The show I paid for was exactly what happened. He was great! Few moments of silence, he kept up for 90 minutes. I laughed out loud.
I got to see Steven Write years ago. Just breaking in, he was so funny and, like most, marveled at his observational turn-of-phase & wit. After all these years, it's nice to know that he's still at the top of his game. Much of his performance and deadpan delivery is still there, thankfully. However, Wright's performance was even more layered. Still playful, but darker in some places. I also really liked his character playing the guitar. So funny, and skillfully incorporated.
Great show, great comedian; Steven Wright has still got it. Oh, great seats too, that always helps.
Steven Wright has a unique perspective on the universe and a unique delivery and it was great. Thanks, J
Steven keeps his style that made him popular over 30 years ago, A very long set - about an hour and 40 minutes. A decent venue.
Privileged to have finally seen a Stephen Wright show in person.
I haven’t seen Steven Wright in decades, so I was intrigued when he showed up to perform at a local casino. My experience is that most comedians update and hone their act over time. But no, not Steven Wright. He’s still telling all the same jokes today that he told 30 years ago. He even leaves in the old jokes about his visit to a video rental store. No noticeably new material, absolutely no audience interaction, and nothing spontaneous. Seriously, save your ticket money and watch the YouTube video of his first Tonight Show appearance in 1982, because he uses all the exact same jokes in his 21st century show.
I laughed so much I almost collapsed a lung! My checks hurt. I pulled a rib muscle. Good thing he had to drink some water occasionally, so we could catch our breath. Brilliant performance. Like unto no other I have ever seen on TV or on stage. I will be seeing his shoes every time they come to town!
Stephen Wright continues to make us laugh with his deadpan observations and situational bastardizations. The show is mostly trying to follow his recollections of his acid trip of a life experiences, but it's sprinkled nicely with thoughtful gems like "porch chimes are for stupid people so they can know the wind is blowing, too". That's the stuff that will keep us coming back. Crowded venue at Charles Town, WV Hollywood Casino; the chairs are too damn close together to be comfortable. And with the money flowing in that place, you'd think they'd have cup holders for your drink. Also, not very friendly for handicapped; had to check the wheelchair at the door. I'll leave the rest to your imagination. Oy!
Great show by Stephen as always - have seen him 6 times over 30 years!!!
Steven Wright is the best! The show rolled right along and was entertaining the whole time. His sense of humor is unlike any other. Would definitely see him again!
Horrible venue, too cramped, started 40 min late, and the guy wasn’t funny. Not worth the time or money. Won’t go back to that venue.
We love Steven Wright but we missed most of his show because we couldn't hear him! We were in the third row but everyone around us, not just us, kept asking each other, "What did he say?" Very disappointing. "
Steven Wright's humor is still as offbeat as ever. The most impressive thing is he leaves out the political humor that seems to be so prevalent today. A great escape from the 24x7 drumbeat of the current drama
fulfilled all expectations...although voice sometimes hard to hear...he maintained the large audience in a high laughter state for almost one and one/half hours - continuous humor in his unmatchable style!
Saw Wright last year at PAC so going again was a no-brainer. From the moment he came onstage it was constant laughter. My throat and belly hurt from roaring with laughter. Wright is such a thought-provoking comic and can fire off one- liners with the best of them. Can't wait until he returns to Englewood.
good performance. guy's brilliant, but show was marred by poor sound throughout the theater that made it hard to hear his routine.
Sound quality was poor and comedian mumbled, so I missed many of his jokes.
Steven Wright’s humor is not for everyone! The first three minutes in, I knew I was in trouble - he was difficult to understand and the jokes were not funny. I was jealous of the people who left in the middle of the show. It was good for a nap after a long day - ugh!
