Was great to see them perform in such an amazing venue!
The ONLY negative was Lou Christie's crassness. OK, now that that is out of the way, I'll add that my wife and I really enjoyed all the acts, especially Kathy Young, the Vogues, the Tokens, and S.A. Reeves. We liked them so much that afterward we booked, then went to see the Akron, Ohio show on 2 June. (So are we becoming "Doo-Wop groupies"?) The biggest (and most pleasant) surprise had to be the diversity of The Tokens. Forget the fact they still sound superb on "The Lions Sleeps Tonight"; how about all the other tunes they performed, like those they produced, and Jay Traynor singing his "She Cried"? And their stories and those of the other acts. Now THAT's entertainment! So will they be back next year?
This event was not a Doo-Wop show (as was advertised). Had it been called a Pop/Rock? Doo-Wop then I would have better things to say. But to call it a Doo-Wop show was less than honest, in my opinion. Probably would not have attended had I known the list of acts in attendance.
