About

Six women come together in this hilarious and heartwarming story of life, love and loss in Louisiana's Chinquapin County. At the center of the group is Shelby Eatenton, newly married and joyfully pregnant even in the face of her diabetes. Her mother, M'Lynn Eatenton, looks to her four closest friends for strength and laughter as she battles her deepest fears in order to join Shelby in celebrating the miracle of a new life. The action is set in Truvy's beauty salon, where all the ladies who are "anybody" come to have their hair done.

    Steel Magnolias was very funny!

by SQDALLAS on 3/9/15Casa Manana - Fort Worth

The writing was clever and hardly got as serious or sad as the movie. A thoroughly delightful evening. I attend mostly Musicals more than 10 times per year in Dallas. This play would appeal to women of most ages and Musical Theater lovers, although it is not a musical.

The cast was wonderful -keeping us enthralled and laughing the whole time. Of course, we love Ruta Lee and she did an over the top job! Everyone else was fabulous too! I felt like they played their parts incredibly well and the adaptation from the movie was excellent. Thank you for an enchanting night out!

    A fun evening

by Jodru on 3/9/15Casa Manana - Fort Worth

"Steel Magnolias" was a roller coaster ride of emotions. Funny, great southern characters, and handling some difficult topics. Mary Stout as Ouiser and Ruta Lee as Clairee were the standouts. Though these two characters snip and take shots at each other, Stout and Lee showed the true friendship between them through subtle, visual Interactions.

    A heart warming production.

by passthru on 3/9/15Casa Manana - Fort Worth

The dialog stayed pretty much with the movie and that made it better for me. I'm not real big on writers using "artistic license" to drastically change things. The cast did well overall although the ladies that played Annel and Shelby did not always convey the intensity and emotion of some of the moments. I was curious how the scene and story would work out with no male characters but the "phone" conversations with Drum and the boys worked it out fairly nicely. Even when lines were stumbled over by the character of Ouiser the cast did very well in covering and moving forward with the scene. Overall it was a very nice theater rendition of a movie favorite of ours. This was only my second attendance of a theater production so I'm no expert. I thoroughly enjoyed the show and plan to attend others in the future.

    Steel Magnolias

by CowtownGuy on 3/7/15Casa Manana - Fort Worth

Ruta Lee and company were simply outstanding. The lines were hilarious, delivered with a zing and it was obvious that the girls on stage were having fun. Each woman seemed suited for the role they played. The costuming was spot on, and it was one of the 'Don't Miss This' performances that I was glad I was present.

Was way beyond by expectations. Followed the movie very well. Touched on all of the most humerous and sad parts excellently.

    Steel Magnolia was absolutely fantastic.

by pnb1955 on 3/4/15Casa Manana - Fort Worth

I was worried how they would do the cemetary scene but it was superb. They kept it uplifting due to not having the death scene. I would go again. The actors played their part beautifully.

    Steel Magnolias is fabulous.

by ryanexpress on 3/4/15Casa Manana - Fort Worth

Steel Magnolias is a classic. It is funny, sometimes hysterical, and very sad. I saw many people outright bawling. All the actresses were very good, especially Ruta Lee. She is the reason I went to the play in the first place. I wish she could/would come to Fort Worth every year to do a play. I would/will go see her in anything she does.

Steel Magnolias is so wonderfully written!

by grandbysquilts on 2/20/11Little Carver Theatre - San Antonio

Truvy (Danielle King) and Miss Clairee (Casandra) were magnificent and so believable! I felt I was in Chinquipin again. The rest of the cast did a good job and the ensemble made another Steel production so funny and sad and exciting, all rolled into one. Go see it before it closes!

    AWESOME!!!!

by Mustang1990 on 9/7/108 Seconds Saloon - Indianapolis

Steel Magnolias was AWESOME!!!! We sat in the front row & got to touch both Meghan & Josh's hands!!!! They are the best duo to come along in years!!!! Had some dumb little girls sitting behind us talking personal issues through most of the concert, so had to tune them out, they was so annoying!!! Why would you pay $25 a piece to sit & talk during the entire concert is beyond me?? But other than that it was awesome :)

What a great concert these guys put on. From rocking out to several accoustic songs this group can go no where but up. A great mixture of their own songs and a few old classics made this one of the best shows I have ever seen live.
