South Florida Bulls at Raymond James Stadium
In less than a quarter of a century, the University of South Florida has built a team from the ground up that can compete among the best in the nation. The USF Bulls play out of Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, which opened in 1998 and currently seats 65,618. Even though the Tampa Bay region is centrally located on the Florida peninsula, the University of South Florida was the southernmost school in the Florida state university system upon its founding in 1956. The Bulls are coached by Jeff Scott, who won two national championships as the co-offensive coordinator at Clemson before joining South Florida after the 2019 season.
History of South Florida Bulls Football
After years of grassroots support among USF students, and spearheaded by the assistant athletic director and Hall of Fame defensive end Lee Roy Selmon, the South Florida Bulls first took the field on September 6, 1997, beating Kentucky Wesleyan 80-3 in its first game at Houlihan's Stadium. USF played four seasons at the NCAA Division 1-AA level before quickly rising up the FBS level, joining the Big East Conference in 2005 after success in Conference USA and as a Division 1-A independent. South Florida's breakout season came in 2007, upsetting No. 17 Auburn and No. 5 West Virginia on their way to a 6-0 start. The Bulls were ranked as high as No. 2 before finishing the season with a 9-4 record and a Sun Bowl appearance.
The USF Bulls are known for the quality of their head coaches throughout their history, including Jim Leavitt, who ran the program from its inception until 2011. The Bulls have also been coached by such notable names as Skip Holtz, Willie Taggart, and Charlie Strong. Many distinguished players have suited up for the Bulls, including Jason Pierre-Paul and Nate Allen. USF's biggest rivalry by far is against in-state conference opponent Central Florida, with the Knights facing the Bulls on a regular basis since UCF joined the Big East during its transition into the American Athletic Conference in 2012.

The stadium needs clearer signs for entrances to the parking lot. One sign pointed to the right for an entrance but when you get there you discover you can only enter from the opposite direction. Once you get in the parking lot there are few, if any, signs pointing to the path you must follow to get through the fences.
I enjoyed the game and it was appropriate for children to attend. I thought the refreshment prices were very high for a college game.
My wife and I took our son to the game. The atmosphere of the college game was a lot of fun for us all. The " Take a Kid to the Game" was a great deal for us. We will definitely go to more USF games.
There were to many underage drunk college kids. We have been to many college games and have never experienced the rudeness of the underage drinking. Not including my 6 year old son who accidentally ran into someone in the crowd who tried to pick a fight with him because he was so drunk. When we went to get a soda, i was very applaud at the language that my children had to endure. We will never take them to another USF game again or support the bulls. .
what a great opportunity for our family to afford a night of Bulls football. Our two kids were free, and affordable companion tickets ... we wouldn't have gone otherwise, sad to say. Thank you for Take a Kid to the Game night!
My little student loved the game. We also bought him a helmet with horns.
Enjoyed, but wish tickets weren't in nose bleed section. it wasn't close to being a sell out, just feel that they should provide tickets for lower level.
The staff at the Raymond James Stadium was very friendly and helpful. Parking and post game traffic was extremely frustrating, but otherwise a very enjoyable evening for the family. Seating is much more comfortable than the UF stadium!
The actual game was pretty good. The USF students bring a lot of energy into Raymond James stadium. I had a better time at the USF Bulls Game than the Buc's game. Rocky was awesome. Half time / pregame show was great. The energy of the HOT band was off the chart.
THE GAME WAS GREAT, PARKING VERY EASY - VERY ACCOMODATING FOR TAILGATING, FANS FRIENDLY AND VERY TEAM SPIRITED! THE BAND WAS WONDERFUL AND PLAYED ALL GAME! THE ENDING OF THE GAME WITH THE BAND PLAYING THE ALMA MATER AND THE TEAM THANKING THE FANS WAS OUTSTANDING!
This place was terrible. Empty. Too many kids, not a football atmosphere
It's our first time going to a football game, my experience is a pleasant one. it is very well organize, friendly atmosphere, clean stadium. I feel safe bringing my kids to this game. Thanks for the free kid ticket.
What a great experience for the kids. They had a blast and it didn't cost a fortune. Now if the Tampa Bay Bucs would do something like this they wouldn't be blacked out every weekend. What a concept!!!
I'm proud alumni. I love going to football games and supporting my Bulls but I'd never taken my four year old son because I didn't know how he'd react. The Take a Kid to the Game night worked out great since he got in free I didn't feel like it'd be a waste if he hated it ,but turns out he had a great time! Thanks!
My son and I had an awesome time! We really appreciated the free kid ticket!
Great deal for the tickets, but what a boring game. USF is so totally above the likes of FAU, it was a joke.
WOW what an awesome game. Took my daughter and her friend to the game and they had an awesome time. This game was for the H.O.T. Parent Day and the band and the game could not have been any better. Was worried about making the game due to emergency surgery the week before the game, but the seats were ok. Food prices are definitely getting way too expensive for the amount/quality of the food or drink.
Thanks for the sponser that made this event happen and bring the community together and involved.
My husband took my son and my son's friend from school to the game. They had an awesome time cheering and exploring the events going on with different vendors going on during the game.
