    Rockestra = Outstanding

by Petepriciple on 4/22/13Orpheum Theatre Sioux City - Sioux City

The energy level was tremendous. A commitment to quality entertainment at this level of achievement is a rare thing to see. The variety of music included something for everyone and was performed with terrific enthusiasm and professionalism. The bonus is that it includes young people as well as seasoned pros. What an opportunity !!! If you haven't experienced "Rockestra", you need to add it to your bucket list.

    wild thing was tame

by oldiesfantoo on 4/22/13Orpheum Theatre Sioux City - Sioux City

We enjoy the "oldies" rock and roll more than the screaming vocalists and hard guitars, though we can appreciate the talent of Sam Sr., Sam Jr and Jason Ellsworth. The vocalists were at times overpowered by the orchestra; we could not understand the words of some songs. We most enjoy Kevin Keane, Doug Davis, Jon Clay and Blake Meacham. Anna Grote was good, too. The orchestra looked uninvolved this time, very flat facial affect. Were they having fun? I'm not sure.

    Rockestra was a fun evening!

by pajowi on 2/4/13Orpheum Theatre Sioux City - Sioux City

I had never seen rockestra before but had heard good things. The solo artists were impressive but the string section was hard to hear. I like strings but the balance was a bit off. Great choice of songs. They were just a little rough around the edges.

    Rockestra was great!!

by psallen on 2/4/13Orpheum Theatre Sioux City - Sioux City

Would go again, was a great show. It could maybe start a half hour earlier to encourage more families to attend. Great for a family to attend. Loves the choices of songs

    Rockestra was unforgettable!

by JeffH228 on 2/4/13Orpheum Theatre Sioux City - Sioux City

Great vocals, guitars, percussion, stings, and horns? How could you go wrong? Rockestra is a must see regardless of what your musical tastes are. Looking forward to going 'Wild' in April!

The Rockestra concert was amazing! I loved all the music both vocal and instrumental. Kevin's rendition of O Holy Night was absolutely fantastic!

    Rockestra Xmas Concert was spectacular!

by Mmcm712 on 12/3/12Orpheum Theatre Sioux City - Sioux City

What a surprise to hear this level of quality from local talent. The show out-shined touring company shows we've seen previously at the Orpheum. From the guys and gals belting out song after song to the rich tones of a mellow saxophone this show really "rocked"! Our expectations were far exceeded! We were especially impressed with the variety of performers and arrangements, as well as, the level of professionalism presented. Way to go Siouxland!

I think the concert started kind of slow in my opionion, but it got better and better as it went on.. :) I think John Luebke talks to much and he really should leave politics out of the mix! That started to turn me off on the whole thing, but like I said, the concert started to get a lot better after that. All the singers were fantastic, and also all of the musicians. This is our first time here, we have talked about it and finally went and glad we did !

    LOVE IT!!!!!

by Stormy777 on 2/28/12Sioux City Orpheum - Sioux City

I am very much looking forward to the Best Of Countdown Show in April!!! Rockestra is so full of local talent!! If you haven't been to a show you're really missing out!!! The Amy's are amazing and Doug Davis is an excellent addition!!! He's a star!!! Aaron is really missed this year and it shows...I think the addition of the younger singers wasn't the best idea. Kevin (funeral singer) is a wonderful soloist and, believe it or not, I actually like listening to John Luebke tell his jokes. He isn't always funny, but he still makes me chuckle! Stephanie, on the other hand, I usually cannot understand. The Facebook voting for the next show was a fun idea, although the polls seem flawed. I voted, though, and am looking forward to seeing if my choices made the cut!! Keep on Rocking, Rockstra!!!!!!

    Rockestra-Planes Trains, and Automobiles

by Daphnia on 2/6/12Orpheum Theatre Sioux City - Sioux City

This may have been the "best Rockestra" yet! We loved the "set list" of songs. The singers were excellent. The musicians were "super", and we can't wait for the next Rockestra show. We're anxiously anticipating the "Best of Rockestra" on April 21. Rockestra has lots of very talented musicians and singers. It is a wonderful production

    Funeral Guy was the Star

by MusicFan324 on 2/6/12Orpheum Theatre Sioux City - Sioux City

It was my first time to see this show and was disappointed. From all the previous reviews and hype, I expected to see crowd on their feet and dancing in the aisles. The crowd was only moved during a version of Bridge over Troubled water. Jonny Cash set was also good. Lead female does good for a bar band but other females were weak and could not even hear them over instrumental. Mr. Irish needs to keep playing bass. He would not make the list at a good Karokee bar.

    Rockestra Christmas

by sunnywithrain on 12/18/11Orpheum Theatre Sioux City - Sioux City

Rockestra needs to work with their sound crew - and their enunciation for their singers. The orchestra overpowers lots of the singers and the words are not distinguishable. The more powerful voices are great! It seems that there is only one volume some times for the orchestra - FFF! Some of the numbers were star-quality - others just mediocre. I felt sorry for the guy who had to sing after Kevin Keene got a standing ovation. He was probably very good, but did not compare in any way to Kevin's voice.

John Luebke diaglogue ruined the show and we left at intermission. Amy and Kevin did a nice job with The Christmas Prayer. I bought the tickets to determine if I was buying a season pass. The answer is No.

    Beatles

by beatlesmainia on 11/7/11Orpheum Theatre Sioux City - Sioux City

I love the rockestra combination. There was a few too many mistakes this time and I know they are trying to mix it up with the the chello solo and the jazz singers. I did not care for Michael Luebke's singing at all, he was all to full of himself. The person that went with me said the same thing. I always love Opera Lady and the rest of the singers did an awesome job. Kevin Keane was great.

Rockestra needs to step it up.

by luvtheorpheum on 11/7/11Orpheum Theatre Sioux City - Sioux City

I have been to several of their concerts and this one appeared to be a bit too casual. They are not putting enough effort into entertaining the audience. Good seats are not inexpensive and I believe we deserve more. Random warderobes, forgotten lyrics, silly dance routines - in addition to a couple of off performances did not do it for me this time. I loved the music and there is so much talent to enjoy - I hope they step it up because I have enjoyed their concerts very much in past years. The volume was just right this time - not too loud but loud enough. Amy Ellsworth - thank you for coming to perform. I appreciated your efforts in both performances and wardrobe. I also very much enjoyed the West High Jazz Group and the 'Funeral Singer' - great talent all around.
