Nice venue, decent sound , fun time and good crowd. The anniversary nature of the show made it extra fun though less interesting musically. Having to stand the whole time was a drag.
Session Americana appeals to all ages. The lack of seating for older folks like myself can make attending a two plus hour show more than a little too much.
Have loved and followed this band for several years in the Boston area. This show just didn’t have the energy that they usually display. I felt that this venue was too big for them. The sound system in Crystal Ballroom in Somerville was inadequate for the room. We had to stand in the back, but not way back, and we could hardly understand the songs. The words sounded very garbled for certain of the microphones and they didn’t put enough mikes on Jim’s harmonicas. The guest female on the fiddle was also poorly miked and we couldn’t hear her at all. My biggest disappointment was that Ry Cavanough wasn’t playing tonight. He greatly adds to the energy and talent of this band and without his presence they were quite flat.
Six guys and loads of talent made this night incredible. They were even better than the first time I saw them. Can't wait till they come back!!
