    Outstanding skating program

by Kitt on 12/19/23AMSOIL Arena - Duluth

The arena was so empty it's a wonder SOI will ever come back to the US. I wonder how the Canadian rinks are holding up, I hope they are more full. It was an embarrassment, I felt bad for the skaters, however it was a noisy and appreciative crowd, so that was good. The skaters were completely on board and enthusiastic, happy to be there. Just think of the time and money to develop their skills, and then there being not much of a market for it. Anyway, Elvis S opened up with some tricky footwork. At 50 plus, he was impressive, hit a couple triples too. There was an opening group number, choreographed by Kaitlin Weaver, and good for her in expanding her career. The skaters had turtle necks and short skirts for the gals and looked adorable, except for Satoko dressed as a nutcracker princess. Jason wasn't in the opening or closing numbers, since he isn't in the Canadian tour. He had two numbers which were very impressive, nothing new there, skating skills and extensions just perfect. The crowd was happy to see him. As far as the two pair teams, Alexa/Brandon were the standout of course, being world champions. We were in the first row so could observe a lot. Brandon is so careful in placing Alexa, he is totally focused. And their triple-twist is pretty high. Keegan Messing has the deepest edges known to man. His spread-eagle almost filled the whole rink! And the speed is amazing. Kaitlin did some interesting choreography for various groupings. For instance, she paired Jason with Alexa/Brandon for some lovely shapes. She also did a number with Elladj Balde, part of which led to another number. She is creative, and of course her numbers with her gorgeous partner Andrew Poje were just as good as when they were competing. Ice dancers don't fall! Their lifts were gorgeous. Mariah Bell was adorable and her jumps are still good. All in all, a very impressive and fun program.

    Stars on Ice Frisco

by Shelley on 12/29/21Comerica Center - Frisco

This show was fantastic. Watching elite skaters on the ice in person is very different from watching on the television. I felt as if there was no other place these skaters would rather be than performing this show at this particular time and place. It was a great way to really get into the holiday spirit. I have only the highest praise to give for the costumes, choreography and of course phenomenal talent of the cast. When Kurt began skating my niece whispered in my ear, " He has not changed at all" and that was very true. What a treat to see all of our great champions and Olympic champion Ilya Kulik. Thank You!

    where's the crowd?

by sue on 12/23/21Comerica Center - Frisco

good venue, great show.....but, embarrassingly UNATTENDED! NO PUBLICITY.....as is the case with anything to do with figure skating in the Dallas area! MUST GET THE WORD OUT so future events are properly attended! I don't know whether to blame the city, Ticketmaster or Stars On Ice for the glaring error.

    Commercial break?

by KO on 12/22/21AMSOIL Arena - Duluth

The show was beautiful and the performers were amazing. Simple and graceful. We did not care for the 15 or 20 minute adoption advertising during the middle of the performance. It totally took away from the specialness of the show. While we believe it was an important message, the timing of it was poor. It should have been at the very beginning or at the very end, in my opinion.

    Awful

by Disappointed on 12/22/21AMSOIL Arena - Duluth

The skaters were not very good. They might have been professionals but they did not seem to put any effort into their performance. My wife is a retired professional figure skater and she was so disappointed. Then not only was the performance bad, then a person came onto the ice and asked for donations for children for over 20 minutes, then after that there was another intermission. So a least a third of the time there was no performance. If people do no want to give their best for a performance, they should not be in the entertainment industry.
