Still feeling the aftermath
by Aunt Mimi on 12/5/19Town Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5What an extraordinary night. I went because I like listening to Seth on Sirius radio and thought it would be a fun evening. I went with my adult daughter and her fiancé. Neither was excited to go, but because I was coming from Long Island, they did me a "favor".
After a song by Jessie and one by Megan, we knew this was going to be a great night. But as the evening went on, I had to pinch myself. What I heard were two wonderful voices and with only the piano, and nothing else to muffle their sounds, I was in tears that it was going to come to an end.
We all loved it. We loved hearing the stories of how they got to Broadway. WE all wanted more. I could have listening for hours on end.
I am 75+ years and have attended musical theatre beginning with Yul Bryner in the King and I. I spent 14 years as a subscriber to Lyric and Lyricists beginning with seeing Yip Harburg in person and the likes of Marilyn and Alan Bergman and Alan Lerner and so many others. They always had great singers and musicians.
Yet this evening took my breath away. If traveling from Long Island wasn't so difficult, I would attend all of Seth's performances. And by the way, my daughter and fiance were also "blown away" from the incredible evening.
Thank you for a special night. I am betting that my dear husband heard the music from heaven. I have to believe that God gave him the night too, knowing he would have loved to have been there.
