About

Atlanta’s Sevendust is a metal band that perfectly melds thrash, classic metal, southern rock and soul together into a beautifully balanced yet brutally heavy modern metal mix. The quintet of Morgan Rose (drums), Vince Hornsby (bass), guitarists John Connolly and Clint Lowery (who rejoined the band in 2008) and frontman Lajon Witherspoon, released their ninth studio album, "Black Out The Sun," in 2013. The album hit the Billboard 200 charts at No. 18 and the Top Hard Music Albums Chart at No. 1. Hailed as a return to where it all began, "Black Out The Sun" has been compared to "Animosity" (2001), one of their most popular albums and the third studio album they released after forming in 1994. It also produced Sevendust’s Top Ten single, "Decay," which continues to grace playlists across the globe.

Boasting driving drums, smooth yet deep bass, heavy and melodic guitars and sweeping vocal melodies, Sevendust is possibly best known for their brutally energetic live performances. Fan favorite, Lajon Witherspoon, captures the crowd's attention early and never let’s go. It is evident from his huge smile that he loves what he is doing, and fans leave Sevendust concerts feeling loved by the band. The diversity and genuine talent of Sevendust shines through their live performances, which often include acoustic versions of their songs. However, the intensity never wanes, and the pits are as aggressive as any that bands like Lamb of God or Hatebreed can produce. Sevendust fans will always vie for tickets whenever Sevendust comes to their city.

After finishing headlining the From Death to Destiny Tour, with Asking Alexandria, All That Remains, For Today and Emmure, Sevendust plan to begin recording their first studio acoustic album. Fans and critics alike clearly see that Sevendust is a band that has it all and never disappoints.

The fans of Sevendust are like no other. The whole place has this amazing energy. The entire band interacts with the audience, their energy is amazing. Sevendust rocked it!

by Telma on 9/21/09Masquerade - Atlanta

The first opener, Dixie, was electric. Amazing. Knee deep wasn't really my thing (the only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars), but the energy was good. Sevendust was absolutely wonderful. The Masquerade is such a GREAT place to see shows, big enough for a crowd, but small enough that you always feel like you're onstage! I had a great time.

by intoxicated on 9/21/09Masquerade - Atlanta

Sevendust was so awesome! The crowd was so pumped and they just rocked! I would definitely recommend this event to a friend. The two opening acts were awesome too. I would pay again to see both of them.

This IS Awesome!!!! 7Dust, 20 years of Masquerade

by blackrobakarlt on 9/20/09Masquerade - Atlanta

This was an Awesome show even the acts leading up to the band were good. I got to hear Tool- Stinkfist Acoustic. The Only way the show could have been better is if they would have stayed on stage longer.

Sevendust was great... the others, so so.

    by Twitch311 on 9/20/09Masquerade - Atlanta

I usually have a great time at this venue, but the lighting was awful for this show. The first act was a solo guy and his guitar. The second band; hell I couldn't even see their faces. Between being blinded by the lights behind the band, they almost had no lights shining on the artists. Pretty sad.

    Great performance

    by Shatter84 on 9/20/09Masquerade - Atlanta

This would be my 3rd time seeing Sevendust live, but my first seeing them as the headliner of the night. They did not disappoint at all. They played songs from their older albums as well as newer ones, and kept the crown involved the entire show. Sevendust is renowned for being exceptionally thankful to their fans and they absolutely showed that appreciation at this show.

    Sevendust rocked The Masquerade!

    by Sunrise1119 on 9/20/09Masquerade - Atlanta

Sevendust was awesome once they finally got on the stage. They were energetic, excited to be there and got a lot of crowd participation. The crowd was one vibrating ball of energy. The air crackled with electricity. It was awesome. I didnt like the fact that we were told by management that they didnt want us take pictures. We pay to see them perform and would like memories from the concert. I can understand videos but pictures. Unfortunately because they took so long to come out I wasn't able to stay for the entire set. I love them anyway. They seem to be great guys off stage as well.,

    Good but not great

by Luckyou on 8/24/09Nuttys North - Sioux Falls

So I drove 4 hours to go to the Sevendust concert and it had some great opening bands so I was pretty excited about that so I figured that since Sevendust was the main event that the show would be unforgettable, but I really wasnt that impressed. They played some good songs but most of them were not their "hits." Then suprisingly they didnt even play that long! $70.00 for tickets, I figured they would have at least played an hour. Theyn played a half hour tops! Then to make things worse, I guess Sevendust was not happy that the crowd was taking video and pictures of the concert and this was not relayed to the fans at all! No signs were posted and nothing was ever said until they started confiscating peoples phones and cameras. So I thought to myself, "ok, no big deal. If they dont want unauthorized video out there, ok" but why take a select few peoples cameras and not EVERYONE there. I mean, why should only a few have to deal with their stuff being taken. So then I waited in the cold for 2 hours after the show while they "attempted" to find the box of cameras... long story short, I drove 4 hours home with no camera!!!! UGH. Definately not the most memorable concert ever.

    Sevendust at the Fuel Room

by Rein on 8/21/09The Fuel Room at Austin's Saloon and Eatery - Libertyville

Let's start at the top of the ballot. Janus played a solid set. Although I was unfamiliar with their material other than 'Eyesore' which has been heard on the radio, they definitely served their purpose as the warm-up band. Some members of my group are of the opinion that the lead singer's vocals do not match the rest of the group, but I liken them to a more alternative version of Chevelle. Their lead singer does have some strange show mannerisms, but everyone is different. These guys are up and coming and it will be interesting to see what happens. Dirge Within without a doubt increased the intensity. They brought the heavy metal to Austin's Fuel room and the crowd was extremely receptive to them. Another band whose material I am not entirely familiar with, but they were rocking hard and their frontman knows how to put on a show and get the crowd going. Sevendust simply tore the roof off. They played a sick setlist of old material as well as new material and announced (probably not for the first time) that they are working on their 8th album. In such an intimate venue as Austin's Fuel Room, the sound of LJ and the crowd singing Angel's Son, Bitch and others was deafening the way metal should be. The guys of Sevendust were having a great time on stage. Morgan was throwing sticks into the crowd simultaneously as members of the crowd would throw sticks back at him. It became a game they played all show. During their encore, because Morgan had recently been playing with Motley Crue, the band joking surprised him with Kickstart My Heart. They also jammed through Metallica's Master of Puppets and Pantera's Walk before closing with their own Face to Face. On a side not, Dan and Mike from Disturbed were also in attendance. Its nice to see bands supporting their friends. If you have not seen Sevendust live, do it.
