Spandau Ballet still fantastic!
by Marc2011 on 4/30/15House of Blues - Chicago - ChicagoLoved Spandau Ballet in high school but lost track of them in the late 80s. Never knew what happened to the guys. Caught the show in Chicago out of curiosity with friends from high school, but was very pleasantly surprised by the talent and musicianship displayed by the band. Spandau is tight, funky and sophisticated, and gave a taste of its entire evolution from Brit new wave to funky dance-pop to the quintessential 80s pop/soul of their best known U.S. hits. They even threw in some clever new songs. Thoroughly impressed by the band. Tony Hadley's voice is still in excellent shape. Watching Steve Norman bounce around from guitar to percussion to blistering sax was awesome. John pounded the drums and the Kemp bros kept it rocking. More than nostaglia, Spandau Ballet is playing at the top of their game. Highly recommend.
