    Room for improvement

by Barbara on 2/25/23WinSport Event Centre - Calgary

Love this venue and cafe is great for eating between events. But the in and out scanning was a nuisance when we were not leaving the venue. Also the ticket price was a lot given that there were only three disciplines in syncro. Parents and teams have spent a lot of money to travel and stay in the city for the event so it would have been more appropriate to have a more responsible ticket price.

Venue Great - cost doesn't support amateur skating

by National Skating watcher on 2/24/23WinSport Event Centre - Calgary

Ticket prices of $50 per person does not encourage a family to bring their children to watch skating at this National level. Is that Ticket master's minimum price it charges the organization to use their service? No one was there other than the skaters and their direct supporters - Disappointing when national events are hosted in Calgary that showcase the next level of skating to a younger generation.

Fantastic event. Enjoyed the ice dance performances in particular. Inspiring and breathtaking. Would definitely do this again.

    Phenomenal!

by Mariya on 11/3/21UBC - Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre - Vancouver

The exhibition gala was my first time attending a figure skating event, and it was more than I expected! The figure skaters clearly love what they do, and the lyrical performances spaced out my fun wacky ones were in such an order that I never knew what was coming & never got bored!

    great event - very cold

by Irina on 11/3/21UBC - Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre - Vancouver

The arena was extremely cold. We went to Skate America is Vegas and it was better there in terms of spectator comfort. The seats were not well arranged - the whole main side of the rink was closed, front seats were also closed, so the sitting was not very close, nor comfortable. The arena is just not fit for the international events where the biggest world stars arrive. The food/drinks were not accessible because of huge lines, never had anything to drink or eat for 9 hours. It appeared that Canada skating union spent no money to organize the event - it appeared poor, bare bones. The first event was Skate America in Vegas and it was spectacular compared to this. It looked like Canada Skating union was arranging a local meet in a barn not an international major competition. Canada has to invest more funds to promote the sport and to attract foreign stars and spectators. You can do better with some sponsors, local government support and just more imagination and hard work. The competition itself was breathtaking and foreign athletes who came did well. I drove from the States to just see the best skaters in the world - it was worth it for me. Kamila and Nathan will be our Oly champions soon and I now saw them skate. Once in a lifetime experience.

    Improve your food services!

by Guillermo Castillo on 11/2/21UBC - Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre - Vancouver

The event was amazing. Nevertheless, for the price I paid, you can improve the food. You do not want to stay in one place for 8 hours and only have access to junk food. Besides this, you can also give a booklet with the event highlights.

    Avoidable disrespect and risk

by Bevy on 11/1/21UBC - Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre - Vancouver

It was wonderful to have the opportunity to see live figure skating again. I had some anxiety about being in an arena despite precautions for Covid like the requirement of vaccine passports and masks. O On the first day the row in front and behind me were both empty. But quickly people started coming down to the seats closer to the ice. By Saturday a large group of 9, including 4 children too young to be vaccinated, had taken over the row behind me. Not only did this make me feel nervous, being so close to unvaccinated children, but the adults and children chatted through much of the performances. It really spoiled the experience for me. In future, I would recommend you pay more attention to who is sitting in seats, particularly if they were originally left clear for health purposes. And, of course, these people were taking advantage of better seats than they paid for. It would seem like common courtesy to be quiet during the performances. Skaters have sacrificed a lot to give their best and deserve respectful attention, while spectators need the same respect. Thank you.

great to be back to a live event

by Alexandra on 11/1/21UBC - Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre - Vancouver

Tickets went on sale at the last minute due to uncertainties over health restrictions, but the organization worked out great! The health check at the entrance was efficient, and the seating was excellent for a very reasonable ticket price. The event itself was wonderful, with numerous outstanding and memorable performances from the lowest ranked skaters to the highest. Concessions also moved efficiently. I'm so glad Skate Canada was able to get spectators into this event. Great job by all!

    Great event!

by astinus1 on 1/17/18UBC - Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre - Vancouver

We had a great time at the event. The only drawback was the WiFi was not up to speed for videos, which we were hoping would keep our 4 year old from getting too bored. Despite free WiFi, bring offline video content to this venue and you're set!

    Antique Music and cheap tricks.

by abeleh on 11/2/16Hershey Centre - Mississauga

Was it worth siting through 2 1/2 hours of Mickey Mouse performances to see only 2 excellent short pieces. A loud No!

    Intermission was sub-standard.

by abeleh on 11/1/16Hershey Centre - Mississauga

Loved most of the performances. Drives me crazy that most of the Russian, Japanese and other eastern skaters use western music while the westerners do not. Hershey Centre is a good venue except for the poor food choices that ignore our multi-cultural society and promote unhealthy choices (if any).

    Wonderful

by calit on 1/28/13Hershey Centre - Mississauga

I am a skating fan who lives in the US near the Canadian border and attend events in both countries. This was my fourth Canadians. It is such a good value for the entertainment that you get. By contrast, the Worlds in London Ontario are 10 times the price. Other skating fans I talked to said they would not pay $1100 and up for Worlds tickets. These were $175!
