THE GUY IS AMAZING. HE'S NOT LOST A STEP SINCE I FIRST SAW HIM IN 1977 AT THE CLEVELAND AGORA WITH RONNIE SPECTOR. I HAD FRONT ROW SEATS THAT WERE WORTH THE MONEY SPENT. BAND AND BRASS WERE TIGHT AS WERE THE VOCALS. HE'S COMING BACK IN JULY, I PLAN TO GET TICKETS.

Rating: 5 out of 5 Southside Johnny
by Rongoose on 1/1/10Birchmere - AlexandriaIt has been 30 years since I last seen Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes at the Paladium in NYC,,,Moving to Chicago and then Charlotte took me out of the range in which they toured. After watching their web site to see how close they would come to Charlotte I took the plunge and made the drive to Alexandria, Va to see them play. At 61 years old, Southside Johnny is rocking as hard as he did 30 years ago. He voice is perhaps raspier than it was 30 years ago but his energy level hasn't changed. It was one song after another. With a mix of his older songs with some recent material. 3 encores and a solid 2 1/2 hours. The only question I have is why did I wait 30 years to see him!!!
Rating: 5 out of 5 Southside Johnny - Still Got it Big Time
by LDM2 on 12/31/09Birchmere - AlexandriaWhat a show. 2.5 hours of Classsic and New Stuff. Horns were as "blastin as ever". Been out of touch last saw the Jukes in the Bayou in 1982...... found my way home. : ) Wish I was in RedBank for 31 Dec Show. Need to plan the l
Rating: 4 out of 5 Southside Johnny delivers!
by TC09 on 12/30/09Birchmere - AlexandriaThe show was outstanding, and the band was top notch. Johnny sang for over 2 hours. The horn section was spectacular. The only reason for 4 versus 5 stars is the sound was a bit too loud. Same problem we had with Springsteen last month at the phone booth.
Rating: 5 out of 5 First time seeing SSJ
by LPKIG on 12/30/09Birchmere - AlexandriaOn holiday in DC from the UK, on a whim i got a ticket to see SSJ at The Birchmere. An old g/f used to rave about the Asbury Jukes so i thought i would see what i had been missing all these years. Quite frankly it was a fantastic night. SSJ was charismatic and held the audience in the palm of his hand from the moment he appeared. The music was vibrant & varied and performed by fabulous musicians. Suffice to say he was called upon to do three encores & i can't wait til he hits London to see him again.

by jerseyvagirl on 12/30/09Birchmere - AlexandriaI have seen Southside at the Birchmere for the past 5 years. This was, by far, my favorite one. But...where was Bobby?
Rating: 5 out of 5 Southside Johhny and the Asbury Jukes
by Tim556 on 12/30/09Birchmere - AlexandriaFirst time seeing the Jukes live. What an incredible show. Three encores. Johhny and the band put on incredible show. The classics sounded as good as they did when I heard my first Jukes albumn 35 years ago.
Rating: 5 out of 5 Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes rocked!!
by JerseyJoan on 12/30/09Birchmere - AlexandriaGreat blues rock, incredible performance. Loved the horn section. Johnny is still amazingly energetic. And the Birchmere is a fabulous venue because it's so intimate and the wait staff so friendly.

Rating: 5 out of 5 Southside can still rock the house!!!
by WesternGal on 12/30/09Birchmere - AlexandriaSouthside Johnny can put many younger artists to total shame. He put on one of the very best concerts I have ever seen him perform last night at the Birchmere in Alexandria, VA. He played for three hours and did three encores. Cannot WAIT to see him again soon!!!
Rating: 2 out of 5 TOO LOUD
by jaws99 on 7/27/09Penn's Peak - Jim ThorpeThe concert would have been great if they would have cut the volume in half. As it was, I saw several groups of people leave after about 20 minutes into SSJ's performance. We were sitting in the back where it should have been a little quieter, and we had to go outside to the back (with the smokers) after about 50 minutes. By then we could barely hear each other talk. We left about ten minutes later. It was too bad, because we really like the band. Don't get me wrong, I like to play my music loud, but there was one sax. solo when I was in pain from the sound. It has been said that "if it is too loud, you're too old". I think that the person who first said this is already deaf ! I last saw SSJ about 27 or so years ago in Long Island, and was looking forward to another great performance, but unfortunately was dissapointed.
Rating: 5 out of 5 The hardest working band in the land!
by TwistedPair on 7/27/09Penn's Peak - Jim ThorpeSouthside Johnny and the Jukes are still as amazing as they were 30 years ago. The band is tight and Johnny's voice is as soulful as ever. Took some friends to their first Jukes concert and, after the first song, they were up and dancing for over 2 hours. Great fun, great venue, worth every penny.
Rating: 5 out of 5 Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes were awesome!
by debj81529 on 7/26/09Penn's Peak - Jim ThorpeI have been a fan of this band for years, but had never seen them play live. I thought it would be great and it was 10 times better than I thought it would be. I danced the entire night. We were about 20 feet from the stage and we had so much fun. The band and Johnny really put on a great, entertaining show and I will definitely go see them agaoin the next time they are in town.
Rating: 4 out of 5 Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes
by JockoVictorious on 7/25/09Penn's Peak - Jim ThorpeThat guy sure earns his money. A hard hitting high energy show at Penn's Peak last night. Only complaint was the sound man needs to be in front of the band instead on the stage to the right of the band. The sound was way too loud and it didn't have to be that way. Otherwise, Penn's Peak is a great place to see ANY show.
Rating: 4 out of 5 Southside Johnny was great

by Homer1 on 7/22/09Birchmere - AlexandriaSouthside Johnny and the Asbury Dukes always put on an amazing and energetic show. There is no down-time: they move, seemingly effortlessly, from one song to the next, and it's always a great performance. We go to see them whenever they are in our area.

Rating: 3 out of 5 Southside Johnny & Delta Moon
by leaque on 7/13/09Birchmere - AlexandriaThe opening act (Delta Moon) had another stellar performance. As always, Delta Moon, hit the stage with energy, smiles and lots of appreciation for the crowd. Southside Johnny gave a nice performance and got the Birchmere rocking. Overall, the night was a great success and I can't wait to see the bands return for another performance.
