Sinead was great - same voice, same character. Concert was only 80 minutes long though. Too short being home and free at 9 on a Saturday night, really?

    Sinead ROCKS!

by Woofer720 on 3/23/12Highline Ballroom - New York

This gal can't be stopped! Every word, every tone, every song, has something that can't be compared (2 U... sorry, Sinead!). Have seen her about 4 times in the last 10 years, from Seattle to NYC, and How About I Be Me? outdoes what I thought her best - Faith & Courage. You ended the show at Highline on 02/24 saying, "I'll be back in May... and remember - Twitter rhymes with sh**ter". Well, love, when in May?

    Sinead ROCKS!

by Woofer720 on 3/23/12Highline Ballroom - New York

this gal has more talent, courage, and voice range than any artist out there (man or woman)! Her talent is only out ranged by her courage; you can see Bono or any other top 10 performer and NEVER leave with the spiritual lift and expeirience after seeing Sinead O'Connor!

    Sinead still rocks!

by Mbalmelli on 3/5/12El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

I have been a fan since I was 15 years old. I saw her back in 1991 at the international amnesty concert in chile, and she was amazing. Now I saw a less angry Sinead who can still sing from the heart with her beautiful voice. It was a great night! And I can't wait to see her again!

    Rock Legend Sinead O'Connor 2012

by Okiva on 3/2/12El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

There is so much more to Sinead O'Connor than her timeless rendition of Nothing Compares 2 U. People who like rock, folk, blues, soul, or pop--Sinead's powerful pipes servce a multitude of genres well. This show was was in support of 2012's How About I Be Me (and You Be You)?, and it was just fukn stunning. If you've got any familiarity with her, you could place the 2012 album in between 1987's The Lion and the Cobra and 1990's I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got, in terms of raw power and presentation. She's most always better live, and this show was no exception. She sang Jackie! She was giddy, excited to be there, joked around with the audience, and brought the house down. If you're a fan of music, singing, and songwriting, but you don't consider yourself a fan of Sinead because you only know her Prince cover, you need to stop being a fukn poser, seek outside the box and remember what it really means to be a singer songwriter.

2nd Night with an Irish Treasure

by Ocram on 2/29/12El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

I went to both Sinead shows at the El Rey, though my wife stayed home for this one. I managed to get a great spot on the floor, and was probably about 30 feet away from her. While some idiots near me had to be thrown out for being too drunk and trying to mosh (really?), the amazing thing for me this second night was feeling the sheer power of O'Connor's voice. It's a full-fledged hurricane at its peak, and can become nothing more than a soft whisper -- sometimes during the same song! The setlist was a bit shorter this night, but I thought the band sounded better. (BTW, Sinead recruited Robbie MacIntosh for guitar duties, who is a Pretenders alumnus. I always say, "artists know artists"). Anyway, read my review from night one -- Sinead O'Connor is an Irish Treasure not to be missed.

Simply One of the Best Female Vocalists EVER

by Ocram on 2/29/12El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

Sinead's highly anticipated two night run at the El Rey Theater started off with a bang. If there was ever any doubt about her vocal prowess -- given all the media sensationalism that surrounds her (much of it self-inflicted) -- put it to rest. She was incredible. As were her new tunes from the excellent "How About I Be Me (And You Be You)" 2012 release. I can't say this about many artists, but I will go and see Sinead anytime she comes to town. Her a cappella version of "I Am Stretched On Your Grave" was worth the price of admission (and the extra charge for an upstairs table) alone. I heart her! Her band was pretty great too, though I think they were all having monitor problems. Didn't matter...Sinead can sing over the instruments like no one I've ever heard. Sinead also seemed to be enjoying herself, judging by her banter in-between songs.

I LOVED IT SO MUCH I WENT FOR SECONDS!!!

by DamnedPoet on 2/23/12El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

I'm a hardcore fan of Sinéad. I went to the first concert on Monday and despite the fact that I was tired as hell I had to go again. It was the first time I saw her live and it was everything I expected. I must say that the first concert was better but maybe just because she spoke more between songs. I'm so in love with her. I pre-bought the album, so I didn't have it until that night, but I was listening to the free preview on npr the whole weekend before (at least 5 times), so by the first concert I already had learned most of the lyrics of her new songs. My only disappointment is that she didn't say anything politically incorrect. I wanted her to bash the pope and go pro-gay marriage.

    forget coldplay

by bayne on 2/23/12El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

Sinead started out pretty strong and then trailed off from there. Her voice is still quite strong but she didn't sound like she was really in this concert. When she sang "Three Babies" she missed the note at a key part of the song. She even commented, "I really fucked up that one". Her band was great, but she didn't have them do much. Nobody even took a solo except the keyboad player and his was on the flute. The drummer was behind a plexiglas box and he sounded like he was behind a plexiglass box. There were moments that were truly magical, but overall this concert felt flat. I still enjoyed myself, but I think Sinead is capable of blowing us all away if she really wants to. Maybe next time.

    Nothing compares to Sinead

by GayFrank on 2/23/12El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

First time to see Sinead after having followed her career for 25 years. She didn't disappoint as she and her band blasted through her catalog of songs. Some were quiet, poetic. Others rocked! Her voice was pure and strong. Although shy, she showed glimpses of humor as she chatted in between songs. Wish she toured more often. (Annie Lennox, you too!)

    SINEAD O'CONNER

by ARCHEMIDES on 2/23/12El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

SHE WAS NOTHING LIKE WHAT I EXPECTED! I ONLY KNOW THREE SONGS BY HER- SHE PLAYED ONE OF THEM. THE REST WAS AN EYE- OPENING EXPERIENCE. SHE IS NOT THE CHICK-FLICK BALLADEER I THOUGHT SHE WAS. A TRULY GREAT MUSICIAN!

Amazing, magical. Sinéad sounds fabulous just as she did 20 years ago. Seeing her, listening to her brought back tears. I loved her and was happy to have seen her again

    Amazing

by TheOriginalButterlove on 2/22/12El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

She was amazing. One of the best voices of all time, and a great performance. She was really feeling the crowd, who loved her. She sang so hard, she seemed a bit raspy talking and singing the following night. I mean, anyone who can sing acapella with this intensity and artistry and then do a boot stomping zydeco inspired song next.....not to be missed. She covered the hits, sang some amazing new songs of her latest album and hit some classic folk songs as well. A very well thought out set list. And her band was amaing. She's lost all the weight and looked great as well.

Monday night show at El Rey

by designafficionado on 2/22/12El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

Sinead looked and sounded great, but my one disappointment is that she largely ignored her first album did nothing from Am I Not Your Girl and then did only one thing from Universal Mother. I would recommend only if you've never seen her before. Otherwise there were no big surprises.
