Great band.. Always. So a great show was to be expected, and I wasn't let down. The real surprise here was the bands ahead of them. The three bands weren't really advertised at all, and I bought the tickets pretty soon before the show, so I didn't know about them at all. There were three, the first I didn't catch the name of, but the second was 'Six by Silver'.. let's just say I'm definitely looking them up! And their official opener act was Edisun. Pretty damn good band, great guys. The only downside to the whole thing was that there really weren't many people towards the beginning, and even when people started showing up later in the evening for Smile to play, it was still much less than expected. I like a good, intimate show with some good fans, but too few takes down the energey and the overall vibe. However, one good thing about such a small venue is that the bands are more likely to stick around afterwards and mingle a bit with everyone that's there... and so they did. The most 'eventful' part for me personally: Ethan, Edisun's lead singer (crazy energy BTW!) learned I didn't get to see them when I was in Iraq; he came up to me after their set and offered to comp me tickets for their show the next night if I could make it. =)

    These guys are goin places...

by Asswaxer on 6/21/10The knitting factory - Reno

Seen them in Reno- venue "The knitting factory". Amazing sound for a 3 piece band. Picked up there lastest CD and brought it back to Alaska with me. Everyone here asks how these guys are and hittin this album boomin in the Jeep offroad is crazy sick. I can't wait to hear the next one. I never heard of the double step up chorous, but these guys got it. "Alone with nothing" is a masterpiece. Soil a bit too crunchy for my tastes. Great stuff to dance to and doesn't make me want to go on a high speed chase. Keep it up guys and hope to see you play here in Alaska. Chilkoot Charlies is the venue hear. Would completely sell out the place night after night.

    Smile Empty Soul killed it!

by ThreeDaysGraceLover on 5/5/10Fire - Jackson

Black Sunshine, Soil, & Smile Empty Soul were great! The lead singer of Black Sunshine was rushed to the ER before the show began but still made it to the concert, that shows heart. The Soil guys were amazing, we met them before the show started, real good guys. Smile Empty Soul got on stage and played for a good hour or so which I didn't expect, after the show everyone stuck around, signed stuff, and talked with the fans, it was a blast. My friend and I got to hang out with Smile Empty Soul & Soil after everyone else left, we had a great time.

    Smile Empty Soul was Great!

by Aliemsloveyou on 5/4/10Pops - Sauget

I loved how all the bands came out and had time for their fans to sign stuff and take pictures. Every other concert ive been to the bands have just left, or you had to have a backstage pass. But it was just like they were all normal people, didnt think they were higher because theyre "rockstars". It was unforgettable. Thanks so much.

    Awesome!

by GrimKitty on 4/14/10Water Street Music Hall - Rochester

A Thousand Shades of Cold played first, never head of them before but they rocked! Black Sunshine second, never head of them either and had doubt when no one cheered for their name, but they still rocked it out pretty well :) Soil was freaking awesome. and Smile Empty Soul was purely amazing. Any chance to see them live has always been great.

Smile Empty Soul A Must See

by thewarrior on 4/14/10Water Street Music Hall - Rochester

Smile Empty Soul is a must see. I've been into them heavy for about a year now. Always liked Bottom of the Bottle and Adjustments but never really knew much about them till I bought all there CDS. They are a 3 piece band who is amazing live and there recorded music really doesnt do them justice on just how good they are. Thats saying something because I love there records. They have heavy bass lines and and the lead guitar stands out with awesome riffs. I have to say this Band is very Seattle like but you can hear the California roots in the music also. Even if you havent heard one song they are a must see. I took two friends who really didnt know them and they became instant fans. We were talking due to the small grungy venue in Rodchester (Water Street Music Hall) it was almost like going back in time to when Nirvana chains or sound garden played in a place that only held 200 people. This band has been around since 98 but I only see them getting bigger. Although selfishly I hope not cause I want them all for myself. SMILE EMPTY SOUL AWESOME AWESOME LIVE SHOW!!!

    Smile Empty Soul

    by sesfan on 4/4/10Eagles Club/The Rave/Eagles Ballroom - Milwaukee

Soil was okay, Black Sunshine was pretty bad, and the opening act was just as bad. Smile Empty Soul was good though. Every band was too loud, even though it's meant to be loud.

by ThiAnna on 1/11/10Firestone Live - Orlando

Frequency Fifty four was awesome. I didn't much care for The Last Vegas. A little too out there. Burn Halo was alright. Smile Empty Soul was amazing. My fiancee took my picture with the band and we got autographs. Been listening to Smile Empty Soul for years. Very glad they sang Silhouettes because that is my favorite song. My fiancee got all the bands autographs. All in all it was definitely a great night out! Bring them back to ORLANDO and soon!

    Smile Empty Soul Delivers

    by Flowergirl077 on 12/11/09Whisky - Hollywood

Even with an injured leg, the lead singer of Smile Empty Soul delivers an amazing performance. With the history of the Whiskeya gogo all around the venue was just perfect. Jim Morrison's picture above the bar, knowing that The Rolling Stones, Janice Joplin and more played there, must make any musician performing in Hollywood feel awesome. Don't Ever Leave and Bottom of the Bottle two of my favorites sounded excellent performed live. Tight guitar playing and good harmonies. There should have been twice as many people attending this event cuz it was GREAT!! Got there late so not sure if we saw them all but Raelin, Las Vegas and Burn Halo were sweet. I think Charlie from Hollywood Undead did a guest awesome rap with Burn Halo and then after Smile Empty Soul played and after many people had left.....we stuck around to hear Frequency 54 who were absolutely AMAZING. One of the larger bands, tight guitar riffs, perfect harmonies. The lead singer had a voice that was a cross between Chris Isaac and Chris Daughtry and their last song "Last Call" totally rocked the house... these guys are going to make it big, I have no doubt. Their drummer is a total sweetheart and awesome on the drums. The guitarist with Las Vegas played an absolutely wicked fastest fingers I have ever seen guitar solo....up there with the ranks of Hendrix. The lead singer of Raelin was channeling Jimmy Page from Led Zepplin..... what a performer and doing one armed push ups off the stage. You missed a wonderful true rock and roll night!!
