South Florida Bulls at Raymond James Stadium
In less than a quarter of a century, the University of South Florida has built a team from the ground up that can compete among the best in the nation. The USF Bulls play out of Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, which opened in 1998 and currently seats 65,618. Even though the Tampa Bay region is centrally located on the Florida peninsula, the University of South Florida was the southernmost school in the Florida state university system upon its founding in 1956. The Bulls are coached by Jeff Scott, who won two national championships as the co-offensive coordinator at Clemson before joining South Florida after the 2019 season.
History of South Florida Bulls Football
After years of grassroots support among USF students, and spearheaded by the assistant athletic director and Hall of Fame defensive end Lee Roy Selmon, the South Florida Bulls first took the field on September 6, 1997, beating Kentucky Wesleyan 80-3 in its first game at Houlihan's Stadium. USF played four seasons at the NCAA Division 1-AA level before quickly rising up the FBS level, joining the Big East Conference in 2005 after success in Conference USA and as a Division 1-A independent. South Florida's breakout season came in 2007, upsetting No. 17 Auburn and No. 5 West Virginia on their way to a 6-0 start. The Bulls were ranked as high as No. 2 before finishing the season with a 9-4 record and a Sun Bowl appearance.
The USF Bulls are known for the quality of their head coaches throughout their history, including Jim Leavitt, who ran the program from its inception until 2011. The Bulls have also been coached by such notable names as Skip Holtz, Willie Taggart, and Charlie Strong. Many distinguished players have suited up for the Bulls, including Jason Pierre-Paul and Nate Allen. USF's biggest rivalry by far is against in-state conference opponent Central Florida, with the Knights facing the Bulls on a regular basis since UCF joined the Big East during its transition into the American Athletic Conference in 2012.
I love the game so much! I took my family and we had a blast. I can’t wait to attend another one. Go Knights!
Like these event. We came fro. Germany and have a great Event.
The ticket that I purchased was 5 stars! It was a pleasant surprise to learn that it came with access to the Hyundai Club. If given the chance to purchase again, I would absolutely do it!
In a game that did not disappoint, the UCF Knights won in a dramatic way with the Holy Holler catch. The War on I-4 is complete. Knights Win! Go Knights. Charge On. Horns Down. End Scene.
Great time at South Florida Bulls vs Howard Bison, super stadium, great atmosphere, great game and super experience overall. Would defo come back if in the area again. Top Banana✅✅
Three of us had a wonderful evening out!👍Great close parking and the weather was fantastic!!!. As a graduate of USF, it was nice to rekindle my love of the game. Our seats were super, club seating😁 Food was too expensive, pretty tasty.
The electronic ticketing process is a winner. Being able to transfer tickets electronically and trust your tickets are secure is a major plus!!
Always a good time at a USF BULLS game!! Seats were awesome!
Gator fan, great using Ticketmaster. I wish I could have sold my extra ticket to someone at the game.
Even that the Bulls lost this game, the experience inside the stadium was very enjoyable. Lots of food and drink stations
Had a great time. Nice way to spend a few hours on a Saturday
Everything went smooth from buying tickets to parking to getting to our seats! It was a great time!
Great experience. My son loved it we would def go again
This was our first time at a USF football event as our daughter had transferred to this school. Glad we experienced the homecoming event as it was very well organized and nothing was out of hand or crazy. The venue at the stadium is excellent. We had great seats which my husband loved as they were padded. Will really love to come back for another USF game as well as a Tampa Bay Bucs game
The game and fans were great. The piped in music between plays was louder than a rock concert though. Enjoy the game, but bring ear plugs unless you want your ears to hum for two days!
Great LED screens, sound system, and folks working.
Concessions prices higher than any stadium I have ever been. Been to several. Not easy to find out what you can and cannot bring in. Had to search multiple links...ie not in faq
Good game. BUT the tickets are in a section that normally has club access but these tickets (at 58 bucks) did not have club access. Buyer beware.
USF Football games are great! A lot of fun to tailgate, and cheer on the USF Bulls to victory. The stadium provides a great setting for what is guaranteed to be an exciting 60 minutes of Football!. Unlike many College venues USF plays in Raymond James and has comfortable seats (Not bleachers) HUGE VIDEO BOARDS, and great places to eat and drink. COme on down and cheer on your local team! GOOO BULLS!
Great event. The only problem was that I was sent back to my car to put my bag up. They said it was too big. However, I saw other people bring in bags that were bigger. There needs to be consistent enforcement of the bag size.
