BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Shawn Mendes was born in a Toronto suburb of Pickering in 1998. In 2013 he began posting cover snippets to video sharing site Vine, and within a few months he had amassed millions of followers who praised his prodigious vocal talents and boyish good looks. In early 2014 he won Ryan Seacrest's "Best 35 Covers" competition with his moving rendition of A Great Big World's single "Say Something", gaining exposure to countless new fans. Several months later his debut single "Life of the Party" landed at No. 24 on the Billboard Hot 100, making him the youngest artist ever to score a Top 25 hit on the chart. A precocious young talent with big things on the horizon, Mendes will continue to build his ever-growing fanbase on tour with Austin Mahone in summer 2014.

by Anonymous on 11/21/14hopefully soon - Readingi was lucky enough to have the chance of seeing Shawn's fame grow along with his voice develop. I followed him on vine when he had about like 10k. This is so crazy that a boy from a social media site could be making it big now. I am so lucky that i got to see his fame grow. he has so much talent whether it is in his lyrics or his vocals, he is an overall great artist and i would recommend his music to anyone in a heart beat. my best wishes to Shawn and his career, and i hope everyone enjoys his music as much as i do.
