Very good but not without some blemishes
by Davidsbundler on 1/26/16Parker Playhouse - Ft LauderdaleRating: 4 out of 5Overall, the performance of Beethoven's 9th was very good but far from perfect. First the good: the strings, brass and woodwinds played in tune, the last movement was a powerful combination of orchestra and chorus, and the tempos were good. Now the bad: occasionally the strings were out of synch, the French horn parts were played poorly, the solo soprano vocalist stood out too much, and the pianissimos were too loud. Additionally, Parker Playhouse is a dead venue lacking any reverb that would have given the overall sound more ambiance and warmth. Overall, very good performance, but far from perfect.
