South Florida Bulls Women’s Basketball History
The South Florida Bulls women's basketball team represents the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida. Launched in the 1972-73 season, the USF women’s basketball program rose to Division I gameplay in 1982 and joined the Sun Belt Conference in 1984. The Bulls became members of the Metro Conference in 1991, followed by Conference USA in 1995, the Big East in 2005 and The American from 2013 to the present.
The USF Bulls have earned 10 bids to the NCAA Women’s Tournament, first in 2013 and most recently in 2025. The team has also secured nine berths to the Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) and won in 2009. Additionally, USF has won two regular season conference championships, in 2021 and 2023, as well as two American Conference tournament championships, in 2021 and 2025. Notable alumni include WNBA champion Wanda Guyton and WNBA All-Star Courtney Williams. The USF Bulls women’s basketball team has been coached by Jose Fernandez since the 2000-01 season.

South Florida Bulls Women’s Basketball at Yuengling Center
USF basketball has been played on campus at the Yuengling Center since 1980. Yuengling Center, formerly the USF Sun Dome, has been nicknamed the “Rose Garden” for the late men’s basketball coach Lee Rose and “The Keg” for the venue’s namesake sponsor, who assumed the naming rights in 2018. The venue holds a capacity of 10,500 and includes the student section So Flo Rodeo.
