    Laneway Festival

by MichiganIrishman on 9/17/13Meadow Brook Music Festival - Rochester Hills

It was hard to believe how many great Indie acts made their way to Meadow Brook Music Festival. What luck to have this great festival debut in Michigan. For those who are tired of commercial radio will find a happy home at this festival.

    Amazing day

by josedrivas on 9/17/13Meadow Brook Music Festival - Rochester Hills

It was very well put together, the set up flowed seamlessly as far as the physical and logistical organization. Hardly any hiccups except the sound issue with WASHED OUT. The merch options were seriously lacking. Cool to see some local acts perform hopefully there could be more next year. Maybe also have some local businesses featured as well as far as food and drink options. More vendors in general would be good. Liked the artists doing their thing and having booths of their own set up. Definitely hope that comes back. The maps were pretty clear and made planning a breeze. The app was also nice but could use a little tweaking as far as UI and options setup is concerned. For it being the first time it was a really dope festival. Looking forward to it becoming a musical staple in the region.

The venue was awesome. The mixture of bands was perfect. It had a great feel to it. I loved the size and the amount of people that went. The only objection I had were having the last two bands play by themselves so there was no other option of seeing anyone else. My friends and I can't wait to go again next year. I know one more thing, the festival needs more food carts and options for different types of food.

Incredible! The entire festival was excellent. The location was perfect and the set up worked well. It never felt too crowded and everyone was really cool. The bands were so good. Sigur Ros and The National ended the night beautifully. The beer was a little expensive and the choice pretty limited.

Excellent setup, minimal crowds, great energy

by NashvilleCouple on 9/17/13Meadow Brook Music Festival - Rochester Hills

Excellent setup, minimal crowds, great energy. As an bonnaroo goer, this was a great mini version. I don't think they were prepared with the beer and I wish they would've allowed for tips. They should've had more food truck options but what I had was delicious. I wish they would've focused on local artists/beer/food. But overall the music, people, and venue were great.

    Please Come Back

by tstarkmi on 9/17/13Meadow Brook Music Festival - Rochester Hills

For the first year in North America, this festival was great. Venue had plenty of space, sound quality was excellent... more food trucks, craft beers, and merchandise from all of the different acts would have bumped this review up to five stars.

Sigur Ross was amazing - VIP was a waste of money

by nick2013 on 9/17/13Meadow Brook Music Festival - Rochester Hills

the festival was really cool. perfect weather and really good shows. I was very disappointed by the so-called VIP experience. Honestly it was a waste of my money.

    Great single day festival

by philobri on 9/17/13Meadow Brook Music Festival - Rochester Hills

I heard about this festival through Songkick and the prospect of seeing the The National again was enough for me to buy the tickets. Unfortunately I was not able to get anyone to go with me so I spent the day going from act to act alone which was not necessarily a bad thing however I felt exhausted after traveling/sun and beer, that I ended up mid-way during Sigur Ros and missed the act I wanted to see in the first place! The best performance of the day in my opinion was Frightened Rabbit. I saw them live about 5 years ago and was not blown away by their performance then however this time round I thought they were superb. Loved the energy and passion exuded from the band particularity their front man. Other acts that I enjoyed included Phosphorescent, Churches, Deerhunter, Washed Out (though I think they sound better on their album) and Sigur Ros (amazing visual spectable). I felt the performances by Savages and Dismemberment plan were average and was too impressed with Icona pop. Overall a great day, some memorable bands and a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Will definitely go again next year.

    A perfect day and venue

by aloaix on 9/17/13Meadow Brook Music Festival - Rochester Hills

Of all the festivals I attended this year (Jazz Fest, Pitchfork, Lollapalooza), this was far and a way the most enjoyable of the three. My friends and i drove from Chicago to see this lineup and we were all blown away by how great everything was. Along with being an exceptionally curated festival, the grounds and layout were ideal for maximizing one's music listening experience (i.e., distances between stages were not excessive, stages and set times were set up for little to no interference, and the amenities were situated in logical and non-obstructing locations). The crowd was amazing: invested in the music, dancing, and not acting foolishly (or immaturely). The only critique i offer is that there probably needed to be more food options because it seemed like lines were generally quite long. But, this is a really small part of my festival going interest. I hope the festival returns next year. i will definitely be in attendance! a.a.

It was amazing, easily the best festival I've ever been to. Much better than Lolla or Bunbury.

Warpaint & the National - unreal

by cyagley01 on 9/17/13Meadow Brook Music Festival - Rochester Hills

This venue was incredible from the lineup to the location, to the weather. The scattered artists were the perfect compliment to a perfect day.
