SMALLPOOLS IN CONCERT:

Indie power pop quartet Smallpools brings a healthy dose of California sunshine to the stage at their unforgettable performances. The band oozes positive vibes as they bust out hook-heavy, synth-happy summer anthems like hit single "Dreaming". Frontman Sean Scanlon's funny onstage banter and quirky moves are impossible not to love, leaving ticket buyers smitten and smiling ear-to-ear. Though Smallpools is relatively new to the scene, they're already building a reputation as a must-see live act thanks to their energetic on-stage presence and dance-worthy sets.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Los Angeles-based indie pop collective Smallpools has made a colossal impression on the music world in an astoundingly short time. The group came together in 2013 after New Jersey guitarist Mike Kamerman and New York singer Sean Scanlon moved to Los Angeles to pursue their love of music. They quickly linked up with bassist Joe Intile and drummer Beau Kuther, who had just arrived in LA from Oregon. Within a year the group had built a huge following on music blog Hype Machine and earned a deal with RCA Records. In July 2014 they released their self-titled debut EP, an auspicious debut that featured four upbeat, hook-heavy tunes produced by L.A. trio Captain Cuts. The EP's hit single "Dreaming" reached mainstream audiences thanks to featured spots in video game FIFA 14 and hit show "The Vampire Diaries". Since making their live debut at the Brooklyn Bowl in summer 2014, Smallpools has performed at Lollapalooza and opened for major indie acts including Walk The Moon, Neon Trees, Magic Man, and Two Door Cinema Club.

    Fun!

by Effie520 on 11/20/21Blueberry Hill Duck Room - St Louis

The Duck Room is a fun venue. It feels like your friend’s cool basement. You’re close to the artists and it is a community event. Smallpools were good. I’d seen them in Chicago previously and this felt like the same concert. The venue was much more intimate and it’s always a good show.

Beautiful setlist and the performance was flawless, high energy all the way through. Both morgxn and Smallpools were extremely interactive with the crowd! Performance quality was unreal. 10/10

    Great Show!

    by K. S. on 2/28/20

I never heard of them till i went to see third eye blind in Phili. They were really good and made me an instant fan. looked them up on the ride home and couldn't believe they sound way better in concert than their recorded songs. Was really funny watching a blow up whale fly around hitting everyone in the back of the head! hope to see you guys again.

    Great Night!

by Joone on 6/7/19The Cambridge Room at House Of Blues - Dallas

The concert was great. The staff was friendly from beginning to end and things were well organized. The two opening acts were entertaining and got the enthusiastic crowd even more enthusiastic. Smallpools put on an amazing show. So much energy and so fun. The crowd sang along and jumped up and down. I think everyone had a great time. The only complaint about the House of Blues Cambridge room is that is was hotter than hell in there! I'm usually cold everywhere I go, so for me to be hot, is unusual. I was dying! Some of my friends who are usually hot everywhere they go would not have been able to stand and it and would have had to have left. Come on guys, it's Texas! Crank the AC!!

this was the best show i've ever been to—i've seen smallpools before, but this time they were somehow even better than before. the venue was perfect, intimate but not not claustrophobic. easily the most fun i've ever had at a show. i can't say enough good things, everything was perfect.

The concert was amazing. The only complaint I would have is that there was a very long break between the first and second group, and I was getting impatient waiting for everything to be set up. I think the process could have definitely been faster. The concert also didn’t start until 7:30, but it was supposed to be 7.

    Loud but AMAZING!

by SmallpoolsFan on 6/10/18Paradise Rock Club - Boston

I LOVE SMALLPOOLS! They were amazing and played almost all of my favorite songs. The opening band, Half The Animal, was good but they were a little too loud. If you're planning on going to a concert here make sure to get there early so you can stand in the front row and really see the band!

    Turn down the bass

by Anonymous on 6/7/18The Underground - Charlotte

My goodness. The sound guy must have terrible hearing. The bass was turned up wayyyyy too high for Great Good Fine Ok. We had to leave the show early with how painful it was to our ears. The sound was perfect for Half the Animal.

by Magalicious on 6/2/18The Cambridge Room at House Of Blues - Dallas

Great show. Would definitely go see them again. In fact, I hope they come back to a Dallas soon! They deserve a bigger venue but so awesome to see them up close and personal.

Showed up early got right up in front of the stage. Went deaf for days but was worth every minute ornate being deaf.
