About

SLEIGH BELLS IN CONCERT:

Noise pop duo Sleigh Bells are masters of leveraging minimal musical elements to maximum effect. Their anthemic tracks often employ little more than a hard-hitting beat, the distorted guitar work of Derek Edward Miller, and the adrenaline-filled vocals of Alexis Krauss, but despite their stripped-down makeup they always sound larger than life. From the fuzzed-out stomp of "Infinity Guitars" to the pummel-pop of "Comeback Kid", Sleigh Bells' high-energy sound is matched by their equally electrifying performances on tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Sleigh Bells, a.k.a. Alexis Krauss and Derek Edward Miller, formed in Brooklyn in 2008. They released a self-titled debut EP in 2009, and soon afterwards signed to M.I.A.'s N.E.E.T. record label for their 2010 debut full-length album Treats. The album cracked the Top 40 of the Billboard 200, propelled by considerable blog buzz and catchy singles like "Tell 'Em". A slew of high-profile festival appearances followed, including performances at Coachella, Primavera Sound, and the Pitchfork Music Festival.  Their 2012 sophomore album Reign of Terror was an even bigger success, peaking at No. 12 in the US and landing on charts throughout Europe. In 2013 Sleigh Bells released their third album Bitter Rivals to another round of critical praise, supporting the release with a 30 date US tour.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"...Sleigh Bells and Alexis Krauss are refreshingly charismatic and one of the only groups that actually knows how to put on a rock show. Their sound is stripped down but refined. Minimalist but full."

"Saw Sleigh Bells on the last show of their tour and they were incredible. Brought all the energy of their recordings times 1000."

"This was my first Sleigh Bells show and it was incredible! The crowd was so into it. I left a sweaty mess. Her voice, the beat, and the guitar?! I didn't know if I wanted to lose my mind, dance, or crowd surf."

    Sleigh Bells rawsome

    by 13245rj on 12/1/13Terminal 5 - New York

Saw Sleigh Bells on the last show of their tour and they were incredible. Brought all the energy of their recordings times 1000. Sound mixing wasn't the best, so the bass drowned out most of the intricate stuff, but the performance was unforgettable.

Dope as balls. Danny Brown is always a killer and Sleigh Bells has really stepped up it's live performance.

Most technically impressive in a midsize venue!

    by DJBThe1st on 11/27/13Terminal 5 - New York

I've seen sleigh bells twice before in Boston, and only opening for other groups. This is when the 2 original members were on stage, and that's it. Fast forward a few years later, I'm in NYC for the weekend and this show for Friday and Saturday pops up as the #1 recommended show of the weekend village voice. I can't remember the last time I was this happy after a show. Not only are they an amazing live band (this time with a live group of 4 members) and have insane stage presence but this was the best minimalist use of lighting and audio I had seen at any show at a venue this size. With earplugs in, I could still hear everything and still feel the energy. Some bands have stage presence but the audio and/or lighting setup ruins it. This was no gimmicks, only basic lights, but the synchronization was like an arena show. Oh, and did I mention that this band DESTROYS it every time?

Amazing. Such great energy from every performance especially Sleigh Bells. Alexis Krauss brought the white hot lady energy to the stage.

    Took FOREVER

    by HDTV124 on 11/25/13Terminal 5 - New York

I was so excited to see this show, and I am a big fan of Sleigh Bells, but the organization of this show was awful. They had two opening acts that each played for close to an hour, and set up in between sets took half an hour- forty five minutes. Doors opened at 8, and Sleigh Bells didn't play until 11. I'm sorry, but I'm not here to see the nameless opening acts, I'm here to see Sleigh Bells.

Great show- fun to dance to. Liked both opening acts too.

    Sleigh Bells Rock!

by Rosesrule on 11/25/13Terminal 5 - New York

Sleigh Bells quickly became one of my favorite bands after I discovered them last year. I attend a lot of concerts, but this could be the best one yet. You could feel the energy in the room. The friends I was with didn't know the band at all and left super fans. I can't wait to see them live again!

    Sleigh Bells bring it HARD

by mellowshipslinky on 11/19/13Royale Boston - Boston

I first saw Sleigh Bells when they toured as a supporting act with the Red Hot Chili Peppers last year. That was at the TD Garden in Boston, which is a massive, 12,000-person venue. It made no difference that Alexis and Derek were the only two people on stage cause they totally CRUSHED it. They were loud as hell and their distortion practically shook the place down. Now take that and scale it down to a tiny, standing-room-only theatre like the Royale. Total insanity! The addition of a drummer and another guitarist has upped the sheer force of the band as a live act, and Alexis is as energetic as ever. The crowd was really, really into it and the band could really feel the love. By far one of my favorite experiences at a show ever.

    Sleighing Bells

by WHITEYWHITEY on 11/19/13Royale Boston - Boston

Lots of energy from Sleigh Bells which just fed right into the crowd. They had a great show and sounded great at the Royal in Boston. Played a great set and came into it running on all cylinders. Great segway from just the singer and drummer into the whole band rocking back on stage. Can't wait to see them again.

    Above and beyond excellent

by Janineeno on 11/19/13Royale Boston - Boston

The show was amazing. The venue was beautiful. Things to know: coat check line gets crazy and the drinks are too expensive. Besides that - awesome.

    Alexis Krauss doesn't disappoint!

by mimicheese on 11/19/13Royale Boston - Boston

This is my second show for the Bitter Rivals tour and I had an even more awesome experience! The Royale Boston is gorgeous and so much bigger than the last venue I saw them in ft. Lauderdale. Alexis Krauss has so much energy and a front row view made the shoe even more incredible!

Great Show, BUT way too loud!!

by godinmyradio on 11/19/13Royale Boston - Boston

Hi. This is my third time seeing Sleigh Bells in Boston. Tonight's show was great. Audience was WAY into the show. My only complaint is that the volume is excessively loud. Believe me, I usually live by the "if it's too loud, your too old motto", but Damn, my ears were actually hurting! I've heard this is common for them when they play live, but this loud is unnecessary. Other than that, great show.

    Sleigh Bells came to dominate

by Warpig1983 on 11/15/13Newport Music Hall - Columbus

I enjoyed the show. The first band sounded like they had prerecorded Halloween sounds over a synthesizer. The lead singer used reverb the whole night. Not great. Sleigh Bells, on the other hand, gave a solid one hour show. They perform well live, but sound slightly different then on their album. I would see them again. Concerning any headline act at the Newport, I would recommend showing up fashionably late by an hour.

We may not get this twice.

by suzisaheadbangr on 11/13/13Newport Music Hall - Columbus

Great show. I had not seen them live before and this was well worth the drive to and from Cincinnati three times over and the teasing from my siblings since they don't like SB. It was loud, raucous and I was sore from dancing for 3 days. Great show and great party atmosphere. I plan to see them again sometime but this performance is unrepeatable!!

The band is awesome. The audience jumps around a lot. Choose your proximity to the stage accordingly.
