About

Slander in Concert

Derek Andersen and Scott Land had only been DJing for a year when they found themselves totally blown away by the grandeur of a big trance music festival in 2010. They looked at each other and vowed to make it up on a stage as big as that one someday.

Flash forward to 2018, and the pair now known as Slander have played the main stage Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas for the second year in a row — this time alongside friend and trap music star Nghtmre — underneath endless firework explosions and the famously extravagant light show of the EDC stage.

Makers of self-described "heaven trap" music, Slander's live sets follow a 75/25 rule, giving a crowd mostly hard, heavy bass, but also mixing in the melodic vibes that set them apart within the trap realm. From past Vegas club residencies to their "Gud Vibrations" quasi-fest named after their megahit, Slander always look to leave their #SlanderFam fan base with the same emotional and spiritual takeaways from the music that they felt at that party in 2010. Talk about paying it forward.

Slander Background

As EDM surged in Southern California in the late 2000s, Slander's Derek Andersen and Scott Land met in their fraternity at UC Irvine. The DJ pair found themselves with a built-in party circuit in which to enact their sets, and they became regulars on the Orange County scene.

It wasn't until they attended L.A.'s Icon Collective (an electronic music production school of sorts) that they found their calling as trap music producers and EDM remixers. Slander (the moniker is a mishmash of their names) have remixed tracks for electronic heavyweights like Jack Ü and Gorgon City, as well as pop stars like Adele and Halsey.

Slander's "heaven trap" style brings a distinct euphoric mood to conventional trap music, like on their remix of Above & Beyond's "Love Is Not Enough," as well as on their latest single, "First Time" with Seven Lions and Dabin. They've released music on Diplo's Mad Decent label and frequently play major EDM festivals from Ultra Music Fest to all geographical iterations of EDC.

  • The Eye did not disappoint

by ravemom on 1/29/20Tabernacle presented by Cricket Wireless - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

I have seen Slander five times in the past couple of years and they exceed my expectations every single time. Every time I see them they get better and better and I was completely in awe during their entire performance. If you have the chance to see them, DO NOT hesitate and BUY THOSE TICKETS.

  • Terrible Venue

by Palmer on 1/24/20House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 4 out of 5

Slander was amazing they had an amazing show, but the house of blues was the worst venue I've ever been to. I give the performance 5 stars but the house of blues gets 1 star and hope they never host there again. It wasn't built for that type of show and we were very limited on items we could bring it, but they are allowed at other venues. I highly recommend the Yuengling Center in Tampa. Illenium played here and it was so much better. I hope next time Slander comes to Florida they don't play at the house of blues.

Great show, nice venue. Great show, nice venue. Great show, nice venue.

  • Great artist but terrible ticket management

by SGoodin on 1/15/20House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 3 out of 5

I absolutely loved the concert but too many tickets were sold for this venue and it was extremely crowded.

  • Amazing experience!

by doctorvibe on 1/15/20House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

The vibe was unique, the energy from the people was so pure. The crowd control that they had over us was insane!

  • Way too cramped

    by Q. T. on 1/15/20House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 2 out of 5

The venue is way too small to hold that many people. There should be a limit of how many people can be on the standing floor to prevent overcrowding. There was a point during the set where the music and lights just stopped as well. The set itself was good, but the location honestly just ruined the whole experience for me.

  • SLANDER IS AMAZING

by Meg on 1/14/20House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

One of the best EDM concerts I have been to. I have been multiple shows for just a single artists, but this one surpassed all of them. If anyone loves edm and wants a fantastic time see SLANDER. Dylan Matthews was also amazing; his voice was like an angel. 10/10 would have gone to the show on Sunday as well if I could have.

  • Awesome!

by Devin on 1/14/20House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

House of Blues was the perfect place for this event! They should do more EDM concerts! This was my first time there and it was awesome! Had a blast and wish I could do it again! Thanks for a great night Slander!

