First event of the season at the Fisher

by Aaron on 10/5/21Fisher Theatre - Detroit

This was the first live event at the Fisher Theater in Detroit since the outbreak of COVID. Masks were mandatory in the lobby and the seating areas. Most people complied. Unfortunately, with no air conditioning, it got hot inside rather quickly. The theater was a sell out - 1500 seats. As for the artists, they seemed genuinely happy to be performing again. In fact, they payed their hearts out. Stanley Clarke was taking musical suggestions from the audience and played School Days (Not sure if they intended to play that all along and waited until someone yelled it out). If you can see this show, I would highly recommend

What an awesome show. Each artist came with flavor & have us our money’s worth. Norman Brown was on fire. I’ll definitely go see him again. Two thumbs up for the entire concert 👍🏾👍🏾

It was an awesome show from start to finish

by Sanman on 10/5/21Fisher Theatre - Detroit

Being that I haven’t been to a jazz concert since the start of the pandemic this show was worth the wait at the glamorous Fischer Theater a great venue to promote a jazz concert featuring the legendary Stanley Clark, Norman Brown and Detroit’s own Marion Meadows I would highly recommend more jazz concerts at the Fischer Theater!!!👍🏿👏🏿

by Motor City Master on 10/5/21Fisher Theatre - Detroit

I've attended numerous concerts in my life round the world and by far this concert was one of the best I've ever attended! Each artist was unique in there own right! I would have stayed longer if allowed!

    Excellent!!

by Knee C on 10/5/21Fisher Theatre - Detroit

Loved all 3 of the Jazz performers. A little lengthy in the set up of each band for the performers which took up a little time, but I am sure it was was necessary for the fantastic sound. Great concert and great venue!

    Awesome

    by D. S. on 10/5/21Fisher Theatre - Detroit

This was my first time EVER in the Fisher Theater and it was absolutely gorgeous. I was a little disappointed that Marion Meadows didn't get to be on the stage long, but Norman Brown stole the show. He is such a great performer and he played all the songs we are so familiar with. Stanley is a little before my time, but I enjoyed his performance as well.

    At The Fischer

by TC on 10/5/21Fisher Theatre - Detroit

Wow ...Marion Meadows was great. Norman Brown stole the show...he reminded me of the kool cats in the 50's and 60's. Stanley came up short. Albeit, he gave the spotlight to others, people came to see Stanley play. Bongos are nice, as other instruments, but he has been moving away these past years, of himself playing less and less. Stand up bass is great. But he has forgotten his roots that made him what he is today, and not giving the audience that what made him great. People I talked to after the show agreed in the disappointment. Lets face it, we came to see Stanley Clarke play electric bass, that's' why we paid for the expensive tickets. And I am a huge fan since seeing him in Detroit since 1978. But it was nice hearing Wild Dog tribute to George Duke! Help us Stanley! Next time in Detroit, play for us like your album: I Wanna Play For You!

    Jazz concert

by Tri on 10/5/21Fisher Theatre - Detroit

It was awesome!! Standing ovations for all 3!! The only thing I didn't like is that the seats could have been spaced apart, fortunately the people on my roll did keep their masks up.

    Jazzy Date Night in Detroit

    by A. D. on 10/5/21Fisher Theatre - Detroit

Great line up. The young man on violin accompanying Stanley Clarke was awesome. Norman Brown had great energy. Ive been a marion Meadows fan for a while and had not seen him in about 5-6 years. Excellent concert. Worth the ticket price especially for these three stellar acts.

Wonderful to be out with people

by exubrnce on 10/4/21Fisher Theatre - Detroit

Was especially excited to see a live music at the Fisher. Unfortunately the acoustics are not good at all for amplified music. It was great to see Marion Meadows although his sound has gotten repetitive and one dimensional. Enjoyed the energy of Norman Brown which was destroyed by horrible acoustics and him staying on stage 20 minutes too long. Was getting so late we had to leave before Stanley came on. Thankfully the audience was the most beautiful part of the experience.

    Jazz in the D

by Guesswhoiwas on 10/4/21Fisher Theatre - Detroit

... Good show ... Marion Meadows opened, best I've seen him, great band!!! Norman Brown, (one of my favs) Sound guys wrecked his set ... Bad mix!! Too much Bass, Drums, Reverb ... not sharp and clean ... he's great when the mix is right!! Stanley Clark set ...mmm newer band members, bit rushed due to late hour (needed to start @ 7:30 not 8:00), could have been tighter ... Evan Garr was good! Stanley has definitely played better, more complete shows!

    Terrific Show

by Jazzear on 9/18/18Howard Theatre - Washington

This was only the second time that I've seen Clarke (the first time was years ago with McCoy Tyner). He is one fine bassist, with a first-rate band. The addition of a fiddler, plus a percussionist (from Afghanistan, no less) gave it a different sound. Clarke doesn't perform much around here, so I'm glad that this opportunity came up.
