melody Tent.
Although I had heard a lot of the material before, it was still very enjoyable. Steven Wright is a very funny guy and would absolutely see him again!
I showed up early at the Steven Wright show at the Vic Theatre in Chicago. I love general admission because it rewards people who show up early. I was able to sit first row and it was fantastic. For comedy shows, there is no better place than right up front. While I had heard some of the material before, much was new. I was able to meet Steven after the show on the side of the theater.
If you're a fan...ya gotta see him in person! Did a lot of his old material, but it still sounds fresh and had the audience in stitches the whole evening. Sad to see some people in the audience who apparently weren't getting it, but they were few and far between. A must see event.
2nd time I've seen Steven Wright at CCMT. Have been a fan of his humor for years, and he came through with a great show again despite the relatively small crowd. And Tony B the opening comedian was excellent himself. My only criticism is the same one I have for all events at CCMT--the break is ridiculously long, and the refreshments too expensive (but then I just don't buy any!)
Wright was terrible. 10 minutes of jokes bobbing in hours of vinegar. Bitter suicide 'jokes' witless and sad. Melody tent parking kept kept us locked in--we couldn't leave early. PASS on this. If you liked him in his prime, this will erase the good memories.
Steven Wright was his usual deadpan comedy. Noone else can make you laugh just with his words without cracking a smile. Just as memorable as the first time I saw him on television. Not only does he crack you up, but he really gets you thinking - that's why I love his comedy. The opening act was very funny as well - a great combination.
i was lucky enough to be in the front row. i even sat next to a guy i used to work with 20 years ago and hadn't seen since then ! i LOVED all the material, but in talking to others after the show, they told me that there wasn't much new material. that didn't matter much to me, as it had been 30+ yeras since I had seen a Steven Wright performance. i also hung out after the show and got a nice photograph and autograph and got to chat with steven a bit. turns out we're both from the same area in Massachusetts ! I would go see him again.
Steven Wright is a legend in the stand up comedy business and for good reason. This show was an amazing combination of his classics and new stuff, all delivered in his truly unique and hilarious style. Impossible not to enjoy every minute of a Steven Wright show.
Typical SW...some material is oldish (2006-2007 but still very f unny and like Sedaris, his delivery makes the material come alive.
We had balcony seats at the Fitzgerald to see Steven Wright. We laughed through the whole concert!
Some sets were solid but for the most part the show was full of one-liners that fell flat.
Steven Wright was very funny but it seemed like the audience was a little slow to pick up on his style of humor. Mr Wright needs to update his picture. I would recomend this show to all.
Steven Wright has a way of finding humor and irony in all things mundane and routine; of bringing a joke to light that would be obvious, if we stopped to think about it. He unselfconsciously embraces the bizzare, and occasionally the dark, in a way that makes us all feel comfortingly normal. I couldn't resist the urge to instantly text several of his one-liners to friends.
I was SO disappointed seeing Steven Wright for the second time in two years. I saw him in the fall of 2006 at the Fitzgerald Theater (same venue as this last performance) and couldn't wait to see him again when he returned in May of 2009. Well, he did the EXACT SAME SHOW as he had done in 2006. I was so pissed off. I couldn't believe that he would do the same show at the same venue considering he hasn't been back in between those times. I won't see him again because of this, and wish I could get my money back!
It was my first time ever seeing him on stage. I just wish he came over after the show and met with the fans. A photo with him would have made my night.
As always, Steven Wright was funny, insightful and completely crazy. I really appreciate that his humor has to be thought about for a few seconds for it to be funny, and the more you think, the funnier it gets. The song written as if he was a 3-year old is hilarious! The next time he is in town, I hope more people go see him.
