SHA NA NA IN CONCERT:
Sha Na Na have been paying homage to the golden age of rock and roll since the late '60s, sparking a full-blown '50s revival with the throwback greaser image they presented to the world in 1969 at their legendary Woodstock appearance. Their pompadours may have gone white over the years, but these guys still know how to rock, taking the stage in greaser-inspired costumes and tearing through early rock classics with a showmanship that would make Elvis proud. On tour in 2014, the band will treat fans to their classic hits as well as their beloved contributions to the Grease film soundtrack at the Hollywood Bowl's annual Grease Sing-A-Long.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Formed in the late '60s by a group of a cappella singers from New York's Columbia University, Sha Na Na's retro-rock leanings contrasted with the hippie counterculture movement prevalent at the time. The band received some early exposure opening for the Grateful Dead and the Kinks, but it was their 1969 set at Woodstock that really put them on the map. That performance, and its subsequent inclusion in the widely distributed Woodstock documentary, set off a veritable '50s revival craze, inspiring countless other bands and planting the seeds for wildly popular productions like Grease and Happy Days. The band's appearance in the Grease film adaptation, along with their contributions to the soundtrack, further fueled their fame, cementing a legacy that continues to draw hordes of fans to their electric live shows.

It was a great trip down memory lane. They put on an amazing show. Researched them afterwards and was saddened to find that several of the original members had passed. Regardless, they were well worth seeing.
Loved the music and all of the old songs. Enjoyed the interaction with the audience, the stories, and the funny skits.
The performance was outstanding. They had the audience rocking thruout the entire show So happy that I didn't miss it.
The event started out a bit slow. After the intermission they picked up the tempo and rocked. I was disappointed that Santini and Bowzer and some other big names weren't there. Still a pretty good show.
This was my first Grease Sing-A-Long experience, and it was a very memorable one. I went with three friends, and we all had a complete blast. Sha Na Na sounded incredible, and they were so great interacting with the crowd. The real Frenchy, DiDi Con, hosted the show, and she too was phenomenal! Each guest received a pink bag full of movie related goodies to use during the viewing of the show too. For any Grease fan, this show is a MUST :)
Where have I been this whole time? I can't believe this was my First time! It won't be my last!!! I ALREADY HAVE IT FOR NEXT YEAR!!
Fun, fun, fun! This is a wonderfully interactive event for family and friends. I would definitely do this again. Yay! ;o)
This was my first time going to this event and we are definitely going to be making this an annual tradition. It was so much fun to be at the Hollywood Bowl dressed up in my 50's garb with a bunch of other Grease aficionados and fans who love the movie just as much as I do. Having Frenchie (Didi Conn) and Sha Na Na open up the show made it feel like you were actually there. Then to get a surprise visit from Jan (Brusha brusha brusha) was cool. I will definitely be doing this again and again. There is just nothing like hearing thousands of voices singing harmoniously together to "Summer Lovin" and "Greased Lightning" in the Hollywood Bowl. To say I had a blast wouldn't be sufficient
Sha na na was great! All these years later and they are still in great form!! Dee Dee "Frenchy" was a nice treat for the audience as well as her bubble gum. The sing-a-long movie was very enjoyable and finding out that the song "Sandy" was actually written by one of Sha na na's lead singers was a real surprise-especially when he sang it for the audience!! Greas came out in 1978 but it is still the word!!
Grease sing a long was a blast. Plan to do it again next year.
The Sing Along showing was amazing. It's my 3rd year and it's more enjoyable every year. It's a must go to in order to let out your inner Sandy or Danny!
What can I say.... this was the best sing along ever! This was my third time seeing Grease at the Bowl and it was fantastic. This was the most interactive crowd I've seen here thus far. Wonderful event and a must see if you've never been to the Hollywood Bowl.
The movie is timeless and classic. The songs are fun to sing along with. Don't miss the opportunity to join 16,000 of your closest friends in the biggest "drive in" in the world. If you are old enough to remember Grease in its original run, you'll love watching and singing again and again. We brought kids who only know it from revivals or have seen it on DVD. They still get a kick out of the songs and sang along with abandon. Given all the men and women who were dressed up, it was like going to the "clean" version of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Sha Na Na opened with a 45 minute set of great '50s and early '60s covers which set the right mood.
It was a fun night being at the Bowl on a summer night. The sing along was fun too. I paid 60 per ticket for my family. I thought it's overpriced.i had mediocre seats.
Grease sing a long was so much fun for everyone. Sha Na Na concert before the movie started was great and introduced my children to 50's music. There was a ton of audience participation and a large majority dressed up for the event as well.
The pre-show with Sha Na Na was fantastic but the highlight was the Grease Sing A Long. It was great how everyone participated and a lot of people dressed up as Pink Ladies and T-Birds. Absolutely Love It! To watch the movie on the big screen was great!
Great show! Brought the family for a fun summer activity. Everyone had a great time. The host and the opening band were fantastic. I would highly recommend it if you like the movie Grease.
Had a blast at the Grease-Sing-Along! It was so much fun with over 12,000 people singing all the songs. Sha Na Na was great and Frenchie was a hoot as the host of the event. Can't wait for next year to do it all again!

This is one of the most fun events of my year and I wouldn't miss it for anything. I don't care how much fun my friends make of me!
