Amazing and phenomenal show! I am so glad we got to experience it.
Wonderful group of performers. Great little history lesson about step dance and it's African roots. Lots of audience participation... If you want to.
This was captivating from the start, but the colorful traditional African segment in the middle was the best! The only slight criticism is that it can get a bit repetitive with many of the same moves seen over and over, which is not to say that the talent isn’t unbelievable.
Ever since I watched a group of high school kids perform step about 7 years ago, I realized how important this kind of group activity could be. I was so energized by these performers!! Wish it were easier to get local step groups to perform at smaller school districts.
I really loved the show. The audience participation part was the best. Got the kids up on stage. Taught them a basic routine. Let them be in a Zulu village. The dancers were super energetic to the very end. Wow! double Wow!!
It was soooo good! Sooooo much fun!!! I will definitely go back!!!!
This show was extremely enjoyable, full of positive energy, great choreography, fun and funny, and also informative on the origins and meaning of “stepping”. Highly recommend!
I have seen Step Afrika severeal times. Each time I am fasinated by the precision, atheleticism, and body rhythms of this dance troop. They keep getting better at telling the story of Black excellents. Plus it is highly interactive with audiences of all ages. Truly a joy to witness, participate, and expeerience!
OK , but too much time spent on audience participation and not enough dance variety.
My husband surprised me for my birthday to this show. We were both pleasantly surprised by how great the show was. It was funny, entertaining, engaging. The production was put together beautifully.
It was a great show. Perhaps when the public is more used to this genre of dancing, then there will be no need for the narrators. This detracted from the overall performance and whilst necessary it should be avoided for the future. All in all, a very good evening that was very enjoyable.
This show was everything I expected it to be and more! I loved every moment! Very engaging and interactive.
Great show! High energy and fun entertainment. Thoroughly enjoyable experience!!!
It was an excellent show. Not a dull moment, it was energetic and educational. So glad I had a chance to see it.
I took my adult daughter to Step Afrika as part of her Christmas gift and we thoroughly enjoyed the step routines. The enthusiasm of all the dancers, the announcers made it fun to participate with the. And the story telling was great! I learned something new which is always a benefit. I encourage everyone to attend if they have an opportunity and bring your small children as well.
I thought the program was going to be about African Dancing but the focus on STEP was interesting and very well performed. A learning experience for sure.
Terrific gymnastics, terrific music, beautiful bodies, terrific energy, important story, free parking, nice theater
Before the intermission there were a lot of dancers running around and a lot of drums but not much drama. Too much, too soon. I saw talent and wished it were showcased better. Then, after the intermission, it was as if they read my notes. There was historic context of an 1839 rebellion and 1840 soul-busting, oppressive law, and the dancers were highlighted in solos and small groups, with more intricate rhythms and more ambitious choreography. So, glad I stayed. It's a wonderful company with an important message and I wish them well.
The show was AWESOME. Taylor McFerrin was outstannding.
Impressive! My 7 year old enjoyed the performance too while I appreciated another history lesson not taught in school. I would recommend it to everyone! The venue was very comfortable and affordable so I could bring my granddaughter. I wish they would bring more popular events that are at the Pantages here!