  • An experience

by Dio on 1/13/20Tabernacle presented by Cricket Wireless - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Slander was awesome to see, if you love headbanging &/or getting hit in your feels, then this is perfect for you. The only complaint I have was the venue chosen. It was so tightly packed that it was hard to jump around and vibe.

  • Great show but venue...

by P on 1/13/20Tabernacle presented by Cricket Wireless - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

Slander doesn’t fail expectations. They never fail to put on a good show. The venue though. It was too packed and they way the personnel handled it was very unprofessional. We waited to get in the main floor since it was at capacity, but we would see people go to the front and get in while other couldn’t. While confronted about it. We were screamed at.

  • Meh

by Slanderfan on 1/13/20Tabernacle presented by Cricket Wireless - AtlantaRating: 2 out of 5

The show itself was meh. I expected so much more out of Slander. Also this venue needs more restrooms and the staff could definitely be more friendly.

  • Best show ever

by J. on 1/13/20Tabernacle presented by Cricket Wireless - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Honestly was the best show ever. The stage setup and everything was off the chart. I wish the concert lasted longer. :( Dylan Matthew singing live got the whole crowd singing with him. It was awesome.

  • Hijinx Night 2 Afterparty w/ Slander

    by C. C. on 1/2/20NOTO - PhiladelphiaRating: 3 out of 5

The space itself was really cool and we liked it a lot. The only problem we encountered was that the venue way oversold tickets. It was elbow-to-elbow and it was hard to see and enjoy the show because of it.

  • Amazing Bass

    by C. W. on 1/1/20NOTO - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

The bass was so much better here than anywhere i stood at Hijinx. It was a little over crowded, but I had a blast! Great place for an afterparty!

  • Great music, WAY too tight.

by Ed on 12/31/19NOTO - PhiladelphiaRating: 2 out of 5

My issues with this event were nothing to do with the music. The music was amazing and the way the sets flowed into eachother were great- no time wasted. However, the venue was WAY too unreasonably packed. There is no way that the amount of people that were in the venue was in compliance with the fire code. You couldn’t even walk into the crowd on the first floor, everyone was packed like sardines. It was hot and miserable and everyone looked like they were suffering on the first floor. The second floor was similar situation. However, my group then found that we could sit in one of the booths, and then the night got WAY better. The sound was very clear and very loud. But even on the second floor, it was extremely hot and sweaty. That is dangerous given the type of crowd. On the second floor it still felt unsafe, exit wise. If everyone had crowded to the exit at once, there’s NO way everyone would have been able to get out. People who host shows really need to understand that this type of thing causes extreme anxiety for people at events and it is absolutely unacceptable. If you’re going to host an after party for an event with 25,000 people, you either need to host it in a bigger venue or sell less tickets!!!!!!

  • Slander R2

by TDor on 12/31/19NOTO - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

First off, quick shout out to Wavedash who crushed it. But holy Slander Round 2 of the night. I’m pretty sure they played the same set as what was played at HIJINX but I didn’t even care bc it was just as good the second time around. This was probably the best way to keep the night going and I’m so glad I went. Can not wait to see Slander again at some point bc they kill it every time!!!

  • Great concert, cool venue

    by t. on 10/31/19Orpheum Theater - New OrleansRating: 4 out of 5

Loved the concert. Had great acts playing. Loved how the floor had a slight decline that way everybody can see. We paid nearly $100 for open bar but the lines were 30 min at every bar. Would’ve been cheaper to just buy drinks.

  • Slander was simply amazing

    by B. on 3/26/19RYSE Nightclub - St. CharlesRating: 5 out of 5

Slander has become my favorite dj duo. They are my favorite edm artists period. They are passionate performers, talented producers and they bring great energy to each performance. I have seen them play in small club venues, play red rocks amphitheater and I’ve also soon them play giant music festivals. Regardless of the setting, they are phenomenal

  • SO MUCH FUN

EACH PERFORMER WAS AWESOME! There should be nicer staff members at the Joint.
