Take Your Earplugs
by King97tut on 7/10/11Prudental Center - NewarkI waited 3 months for this concert. I heard all the hype on the radio, I was pumped up to go see the band that was so elusive to me in my early years. My train was delayed do to death on the tracks ahead, we get there its pouring rain, but that did not deter me and my husband. We get in the building after the warmup we forgot name band was playing. They sounded music wise ok but since they were more heavy metal related band, then we figured there were no issues with the sound system. They got off, the roadies did there thing in 20 min and the standby music was kicking butt. But then the wait....30 mintues later they came out after waiting almost an hour. They played an unknown opening song,,then went right into spoonman my favortie song which they cut short with no drum solo. With the feedback and the volume so loud my ears were ringing. They guy next to me put napkins in his ear, I figured they could work out the sound by the third song...they didnt..for such a top notch band you would of figured they would had a better sound system. Finally they apolgized for being late, but no mention on why they sounded like crap. They go into there fourth song set and we dashed..put it like this..they being pro musicians, but there sound system was something a high school would use for band class..to loud and no proper equalazation from the sound man. So if you want a concert with max volume, no bass, ear wrenching feedback..knock yourself out..I'm 47 and my first concert was Led Zepplin..I have seen over 100 headline concerts in my lifetime so I know what I'm talking about....if you go and they are playin inside...take earplugs...my left ear is still ringing two days later..when we left there were a bunch of people also leaving..they all said the same thing....to loud and it sounded like crap.
