So You Think You Can Dance Live! on Tour

As the name implies, the ‘So You Think You Can Dance' Live! tour is an extension of the long-running Fox TV series. Each year, top contestants from the show's most recent season go on the road and perform in front of live audiences. At these gigs, ‘SYTYCD' fans can expect the usual mix of inventive, high-quality choreography and solo and group spotlights. The format of the tour allows dancers to stretch out physically and emotionally, and to show off their unique personalities, which makes the night a resonant one. For the 2018 tour, the Top 10 finalists from Season 15 — including winner Hannahlei Cabanilla, a contemporary dance enthusiast from Orange County, California, and season runner-up Jensen Arnold — are hitting the road to show off their best moves, under the choreographic guidance of the Emmy-winning Mandy Moore.

About So You Think You Can Dance Live! Tour

Just as ‘American Idol' and ‘The Voice' have helped aspiring musicians launch a career, the judged competition ‘So You Think You Can Dance' has done the same for dancers. Contestants from the show, which premiered in 2005, have gone on to become professional actors and actresses, choreographers, and backup dancers for pop stars. ‘SYTYCD' itself has also become known for its innovative dance routines to popular music, and is a perennial Primetime Emmy winner, particularly in the Outstanding Choreography category.

The show's sterling track record is a testament to the stunning pool of talent on display during each season. ‘SYTYCD' doubles as a spotlight showcase for promising dancers specializing in various styles (hip-hop, jazz, contemporary), who then show off their best moves via group, pair, and individual dance performances. Each week, judges whittle down the field of competitors, before crowning one person the winner. After the season ends, the ‘So You Think You Can Dance' Live! tour gives top contestants a chance to strut their stuff in real life, up close and personal in front of the show's many, many fans.

The dancers were full of energy, gave amazing performances and showed a lot of personality and stage presence. It was a fantastic show and I recommend it highly.

  • Wordy-but $ worth!

by DOLUX1 on 9/26/09The MGM Grand at Foxwoods - MashantucketRating: 4 out of 5

The show was good-top 12 dancers & the best dances of the season along with a few group dances. the 1st 20 minutes were a waste-you watch a large screen & then the dancers introduce themselves (20 minutes worth of this w/no dancing). I've been to the show the past few years-but this one was too much talking-but still enjoyed it very much & it was worth the money. getting out of the MGM Grand parking garage was horrible-42 minutes to get out.

Great to see your favorite dances performed in person. Jeanine (the winner) and Brandon (runner up) more impressive live than on TV. The butt dance and the addiction dance were so incredible on the stage. Saw some details that I missed on TV. Such as the finger movements in the addiction dance that really enhanced the dance. The paso doble was magnificant. Ballywood another dance even better live. Philip's solo so much fun (he was not top 10 but so smart of SYTYCD to include him as special guest) I had the best time. The show really delivered. 2 and a half hours of performance. What a bargain.

Dancing...was amazing...cannot say enough about these young performers, their talent and dance ability was magnificient. Unfortunately, everything else fair. I paid almost $100 for two flloor seats and could not see the stage. We had to watch the entire performance on the monitors. If I wanted to watch TV, I could have stayed home and watched my own big screen TV for free. Very disappointing. As far as the show, at times I felt like I was watching a televised broadcast, it was like watching the show on TV.

The show was awesome. I would definitely go back again. I recommend this show to everyone. It was more exciting to watch live then seeing it on tv.

3 hours of fabulous entertainment! Definately worth the money! The dancers themselves hosted the show. There were some very funny moments. Lot of great dances from last season as well as a few new ones. TheThe MGM Grand was very nice. Free valet parking. Will definately plan on seeing next season's tour.

  • Exceptional Dance Show!!

    by DancingFan2 on 9/26/09Prudential Center - NewarkRating: 5 out of 5

The "So You Think You can Dance" live show was everything I expected and then some. The talent, strength, and the prue dancing ability of the performers was fantastic. The variety of dance styles combined with individual, pair, and group dance segments made the event interesting and enjoyable to watch. There were a few moments of "talk" that could have been omitted since I was so astounded by the dancing that I wanted to see more dancing. Phillip's pop routines were unlike anything I have seen anywhere by anybody else. He deserved the long standing ovation he received after his solo performance. A single component of the show that was annoying was the stage lighting. There were many lights located at the rear of the stage behind the performers that projected directly into my eyes and a couple that reflected off of the stage floor. These were bright enough to cause "spots" in my vision and so were a significant distraction to viewing the performances. I would think that stage designers with even basic training would have avoided setting up the stage lighting in this way. Otherwise, a great show!

  • Dancers were fantastic

    by sunnygirl8 on 9/26/09Prudential Center - NewarkRating: 4 out of 5

I really enjoyed seeing the Season 5 cast. I think they are the most talented group of dancers of all the seasons so far. They were terrific and it was really exciting to see them live. I had floor seats and the only negative was that the stage was not high enough to see them entirely. I'm 5' 9" and couldn't see lower than their knee. Anyone shorter would have even less of a view.

  • Loved Phillip and Kupono!!

The show was just amazing... very funny too! Very much enjoyed meeting the dancers!!!

I was lucky enough to score 3 tickets in Row A in the Mezz. I couldn't ask for any better. The show was fantastic! Sound was a little loud in MGM but got used to it in a short time. I recommend this show to anyone who loves dance! Lots of emotions! Love it. Love It Love It

  • SYTYCD was INCREDIBLE

by dancetchrm on 9/26/09The MGM Grand at Foxwoods - MashantucketRating: 5 out of 5

The SYTYCD show was an amazing show. The dancers were so talented and their energy and tecnique were just fantastic. Loved every number, wished they would have done the Tango with Brandon & Jeanette, that was my personal favorite, but the Disco made up for it.

  • SYTYCD does not disappoint

This is my 4th SYTYCD road show and it just gets better and better. This show generates an enormous amount of radiant energy. I never miss an episode of the show. Seeing the dances performed live is really something special!

  • Fantastic. A night of TRUE entertainment

by euromixer on 9/26/09The MGM Grand at Foxwoods - MashantucketRating: 5 out of 5

If the tickets were twice the price you would have gotten your moneys worth. This was a fantastic show. The talent was superb, but more than that that personalities of each dancer shined and allowed us to feel that much closer to each of them. Just a most wonderful charming and professional experience.

  • Best top 10 so far!!!

    by spm07869 on 9/26/09Prudential Center - NewarkRating: 5 out of 5

This show was awesome!! All of the top ten AND special guest Philip(who got a standing ovation after his solo) and Caitlin were fantastic. Not only were they great dancers, but they all have wonderful stage presence. I'm suring acting is in the future for many of them as well as dance. The ONLY drawback was how far back we were sitting. Watching them on the monitors is just like being at home. It was a strain trying to watch the stage. It would be great if they could do several nights but in a smaller venue.

  • Fantastic Energy!!!
