It started to go well for Sonny when he filtered out the noise and distraction of his world as a solo artist and started mining the ephemeral moments he had been sharing with friends in clubs and parties across the city he calls home since his mid-teen years. The restless, urgent and kaleidoscopic sounds of EDM and bass music had spoken to him for the best part of a decade, one day he just started talking back.
"Making music is the same as DJing," he offers. "You continue along the path that leaves you most inspired. When you think too much you put limits on what is possible, the best parts are always instinctual rather than something too considered or planned out."
I missed the first two opening bands. But we got there in time for the rap band ASAP, and we should have just waited longer. I have no idea why there was a rap band at a dub-step show, but it was a mood killer. Skrillex brought them back out for the encore as well, so that was our que to leave. These two genres do NOT mix!

So, we got to see Skrillex do a DJ set at the Fox. The Fox is the best place to see anybody in my opinion. The sound, the atmosphere, the security, staff is the best of the best. We added a ticket to the telegraph room and that made the whole experience even more fun! I'm only giving 4 stars because it turns out Skrillex isn't a very good DJ. He's a great producer. He knows how to get the crowd hyped. But his track selection and execution is actually pretty bad. Most people didn't even notice though so for much it must not be a big deal. =) He paid tribute to Bingo players, I thought that was pretty classy!
There were supposed to be two breakbeat groups (Gta and Jack beats) in addition to skrillex, but when we showed up they were just playing Bob Marley over the system and there was no DJ. Skrillex gave a good set a good energy from 10pm to 11:55pm, but then they brought on the house lights and the show was over. Good lights and sound system. Good production, BUT WAY TOO SHORT! How are you going to charge that much money and then kick everyone out before midnight?
GTA and Jack bean were good. But Skeillex was Amazing. I would definitely see him again!! It was nonstop dancing!!! Loved it!!!!❤️❤️❤️
This was the best concert I've ever been to BY FAR. I am a huge fan of Skrillex, so I guess that could sway my opinion. However, I brought my friend who listens to indie folk and alternative music, (she is not a huge fan of electronic music) an she kept telling me during and after how amazing it was, and how it was the best concert she's ever been to. The staff were very polite and professional. Skrillex is an amazing artist and performer.
This was an absolutely fabulous show. The venue is so great. Skrillex is such a genuius!
First time at the Oakland Fox Theater. Great venue, friendly staff, easy to move about! Skrillex was awesome! Very interactive with the crowd for a dj. I loved that they played reggae in between sets. Especially some Bob Marley since his bday just passed! I can't wait to see skrillex again!!!

I bought these tickets as a birthday present for my mom (believe it or not she is a huuge fan haha). I never really was into Skrillex, I just thought it'd be sweet for her. I've been to a cool amount of shows, and up until now Justice was always untouchable for me. But WOW, I was BLOWN AWAY by how amazing Sonny's show was!! Literally was dancing the entire time. He syncs songs into each other very well, and has UNBELIEVABLE crowd energy! Of course not to mention the lights and crazy visuals he had going on as well. I am totally converted and have been listening to his songs nonstop since the end of the show. If you're into the EDM and the rave scene, I would definitely consider him a MUST SEE, hands down one of the best DJs I've ever seen. Also, he does a good job of playing new songs and old hitters. I can't wait to get a chance to see him again. :) I have such an immense amount of respect for this guy. You can tell he is having a ball up there on his set too, he was dancing and standing on his DJ and all kinds of fun stuff haha. Like I said, great crowd energy, very interactive! The place was packed and everyone was emitting good vibes. All in all it was a night neither me nor my mom will ever forget!
I was very impressed with the concert! I wish they had better people to start it out but the wait for Skrillex was WORTH IT!! Will definitely see them again in the future! Was so impressed with everything that he did I was blown away.
This show was by far the best show my husband and I have been to in years. We have attended many shows since moving to Wisconsin and Skrillex blew all if them out if the water. Can't wait to see him at larger venue!
It was a great time, mixed in new and old tunes. Also made he interacted with the crowd throughout the performance.
The first DJ was OK. I was left a little flat but the music was interesting. The normal pretending to turn knobs blah blah blah Bro Safari, the second DJ, was better. I was thinking this will be OK. Skrillex came on and it was awesome in the original sense of the term. I was literally awe struck. I was wondering if it would just be a rehash of his released tunes. There was enough of the original for you to go "oh yeah". The rest a total onslaught of newness. It was totally worth it
This show was incredible! First part was Victor Kahn and 2nd part Bro Safari, they did a very good job preparing us for Skrillex, video, lights, smoke etc! Awesome party :) !!! I will remember it forever!!
Skrillex makes sure his shows are perfect and you feel a part of something special!!! He brings a personal touch to every show. He made the audience feel special, he gave ups to those who brought signs or dressed up and entire audience sang "Happy Birthday" to a girl. He is brilliant and has a brilliant crew who makes sure everything is perfect for you. If you get a chance and he is near you it is worth the distance to travel to see him. Huge UPs to the super awesome people of Madison WI too!!
Amazing show! Perfect Venue! Sound and Light systems were on point.
My son went and he said it was the best show that he has ever been to.it's almost been a week and still has not stopped talking about it.
If you ever have a chance to see Skrillex live, do it!
