Great venue. Great show. Highly recommended Birchmere, Lindsay Lou and Sierra Hull.
IBMA 2022 Mandolin Player of the Year. Amazing show at The Birchmere. Wonderful human being. Wish she was my sister.
Sierra entertains as masterfully as she plays and her presence on stage is effortless. I’ve heard her play multiple times, including with Béla Fleck, in the last few years and she’s incredibly comfortable engaging with the audience while nailing every awesome passage in the music. LOVED her boots and the guys she played with. Can’t wait for the next opportunity to watch and hear her play. Kudos Sierra!
Sierra Hull’s performance was fantastic! She has such stage presence! Her band was too notch! Lindsey Lou was also amazing!
Sierra Hull has truly come into her own special territory with her playing, singing and band leadership. It’s hotter than a $2 pistol on a Saturday night—catch her show and get in the groove. She and her band mates truly live on top of the beat and they are fabulous!
First of all, Mercury Lounge is a great place to see/hear music. Sierra was particularly animated for this show and, as always, masterful in her playing. She is just so fluid, whether it's slower tunes or really driving ones. Despite a probably grueling touring schedule, Sierra seems genuinely thrilled to be playing and really enjoys interaction with the audience and the band. Every member of the band was impressive. As a saxophone and mandolin player, I love the jazz-like improvisation and interplay between Sierra and her band members whenever I hear her play. Sierra Hull is one of the few artists I would travel to see (along with Chris Thile/Punch Brothers, Watkins Family Hour, Sam Bush) and I will find a way to see/hear her every time she comes to New York.
My brother and I were a little dismayed when we saw that there were only a few seats on the sides of the venue and people are expected to stand for the entire concert. Generally at Bluegrass concerts seating is the norm…it’s not really dance music or a rock concert. Anyway we stood near the lounge chairs so we could see the stage. Sierra Hull and her band were fantastic. Tickets were reasonably priced for NYC. Her performance was amazing. What talent she displayed along with the excellent singers and pickers in her band.
Great venue. Great music. Musicians were the best!
I spent a delightful evening listening to some high-grade music and enjoying a great meal at the Birchmere. Sierra Hull with Noam Pikelny and Stuart Duncan were fabulous. The last time I heard Sierra, she was a young teenager. Since then her outstanding mandolin playing and beautiful voice have both matured into a very professional sound. Along with her excellent band, Sierra put on a wonderful show! However, my favorite part of the evening was listening to Noam Pikelny and Stuart Duncan do a marvelous Banjo/Fiddle set to open up the show. They are some of the finest musicians at their craft and demonstrated that on every song!
Had hoped the three of them were playing TOGETHER, per the way the show was billed. Instead, got Sierra Hull and a saxophone player. Nuff said. GREAT venue, though!!
Took my family to see Sierra Hull in ponta vedra FL. Paid the higher rate to sit 3rd row and glad we did. She is so talented, amazing mandolin playing crisp vocals and musicianship. Her bass player and her together make a very simple and powerful duo. I also liked her opener phoebe who played the fiddle. They were both kind enough to visit with us after the show for pictures and autographs! The venue was very nice with excellent sound. If she comes to your town go see her.
Mrs. Hunt, Seirra and the bass player are amazing musicians. The ladies voices were beautiful. But omg stop talking! I could careless about your 10 day trip to meditate. I did not come to hear about your walk on the beach. Just give a SHORT lead into a song and play. I could careless where you were, who was with you and how you wrote the song... Jesus, just play. Also, become more professional and put together a cohesive program... and add a full band. You can still stay out front. Loose Bach! Finally, I was embarrassed for the 2 drunks in the audience. Almost left. The ushers SHOULD have done there jobs and removed those guys. One at the front kept screaming “”Freebird” and other random words that he thought was going to be funny. The other guy in the back just could not stop screaming “whoa” and “woooo” like he was trying to leave his guts on the floor. Everyone in front of that drunk had to go to the bathroom and comb their hair back down before leaving. Where were the ushers Ponte Vedra Concert Hall??? They are supposed to do more than sit in on a free show. Retirees volunteering should only be picked to work these shows IF they are capable of performing the job.
We saw Sierra in Ponte Vedra, Fl and was amazed at her talent. Amazing mandolin player and gifted singer. I would definitely recommend seeing her to a friend.
Such a crisp and clean voice. Such authentic lyrics and an incredible musician. Any bluegrass or folk enthusiast would thoroughly enjoy this show!
Sierra put on a fantastic show. Showing off her talent and connecting with the crowd in a way few artist can.
She was awesome and so talented!!! I met her when she was so little and she was talented then, she has come a long way!!!
Sierra Hull and her band were fabulous. So talented, confident, humble & engaging! They packed a lot of amazing music, both instrumentally & vocally, in their well-paced performance. The audience was captivated! I'd recommend her, & her great band, to any one who appreciates hi-quality contemporary bluegrass w/ a swinging, almost jazzy feel. Encore!
What a beautiful setting for a show, Akron Civic Theatre, one of the classic Loew's is an awesome place. It was the perfect backdrop for Sierra Hull. She put on a great show along with her band. They were really into the music and the interaction with the audience was great. Too bad more people didn't attend. For $20.00 they would've had a great time.
Loved the show. Great opening act. They were very funny and talented. Sierra was great - she'll be the next big thing in bluegrass I'm sure. Overall wonderful show. Even the MC was exciting.
