About

Proving that everything new can be old again, pianist Scott Bradlee has become a viral pop sensation after creating a series of clips for YouTube that finds him and his ad hoc group Postmodern Jukebox reworking 21st century pop hits in a variety of vintage styles -- transforming Miley Cyrus' "We Can't Stop" into a '50s-style doo wop number, giving Macklemore's "Thrift Shop" a '20s jazz accent, crossing Daft Punk's "Get Lucky" with Irish folk music, and showing how Ke$ha's "Die Young" would work as a classic country tune.

    Particularly the tap-dancing

by Particularly the tap-dancing on 4/3/24Tennessee Theatre - Knoxville

Great Show - Great Music - Great songs. BUT most particularly the incredible tap-dancing performed by a beautiful talented animated dancer. She interpreted the music with her feet. I couldn't help thinking of Samy Davis Jr. and so many of the greats. I left the show happy. If you haven't seen these guys, go to their show the next time they are in town. You won't regret it!

    Fun but not great

by AC Camp on 4/3/24Tennessee Theatre - Knoxville

They performed some fun pieces but the show became more about the performers showing off their vocal skills and less about the fun tunes they have on Youtube, that I liked so much. I was expecting more new (recognizable) tunes perfomred in a older swing style. In some cases the selections chosen were unrecognizable. The MC had the audience clap for everything before a performance had begun. Give us a reason to clap. If the performance is worthy, believe me, the audience will respond entusiastically. Example, the tap dancer was Great and we reponded accordingly. They held the best performance, Megan Trainor's "All About That Bass"for the encore. We went home and re watched their Youtube performances. Unfortunately, it was apparent their A team was the Youtube performers not, the ones at our live show.

    The Cat's Pajamas

by Kristin on 3/30/24Tennessee Theatre - Knoxville

What an incredible show they put on. I would pay MORE for tickets to their show than what I paid. The show lasts about 2 hours and is bursting at the seams with talent. You will have an amazing time from the first note to the last. Even short intermissions where new talent is introduced and someone's talking to you have been carefully crafted to provide maximum entertainment to the audience. You will laugh, your hands will hurt from clapping, and you will be blown away by the vocals, the choreography, and the incredibly talented musicians. Best show I've been to in years.

already said what I thought could improve on

by Was not as good as in past. Girl with bleached hair took great songs and screamed new versions. on 3/30/24Tennessee Theatre - Knoxville

Too much changing up of good music to modernize that I guess but too much screaming not enough harmonizing

    Excellent Date Night

by MrsBray on 3/29/24Tennessee Theatre - Knoxville

Bought the tickets in Sept, show was in March. Great experience from the purchase to the ticketing to the parking to the theater to the show. High energy performance, perfect sound and lighting. Tennessee Theater has wonderful acoustics, can't wait to go to another show. PMJ puts on a terrific live show - I know they've been on the road like crazy recently and the show still felt fresh and new. My only disappointment was with the audience - so much movement in and out of seats, and so many cell phones (not just taking photo/video - one of our seat neighbors was texting almost the whole time :( at full brightness). Highly recommend the venue and Post Modern Jukebox!

This is my 3rd time seeing PMJ and again, it was awesome. I'm amazed at the talent and musical ability of everyone on the stage. I love seeing "old standards"re-imagined, and the vocals were great. Can't wait for them to return!

    Not as expected

by RobC on 3/29/24Tennessee Theatre - Knoxville

The music was good the best singer was the drummer. After listening to as many You Tube videos of there group I could find. I was really excited for this concert. It appeared that many of the group members were new and not up to the quality of the videos I watched. Kinda bait and switch in my opinion

    It was ok

by Missy on 3/29/24Tennessee Theatre - Knoxville

This makes my third time to see PJM. The first time I saw them about five years ago the show was amazing. The second time I went to see them it was OK but not as good as the first time and this last time I don’t know what happened, but it just wasn’t as entertaining. Seems like there were fewer people in the show. The MC also spent a lot of time on stage talking. Just overall it wasn’t the same show that I saw five years ago. It just seemed like a smaller version of what they used to do. The singers were good and the tap dancing was really good. However, there was way too much tap dancing. It was almost like they had to fill in a lot of time.. The show seemed to improve somewhat as it moved along, but we left before it was over.

Great performersna dnmusicians / Too much talking

by Pedro on 3/29/24Tennessee Theatre - Knoxville

I am a big fan of this production of Scott Bradley's Post Modern Jukebox. I have been attending the show now for four years. However, it seems like the MC continues to talk way too much and tooting his and the group's horn a bit too much and very pushy with audience participation.

    Always a great show!

by Gina on 3/28/24The Walker Theatre - Chattanooga

This show was great. No complaints at all. Saw them in Nashville last year and enjoyed seeing them in Chattanooga this year!! Only thing that could have made it better is if Effie was there!

    Fantastic & Fun

by CRBRODEUR on 3/26/24Capital One Hall - Tysons

This was one of the most exciting, engaging, and fun-filled shows that I have been to in a long time. The musicians are incredibly talented, as of the dancers. The concept of creating retro style covers of modern-day songs is unique and well done..

    Fun and Engaging Show!

by Lady Jen on 3/26/24Capital One Hall - Tysons

I've followed PMJ from afar for years. My husband and I wanted a date night that wasn't in Washington, D.C. for once! We laughed, sang, were moved, and even danced in the isle! Great performers and fantastic musicians. We expected a little more jazz and/or blues, but had a great time nonetheless! I suggest you go!!

    GREAT NIGHT OUT

by NikNik on 3/26/24Capital One Hall - Tysons

A wonderful night out with some really stellar performances. The only reason that it didn't get a resounding five stars is because half of the main performers were new to the tour and though GREATLY talented, not as refined or polished as I felt they should have been for the amount of money spent. The other half were absolutely incredible and worth twice the price, so perhaps it all evens out in the end. LOVED how they ENCOURAGED photos and videos of the performance. LOVED how they interacted with the audience. LOVED the music and a new spin on some old favorites.
