About

STAIND IN CONCERT:

With three consecutive No. 1 albums of anthemic nu metal in the '00s, Staind became one of the most successful alt-rock groups of the decade.  Blending muscular guitar shredding and singer Aaron Lewis's emotional, melodic lyrics, the band's impressive live shows span their entire discography, treating fans to studio-perfect renditions of their biggest hits alongside alternative, countrified versions of songs like "Mudshovel."

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Formed in Massachusetts in 1994, Staind started out playing hard rock covers in local clubs before self-releasing their 1996 debut Tormented. While they only pressed four thousand copies, the album garnered enough attention to land them a deal with Flip Records and the production assistance of Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst for their 1999 follow-up Dysfunction. The album received favorable reviews and drew comparisons to nu metal legends like Korn, but its reception paled in comparison to 2001's Break the Cycle, an international No. 1 and multi-platinum smash. The band's next four albums would all land in the Top 5 of the Billboard 200, establishing an impressive catalog of hits and building anticipation for the band's rumored return to the studio in 2014.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Staind was unbelievable. The band sounded amazing. Aaron's voice gives you chills live. They played everything...They even played quite a few new songs which they totally killed on."

"Staind dug deeply into their classics to get the crowd going. Aaron Lewis was great and seemed to be having fun during an audience participation sequence. Staind played every song I wanted to hear plus more so I left very satisfied."

"I expected a top flight show from Staind and got it...they exceeded my expectations. They had a great mix of hard and soft music; all Staind."

    Stimulated me!

by docrmc on 7/10/09Merriweather Post Pavilion - Columbia

In short: Halestorm was good, Shinedown was better, Chevelle rocked, but Staind brought the house down (for me, anyway). While fanboy (or girl) shows have their place, and building up to a crescendo might be a strategy, it was clear that the bands had a different game plan- declare that you came to rock from song 1, and don't let up. Admittedly, I wasn't there for Halestorm, and they did what I expected- end on their most popular track. Shinedown mixed up their setlist with released and album trks, but not in a set order i liked. Chevelle did the same, but in a better order, although w. less songs from the later albums as some would of liked. But Staind's setlist was extremely well done- beginning and ending w. 'Dysfunction' trks. The crowd only found cause to wave lighters once (thank Jeebus). Aaron Lewis came down to a stage in the crowd for an acoustic encore, and simply strummed through several sections while the (surprisingly good sounding) crowd carried the songs. Incredible. Needless to say, I lost my voice. Wonderful time!

    Shinedown was the highlight

by RichG on 7/10/09Merriweather Post Pavilion - Columbia

All bands put on a good show. Chevelle had a short set so played the hits and two new songs. Shinedown had a great performance very energetic. Staind started off hard then went through a string of slower tempo songs which killed the energy. At least they finished strong with Mud Shovel!

    Staind ok, Shinedown ROCKED

by moongrl2 on 7/10/09Merriweather Post Pavilion - Columbia

Shinedown should have been the headline band for sure. While Staind was good, they almost seemed anti-climatic after Chevelle and Shinedown. And Chevelle should have been able to play longer. Over all a good show.

Shinedown was amazing, Staind was ok.

by Tatterdbutterfly on 7/10/09Merriweather Post Pavilion - Columbia

The entire concert line up was good. However with Halestorm, Chevelle and Staind the music was so loud that the singers couldn't begin to compete. Shinedown was the only band that the singer was able to project his voice and keep the entire audience enthralled through the entire performance. Any chance to see Shinedown again I will go for!!!

    Great Live!

I am not your typical hard rock fan and I had the most amazing time. These bands all sounded excellent live, as do most, and the atmosphere was entertaining and energetic!

    Amazing Acts

by Joeismyname on 7/8/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

I was amazed at how much i enjoyed Halestorm. The weekest act was Chevelle but that's relative to how awesome the concert was

Shinedown was amazing!!! Halestorm was also great!

by Trina223 on 7/8/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

I thought the concert was excellent. Shinedown puts on a great show and they are way too under-rated...they need more exposure so everyone can enjoy them as much as I have the past couple of times we saw them in concert! Chevelle and Halestorm impressed me as well! Staind was great too.

Rock Show on the 4th of July!

by RockFan777 on 7/8/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

It started off with Halestorm singing the national anthem, which continued into their first song. Later in their set the whole band brought out drums and with the drummer the whole band played the drums, drumline style. It was actually pretty impressive. The next band was Chevelle, they played a couple of their good songs but didn't really have a great stage presence. The next band was Shinedown, which was probably my favorite band of the night. I knew all of the songs that they played and they were all better live for sure. The band just had suck a great presence on stage and really got the crowd excited to be at a rock show. I've seen them a couple times live and this was one of their better shows. And then the headliner Staind. They have been hit or miss when I have seen them live. They seem better in smaller venues. I thought this show was going to be a miss. The band came out and played their songs very well, but Aaron Lewis just didn't seem to be into it that much at the beginning. It was like 3 or 4 songs into their setlist until he spoke to the crowd on the mic. But then when he came back out to do the encore, all doubt was gone. He did three acoustic songs that were absolutely amazing and then gave it his all to end it with Mudshovel. A great way to spend your 4th.

    Great concert!!

by Katibugsonme on 7/7/09Peoria Civic Center - Peoria

We drove 3 hours to attend this concert. Halestorm was an awesome opener. Very entertaining. Chevelle wasn't great but Shinedown and Staind were fantastic. We loved the that Staind included an acoustic set in their performance! Aaron Lewis forgot a few of our fave songs, but all is forgiven. We highly recommend this concert to anyone.

    Shinedown Rocks

by SsMinnow on 7/7/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

The 3 Stars are for Shinedown, Chevelle, and Halestorm (in that order). Notice Staind did not rate a star.

    Shinedown was the highlight

by smogk on 7/6/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

I liked halestorm's cd, but they were not that great live. Don't really remember too much of chevelle. I've never heard their music. Staind was the headliner, and they were great. I had never seen them live before. But for me, Shinedown was the highlight, hands down. They put on an excellant show and have great energy that rubs easily off on the crowd. The entire night was amazing and I would highly recommend this show to anyone that is able to go.

    WOAH!

by jTown on 7/6/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

The concert was AMAZING! Money spent was well spent! The only thing that I got irritated about was the fact the the mics for Shinedown kept cutting in and out.

    Shinedown Fing Rocked

by ShinedownFan1 on 7/6/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

I only saw the last three bands, but Shinedown rocked my socks off as usual. They were superb as usual, and this is my fourth time seeing them. Staind rocked too, as this was also the forth time to see them live, and I have to say my favorite time. Chevelle did not disappoint either!

    4th of July Rock Show

by MadBadandDangeroustoKnow on 7/6/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

This was a good show with one exception. Parking was quick and easy, easy access to vendors and there were many welcome bathrooms. Show lineup was good, Chevelle is always great and Shinedown is my new favorite band. Nice big crowd, lots of pretty girls! Sound level was disappointing until Staind got on stage, that's the one lowpoint there wasn't enough volume for Chevelle and Shinedown. Back on the lawn where I was I couldn't hear it the way I like to.
